The first Ultralase clinic was opened in January 1991 at the Clatterbridge Hospital near Chester. At the time, all treatments performed were Photorefractive Keratotomy, or PRK, until the Lasik procedure was introduced in 1995.

Bristol Clinic – Very kind & friendly staff, thorough discussion with the surgeon (although he contradicted early things said by Customer services / sales' staff). Opted for LASEK Wavefront because of night vision – I live in a rural area so need good night vision for driving – and SCUBA diving. Had op 4 weeks ago. They even negotiated on the price as I said I couldn't afford the full Wavefront price…and wouldn't risk the cheaper version after the full consultation about night vision effects. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Ultralase for surgery. I had Ultralasikplus with Intralase at the Liverpool clinic in September. Customer Service there is excellent, the staff make you feel very valuable as a customer, and the surgeon was very calming! Staff keep you informed at all times of the next stages on consultation day. Results are amazing, and I'm telling everyone to go and get it done!
I had PRK in my left eye in June and then in my right eye in August, performed by Vinod Gupta at Hammersmith. I have to say i couldn't be happier, Mr Gupta and the team have been so fantastic. I was on the table and ready to have Lasik when Mr Gupta said he couldn't go ahead with it as i had 'loose epithelium', my only option in my mind was to have PRK. I was never pushed into anything and was even given time in a spare office to go on the net to do research. I went home and thought very hard about what i wanted to do and decided to go ahead with PRK but only in one eye first.
I had a few days of discomfort and the odd shooting pains but as soon as the bandage lens was taken out it felt great. I booked in for my right eye almost straight away!
My vision is now better then 20/20, no glasses, no evil contact lenses! It really has been life changing!
So to anyone considering laser surgey i can very very highly reccommend, Mr Gupta and his team at Hammersmith!!!
