Update: 3 weeks post op. Dryness improved in eyes but still have a prescription of -0.75 in right eye and astigmitism in left. Not too happy but hoping that this will get better within next few weeks. If not, i will need further surgery on right eye to correct myopia. No point in worrying as OE will not consider you for surgery before 3 months.

I had laser eye surgery on Sunday 25th June 2006. The whole experience was fantastic, the procedure was extremeley quick and totally painless only 15 mins. The staff were very friendly and helped to keep me calm. The aftercare has been great also. I would definitely recommend laser treatment to my family and friends.

The entire process has been an absolute pleasure. The staff at EASTCHEAP were fantastic to start with and this was only confirmed on my visit to Shaftesbury yesterday for the surgery. Has anybody had treatment at the Southampton clinic? Which surgeon did they use and what was the overall opinion? Also does anybody have any experience of 'monovision'? Because of my age I would need reading glasses and am interested in hearing how people have adapted to 'monovision'. Or did anybody find switching the need for glasses for distance to needing them for reading a 'pain'?

Consultation at Eastcheap Treatment at Bluewater. Like many who contemplate this surgery and worry about the risks and potential discomfort, I too fretted over having this done for many months. They obviously have to advise you on the possible consequences of surgery but the risks really are negligible. As the consultant said: You need two things for a successful operation: (1) A Good Surgeon ( Wayne Crew-Brown with whom I had the surgery at Bluewater had performed the operation for 15 years and over 10,000 procedures); and (2) the right prescription/corneal thickness etc - that is all explained when you attend for appointment. In short, THERE REALLY IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. If you are an active person like me, having to put in contact lenses for sport or going out, having to change from glasses to sunglasses (I had photochromic glasses which is not a proper substitute for either) then laser surgery is for you. I went with WAVEFRONT/LASIK. There was excellent clinical support and the staff were friendly and informative. First class results - vision is now better than 20/20 - I have no prescription at all.Fully recommend it! GO FOR IT!!!

LASEK Dr Jain, Milton Keynes Previous to my earlier comments in early May and June. One month after the op on June 2nd I could make out 3 of the 4 letters on the bottom line of the chart although I was guessing a bit 20/40. Considering I was 4.75- in my right and 5.75- in my left, not bad! I had and still have a slight problem in dim light where the left is a bit fuzzy, it's a bit annoying and reading things say from a moderate distant on a notice board in the office. I was told this was due to normal swelling in my left eye in the line of focus. Four weeks on the same problem exists. Hopefully another month it will reslove itself. I will update on 3 months but am pretty happy all in all.
