Mr Kazakos is a board certified, fellowship trained corneal eye surgeon who has undergone additional specialist training in laser refractive surgery and is in private practice including Optical Express. He is an active member of various affiliated bodies and societies such as the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the United Kingdom and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. Mr. Kazakos attends International Medical Advisory Board (IMAB) conferences and is annually assessed by this board. The panel consists of several of the world’s most eminent refractive surgeons including Mr. Steve Schallhorn, former Head of Ophthalmology for the US Navy, and Dr. Jan Venter, a world leading ophthalmic surgeon.
Mr Kazakos graduated from the prestigious Marmara University of Istanbul, Turkey in 1997. His ophthalmic residence was at the Oxford Eye Hospital, Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, Essex County Hospital, Ipswich General Hospital, Bristol Eye Hospital and Southampton Eye Unit for a Fellowship in Corneal and External Eye Diseases. He then returned to his native Greece where he completed his higher surgical training and received a Refractive Fellowship in the University of Crete with Prof. Pallikaris, the inventor of LASIK. Additionally, he has attended mini-fellowships in Refractive Surgery with some of the world’s most distinguished ophthalmologists including Prof. Richard Forster (Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miami, Florida, USA) and Prof. Theo Seiler (Institut für Refraktive und Ophtalmologische Chirurgie, Zurich, Switzerland).
His dedication to his profession and patients is evident from his clinical experience, patients’ feedback, involvement with research and continued attendance at seminars and conferences as both speaker and delegate.

Mr Dimitri Kazakos is first class. On the day of my eye surgery I wasn’t nervous at all, just so excited at the thought of never having to wear glasses or contact lenses again. He explained absolutely everything before the surgery and during the surgery he gave me a detailed account of everything he was about to do and how long (in seconds) it would take. I was in the treatment room for just under 10 minutes. I was then taken to a quiet dark room to sit for a while with my eyes closed. Mr Kazakos then came back in to check on me and reassured me that how my eyes were feeling at that time was completely normal. His manner is extremely calm and very caring. I’m delighted with my ‘better than perfect’ vision and I can’t thank Mr Kazakos and his team at Optical Express Silverburn enough. What a fantastic experience.
I had my Lasik surgery done in the Edinburgh branch by Mr. Dimitris Kazakos. I found all the staff very professional, and excellent. Mr. Kazakos is an excellent surgeon, and he explained everything to me. Originally I was going to have LASEK and just one eye done at the time, and he looked at my case and mentioned I could have Lasik and both eyes done on the same day, and I am glad I trusted him with it. The surgery was painless and he and his team are brilliant. I was -5.25 and -5.00 since the age of nine, and now I am amazed about the results I can see so clearly. As an architect my eyes are an important tool for my work and I have excellent vision. Ths post op was for me the most difficult part, it is not painful , but uncomfortable. I was treated so well during and after surgery and that help me to be at ease during the intervention. I am very particular about doctors and my eyes but I could not recommend Mr Kazakos and his team well enough to anyone. You only have one pair of eyes and no money can buy the treatment, professionalism and care that I have received. Amazing.
It’s so wonderful!!! Feeling free after abt 17 years, had never thought dat I could ever get rid of my glasses and would be able to see the natural world naturally but wow…Thanx God n then Optical Express n specially Dr. Dimitris Kazakos..Well, seems I’m too much excited but I bet everybody who’s undergone this whole process of wearing glasses/lenses and then getting rid of ’em all of a sudden and getting back normal, must be feeling the same… I had my surgery on 3rd of July 2009, in Birmingham clinic of Optical Express. I had my Lasik ( Primary – Bilateral ) surgery at the Nottingham Branch by Mr Dimitris Kazakos on Thursday 2nd July.I was very nervous on the day,but Mr Kazakos and his team really put me at ease.Mr Kazakos was very calming and explained everything in detail. It is now about 48hrs since my surgery and at my next day follow up i had better than 20/20 vision.
