Mr Kazakos is a board certified, fellowship trained corneal eye surgeon who has undergone additional specialist training in laser refractive surgery and is in private practice including Optical Express. He is an active member of various affiliated bodies and societies such as the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the United Kingdom and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. Mr. Kazakos attends International Medical Advisory Board (IMAB) conferences and is annually assessed by this board. The panel consists of several of the world’s most eminent refractive surgeons including Mr. Steve Schallhorn, former Head of Ophthalmology for the US Navy, and Dr. Jan Venter, a world leading ophthalmic surgeon.
Mr Kazakos graduated from the prestigious Marmara University of Istanbul, Turkey in 1997. His ophthalmic residence was at the Oxford Eye Hospital, Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, Essex County Hospital, Ipswich General Hospital, Bristol Eye Hospital and Southampton Eye Unit for a Fellowship in Corneal and External Eye Diseases. He then returned to his native Greece where he completed his higher surgical training and received a Refractive Fellowship in the University of Crete with Prof. Pallikaris, the inventor of LASIK. Additionally, he has attended mini-fellowships in Refractive Surgery with some of the world’s most distinguished ophthalmologists including Prof. Richard Forster (Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miami, Florida, USA) and Prof. Theo Seiler (Institut für Refraktive und Ophtalmologische Chirurgie, Zurich, Switzerland).
His dedication to his profession and patients is evident from his clinical experience, patients’ feedback, involvement with research and continued attendance at seminars and conferences as both speaker and delegate.

I had wavefront lasik surgery 9 days ago. I was blessed to have Mr Kazakos as my surgeon, he was wonderful. I felt immediately at ease, he had time to reassure me and answer every question, he talked me through every step. Mr Kazakos was extremely gentle, professional and caring. My sister drove me home about 5 hours later and I could read number plates on the motorway! The following day I could see perfectly, yesterday I attended for my week after check and was told that my vision is ‘significantly better than 20/20’. having worn contact lenses for 30 years and glasses for even longer with a left eye -750 right eye -450 thought iwould be short sighted for life boy was i wrong went ahead and booked for eye surgery am i glad i did mr dimitri kazakos was my surgeon,made me feel at ease,talked me through it all the way wasnt painfull at all,now ihave got better than 20/20 vision staff at the nottingham optical express are very nice and helpfull. the only downfall is that i didnt book it years ago
Had my intralase wavefront surgey 2 days ago performed by Mr Kazakos at Cribbs Causeway Bristol I have worn glasses for a long time as I was long sighted was very pleased with everything felt no pain during surgery my appointment was for 11.30am and was home in Pontypool by 2pm which was amazing. Had to keep my closed all the way home but it was only for 45mins as my eyes were streaming and very light sensitive but after resting for a while they were a lot better. Went back to Cardiff yesterday 17th June for follow up and they were very pleased with the results. Things are still a bit hazy but that will settle down in time cant see to read properly yet without wearing reading glasses or using the computer but hopefully that will inprove with time. Going back to Cardiff in a week so will see how things have improved then. The only drawback is not being able to drive for a week but that is a small price to pay.
I had lasic wavefront intralase on June 11th which was performed by Mr Dimitri Kazakos. I can’t praise him and the wonderful staff at Nottingham enough. The proceedire was quick and painless and Mr Kazakos kept me informed throughout the operation. I opted for mono vision because I do not want to wear reading glasses, and had both eyes treated accordingly. This has worked wonderfully. I had a little discomfort on the way home but slept for a few hours and by evening this had eased. The following day my sight was fantastic and my sight check at the clinic revealed better than 20/20 vision. I can now read very well without reading glasses. What a difference this is going to make to my life, thank you.
I had Wavefront IntraLase Lasik treatment on Friday 12th June 2009 and was treated at the Optical Express store in Nottingham.My vision pre-op was -2.50 in both eyes and I was short sighted.Mr Dimitri and the whole team at Optical Express were fantastic! I really felt well informed about the whole process and therefore was less anxious.As I was going in for the lasik surgery I was well taken care of. Mr Dimitri ensured that someone held my hand and then he also explained exactly what he was doing whilst carrying out the procedure. I loved the music in the background! It helped me to focus on that as appose to focussing on my eyes.After the operation which only lasted for a few minutes, Mr Dimitri spent some time with me again to check my eyes and answer any questions that I had.As the anesthetic wore off I felt some slight discomfort that evening. It felt as though I had been cutting onions all day and had that stinging sensation. I took some painkillers and it helped with the stinging feeling. I found it very hard to keep my eyes open and when I did open them I had alot of water coming out. I ensured that I rested my eyes and went to bed.The next day I felt great! I could see properly and took my eye drops. I went to see an eye specialist and I am making a great recovery.I would recommend that anyone do this if you are tired of wearing contacts or glasses! I am 26 years olds and have now got vision better than 20/20!! I want to say a huge THANK YOU to Mr Dimitri and his team! I can never express to you enough how great I feel!
