I had Intralase Wavefront Lasik performed by Dimitri on 12/11/09 in Birmingham city centre store. Whilst I had a mild prescription I was troubled by astigmatisms that affected my eyesight more. I was originally going for the manual method of cutting the cornea but discussions with Dimitri made me upgrade to the Intralase (bit of a chicken really!)I found Dimitri and all the staff at the clinic to be really friendly, extremely helpful and understanding to all patients. Once you’ve checked yourself in you get called in to see Dimitri who explains what happens and stresses that this is a PAINLESS procedure and it gives you the chance to ask any last minute questions that might pop up. After that it’s in for the surgery, but again Dimitri and the nurse and technician do everything possible to make you feel as comfortable as possible before and during the procedure.During the procedure Dimitri talks you through the whole thing explaining exactly what’s about to happen and how long it will take. My actual surgery was 18 seconds on my right eye and 20 on the left. The whole thing was over and done within 10 minutes, and yes it is a painless procedure, you’ve got to love those anaesthetic drops.2 days later my eyesight is so much better than it has been for years. Right eye is perfect but left eye still seems a little more fuzzy, but as they explain each eye can heal differently, but still the sight is so much better.I would highly recommend this procedure to anyone considering it and as for my surgeon, he’s A1. Thank you Dimitri for giving me back my unaided sight.

I had Lasik surgery at the Cardiff Clinic on the 2nd November 2009. Mr Kazakos and his team have been wonderful and the care I have received at the clinic has been second to none. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the surgery to anyone thinking of having it done.

I had Lasik standard treatment on 5/11/09 at Birmingham Optical Express.I was short sighted (-3.75) and had an astigmatism. All the consultations went well and I found the Optical Express staff to be very helpful whilst I was exploring my options for treatment. On the day of the treatment I found the premises to be very clean. I was seen quickly and had the treatment within a half an hour of being there. I think this was due to the fact that I had been in for a further consultation to re-do my scans only 2 weks before hand. I wasn’t told that the treatment would be done so quickly, I had expected to be having more scans, this was not the case and I found myself in the treatment room sooner than I had thought. I think this helped as otherwise I would have worried more! Once in the room the nurses tried to put me at my ease, I had to wait a short while for the surgeon and I wonder whether this added to my nerviousness. Once the surgeon arrived the procedure started immediately. Whilst being treated I found the surgeon was not as reassuring as I would have liked, I was strongly reminded not to move whilst trying my hardest not to. At one point I think I found myself apologising! After the procedure I was taken into another room where a nurse explained all the drops. I was very glad that I had someone with me to listen to this as I was not ready to hear it and take it in, I was more focusing on how uncomfortabe it felt and how to get comfortable! Once this had been completed we waited a little longer for the surgeon to check I was ok to go home. During this further anesthetic was applied tomy eyes, which made my journey home more comfortable. I then went straight to sleep! After one day I was given the all clear to drive, and so far I have really only experienced discomfort a few hours after the pocedure, as I had been warned with the standard treatment. My vision has been good since I left the treatment centre and I can say that it’s fantastic! I found it a difficult decision to make as sight is one of those things that you don’t want to mess with, but having done it I’ve got no regrets. No more waking up and searching for my glasses! My advice to people would be think carefully, do all the research, take a week off work as it’s difficult to wash and the regime with the drops in your eyes is important. It is recommended that you do not put water on your face for one week.

Dimitri was professional and competent and also quite a funny guy. His confidence in himself translates to your confidence in his abilities. The procedure went well and when he checked my eyes afterwards and saw a piece of lint under the flap, Dimitri was extremely competent in removing the item with absolutely no pain or distress.Four months on and me eyes are amazing, two lines better than 20/20 and so fresh and comfortable. He even admonished me for not having ‘a proper pair of sunglasses’ after the procedure! So I went and bought some that covered my eyes better.Outstanding.

I had Wavefront Intralase-Lasik-unilateral right eye only on 27/10/09. The preparation for the procedure was exemplary. Mr Kazakos and the staff were professional, courteous, informative, smartly dressed, efficient, and above all treated me as an individual, even though they perform about 20 of these procedures a day. You have much to teach the NHS about customer care and the qualities of professionalism.Thank you. You are highly recommended.
