The first Ultralase clinic was opened in January 1991 at the Clatterbridge Hospital near Chester. At the time, all treatments performed were Photorefractive Keratotomy, or PRK, until the Lasik procedure was introduced in 1995.

I had Lasek surgery at the Hammersmith clinic in February 2005 and I have to say it is one of the best things that I have ever done! My corneas were on the boundaries of being too thin for Lasik so I was recommended Lasek which I was very nervous about. Dr Vinod Gupta performed my operation and I trusted his professionalism completely. I felt in very safe hands and I knew his reputation was excellent.
The operation was not painful, all I felt was a bit of pressure on each eye. It was over in minutes and the staff were brilliant throughout. Apart from my eyes streaming for a while I did not really have any significant pain at all. I had the lenses taken out a week later and when I went back for my month appointment Dr Gupta told me that I had 20/20 vision.
I have since been back to my old opticians who were amazed, thoroughly checked my eyes and said they had been done brilliantly, she could not even really see I had had the treatment done. My prescription is now +0.5 in each eye (previously -5.75 and -6.25 including a stigmatism) so I am absolutely thrilled. No contact lenses or glasses wearing any more!

I had my eyes lasered by Ultralase over 5 years ago and I am still amazed by the results. I've gone from being as blind as a bat to seeing better than 20/20. The staff at Ultralase were excellent and answered all my questions honestly and thoroughly. I've been so impressed that I've recommended Ultralase to many of my friends and relatives. One of my mates has recently had the new wavefront treatment and his eyesight is amazing.
