Mr Chitkara is Founder and Director of Viewpoint Vision Services Ltd and Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon. Until 2001 Mr. Chitkara was also Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon in Aintree Hospitals NHS Trust, Liverpool.
He has specialized in Refractive and corneal surgery since 1994 and is recognized internationally as a pioneer in his field. He was one of the first to perform LASIK, phakic implants, Intacs and Accommodating Lens Implants surgery in UK and Europe.
He serves on various committees, including Executive Committee of ‘UK and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery’, Editorial committee of ‘Refractive Surgery Today’, and a reviewer for the ‘Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery’ and ‘Cornea’ journals. He is also a member of the exclusive ‘International Intraocular Implant Club’ and advisor to Bausch and Lomb refractive surgery division.

I decided to go ahead with eye surgery as my sister had recommended Deepak Chitkara after having lens replacement nine years ago.My consultation with Dr Chitkara was excellent, the clinic is first class, total professionalism throughout. I booked to go ahead with Refractive Lens replacement surgery to both eyes. I went into the hospital in the morning and had a local anaesthetic and returned home in the afternoon. I had been apprehensive thinking I might experience a lot of pain but it was just mild discomfort, nothing like I had imagined it would be at all.My vision is now amazing, 20/20 vision to both eyes, the results are way beyond my expectations. I have had a lazy eye since childhood and I was not expecting much to change with this eye but it is now in full working order. I had surgery with boots 4 years ago and my eyes were never perfect. I am a perfectionist and Mr Chitkara was very understanding of this. He was realistic with his expectations, he didn’t coerce me with my decision he merely provided me with all the data and factual information I required and allowed me to make my own decision. I only had a slight prescription which I am led to believe is the most difficuly to correct because there is hardly any margin for error. Mr Chitkara took my prescription on several occasions and made sure that both I and himself was comfortable with the measured prescription. He was very patient and reassuring and once I had opted for the surgery he made me feel confident. The surgery lasted a couple of minutes at most, the hygiene standards were phenomenal and his team were well versed. I had absolutely no pain what so ever. I awoke the next day and my vision was no different which I found disappointing. Over the next month I noticed a gradual improvement. It is now 3 months post surgery and I am happy with my eyes. They are now perfect and with my expectations that is a superb result. I would happily recommend Mr Chitkara to any of my friends or family.
