Mr Kazakos is a board certified, fellowship trained corneal eye surgeon who has undergone additional specialist training in laser refractive surgery and is in private practice including Optical Express. He is an active member of various affiliated bodies and societies such as the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the United Kingdom and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. Mr. Kazakos attends International Medical Advisory Board (IMAB) conferences and is annually assessed by this board. The panel consists of several of the world’s most eminent refractive surgeons including Mr. Steve Schallhorn, former Head of Ophthalmology for the US Navy, and Dr. Jan Venter, a world leading ophthalmic surgeon.
Mr Kazakos graduated from the prestigious Marmara University of Istanbul, Turkey in 1997. His ophthalmic residence was at the Oxford Eye Hospital, Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, Essex County Hospital, Ipswich General Hospital, Bristol Eye Hospital and Southampton Eye Unit for a Fellowship in Corneal and External Eye Diseases. He then returned to his native Greece where he completed his higher surgical training and received a Refractive Fellowship in the University of Crete with Prof. Pallikaris, the inventor of LASIK. Additionally, he has attended mini-fellowships in Refractive Surgery with some of the world’s most distinguished ophthalmologists including Prof. Richard Forster (Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miami, Florida, USA) and Prof. Theo Seiler (Institut für Refraktive und Ophtalmologische Chirurgie, Zurich, Switzerland).
His dedication to his profession and patients is evident from his clinical experience, patients’ feedback, involvement with research and continued attendance at seminars and conferences as both speaker and delegate.

I had my surgery in Dublin on 22nd August 2009. I had LASIK IntraLase surgery. My sight was -1.75. I live in Cork. By the time I came back to Cork my sight was perfect. Next day of operation my sight is 110%. I was wearing glasses or contacts for the last 10 years. I can not believe that i do not have to wear them any more. It is unbelievable feeling. Everybody who is wearing glasses or contacts understands what I am talking about. The whole procure was very short and painless. Absolutely painless. Before the procedure I was very nervious and anxious. I did not know what to expect. Before the operation I was told that each eye would be operated for 10 min. It is not true exactly. The whole operation is much more shorter. I found Mr. Kazakos to have avery comforting and relaxing manner when I had the LASIK at Niorwich, everthing was explained fully and he gave a countdown ofthe amount of time remaining in the operation, I found this very comforting.He gave clear instructions and when he told me off for squeezing my eyelids shut too much he did so in a very pleasant manner.I cannot recommend him highly enough.
Had my surgery at Bristol Cabot Circus. It was spotlessly clean and Dimitri was great. He ensured everything had been discussed and gave you the options again before going ahead. Thoroughly recommend it and if you give my name as a recommendation you can get £50.00 off the cost of the surgery (only a little bit compared to the cost, but every penny counts and the surgery is worth it in the long run).
I had the LASIK procedure done on 19th August 09. My previous prescription was -2.25 so I could not do anything without glasses or contacts! My surgeon Dimitri Kazakos and his team were more than helpful and professional throughout the whole procedure. I was a little nervous but was put at ease by all the staff and had all of my questions answered. I couldn’t believe how painless and quick the actual procedure was. Dimitri kept me at ease during the procedure by constantly reassuring me and telling me what was going to happen next, it was a comfort as I didn’t really have a clue what to expect! I was in and out of the building within an hour and a half, and I could see clearly within about 2-3 hours, it is fabulous! It was something I had been thinking about for a while and I am so glad I finally decided to go for it!I’m now looking forward to going snowboarding without having to worry about wearing contacts every day! It’s also great being able to lie on the sofa and watch TV without my glasses going squiffy!! Highly recommended to all considering!
I had my surgery on Friday 14/8/09, and my comments are the same as everyone else – excellent.Mr Kazakos did try to persuade me to have a more advanced surgery in Bristol – (with implants) because I am nearly 60. This would have meant I would not have needed reading glasses – but I declined because it was more expensive and they can only do 1 eye at a time. But after wearing glasses all day every day for about 52 years – who cares about reading glasses?? Not meThanks to everyone concerned
