Robert Morris graduated with honours from St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London. He trained at Oxford Eye Hospital, Moorfields Eye Hospital and the University of Iowa, one of the top five training programmes in the United States.
Mr Morris has been an NHS Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Southampton General Hospital since 1991 and in Winchester, where he is Deputy Medical Director, since 1995. He has performed over 8,500 cataract procedures and is recognised as a national expert in squint surgery. He has been carrying out laser vision correction since 1994 and is experienced in LASIK, LASEK and Wavefront treatments. He also has considerable expertise in presbyopic lens exchange.
Mr Morris is passionately committed to passing on his skills by training other Surgeons. He has been Chairman of the Wessex Deanery Education committee, and Regional Adviser for Wessex to the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He is an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and a Member of their Microsurgery Training Faculty. He has lectured and presented papers, nationally and internationally, on cataract, refractive and strabismus surgery and has published over 35 papers in peer-reviewed journals.
He is a member of both the American and European Societies of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
