Here are the main laser eye surgery procedures he performs:

  • Intra-LASIK or PRK (bladeless laser eye surgery)
  • LASEK (flapless laser eye surgery)
  • Cataract surgery (with toric and multifocal lenses)
  • ICL surgery (implantable contact lenses)

Given Mr Angunawela’s research focus into new laser eye surgery techniques, and as an experienced eye surgeon, he can also help with more complicated eye conditions, such as corneal transplantation, corneal collagen crosslinking, and Fuchs’ dystrophy.

Today, Mr Angunawela sees patients exclusively at the Ophthalmic Consultants of London, which he recently founded along with two other renowned, UK trained eye surgeons: Mr Allon Barsam and Mr Ali Mearza.

What makes this eye clinic special? The Ophthalmic Consultants of London has practices in central London and Hertfordshire, and uses state-of-the-art technology to secure the desired results.

Is there anything I should know? It’s refreshing to see transparent laser eye surgery prices, and it’s rare for private eye clinics to offer interest free laser eye surgery finance options. However, it’s also worth noting the costs at the Ophthalmic Consultants of London are some of the highest in the industry.

So, is Mr Angunawela the right eye surgeon for you? Of course, that all depends on whether you live in London, and how deep your pockets are.

Mr Angunawela features as one of the best laser eye surgeons in the UK, given his extensive experience (even in complex procedures) and thumbs up from customers. It’s also rare to find an ophthalmologist with more awards.

However, he is London based, and – as you would expect from his eye-dropping experience in vision correction – his prices are at the upper end, with even the initial consultation costing £250. If that price tag is giving you goose bumps, there are many other safe options in the UK.

Mr Angunawela provides both an excellent and personalised service.
I was unsure about whether or not to have the procedure done at first, but after my consultation I was reassured not only that I was in expert hands but also that I was fully informed about what all the potential risks and benefits would be.
The team he works with share his excellent standard of care.
Highly recommended.

I recently underwent corrective surgery carried out by Mr Angunawela. With a -5.25 prescription, I have been reliant on contact lenses from the age of 16 and more recently having to use reading glasses as well, finally decided on surgery. Following enquiries with 3 prospective clinics, I based my decision on Mr Angunawela’s qualifications, experience and reputation, coupled with the fact that I was not once marketed following my initial enquiry to Moorfields with various “special offers and price promise deals”. I had my consultation on a Friday and surgery the following Monday. For 20 minutes of minor discomfort, my life has been changed. I now have excellent distance as well as perfect reading vision. I marvel each day at the results and will never be able to thank Mr Angunawela enough.

After feeling frustrated with having to wear glasses my entire life and due to the inconvenience of wearing glasses whilst playing sport, I decided to have laser eye surgery. I had to have both Lasek and Lasik due to my astigmatism in one eye. Both were brilliantly successful! Couldn’t have asked for a reassuring, confident and experienced surgeon! Can’t recommend more.

For over 30 years I wore glasses and contact lenses with a long sighted prescription. I never thought I would be eligible for laser eye surgery and certainly couldn’t imagine not wearing glasses or lenses.

I decided to research the possibility of having laser eye surgery and looked to Moorfields and after reading reviews decided to make an appointment with Romesh.

I was over the moon, when after my consultation that I was told I was in fact suitable for Lasik.

The procedure itself was so much quicker than I thought it would be. Throughout Romesh talked me through what was happening and what to expect so at no point felt concerned. I completely trusted Romesh and he put me at ease. He answered all my questions and queries and managed my expectations honestly.

It really is amazing that after such a short procedure I am now lenses and glasses free! It has made such a difference to my everyday life, especially after wearing glasses from my early childhood.

I was recommended to see Romesh due to deteriorating sight which seemed to be uncorrectable with glasses. Romesh found a cataract in one eye, which he corrected, and performed LASIK surgery on my other eye. The result: after 33 years of wearing glasses for very bad short sight I no longer need glasses at all – I can read, drive and play sports without glasses! Romesh was fantastic – everything was explained very clearly so I knew exactly what was going on. Questions that I had after our initial consultation were answered in full and the surgery itself was painless and simple. I never doubted that I was in good hands. Romesh is a consummate professional, but he also cares, even giving up his saturday afternoon to see me when I had an (unnecessary) panic. And my new sight really is a revelation!
