For people with a very high degree of hyperopia who would not benefit from LASIK surgery, an alternative treatment called Refractive Lens Exchange is available, which is similar to cataract surgery, where the lens inside the eye is replaced with a new multi focal foldable lens, so that the patient will no longer need to wear thick glasses.

MDA Clinic provided an excellent service and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.
All of the staff are very professional, helpful, and polite. The surgeon, Mr Khatib, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and seemed to take pride in his work. There was no hard sell or pressure to proceed with the procedure, and when the initial examination revealed a factor which may potentially have increased the risk of an adverse outcome I was actively encouraged to obtain a second independent opinion from another consultant before proceeding.
The surgery itself was painless and over fairly quickly. The evening after the surgery Mr Khatib phoned to ensure everything was alright, and he provided his own personal contact details so that I could get in touch with him at any time, day or night, in case there was a problem after the procedure. Clear aftercare instructions and warnings were provided, along with the necessary eye drops and eye guards for use while sleeping.
I am very pleased with the final results, and, after a lifetime of being very short-sighted, my vision is now nearly perfect.

Considering that I was -8.00 in both eyes and had been refused by the big high street chains, I honestly thought I would be wearing glasses for the rest of my life. Oh, how wrong could I be! I am now driving standard and the only pair of glasses I now own are my new sunnies. And I have been told that it is likely that they will be the only glasses I will ever have to wear in my life. I had my surgery 6 months ago and can say that it was well worth the money. The staff are second to none in making the surgery and aftercare a breeze. I know I do not have perfect vision but I was not even expecting to be driving standard due to the complications that my eyes presented. Took my Daughter to this clinic with some trepidation but was pleasantly surprised by the courteous and professionalism of the staff from ground level to the Surgeon himself. Very thorough and in no time put my otherwise anxious daughter at ease. The Surgeon even took the time to phone out of hours as a courtesy follow up call which as a consultant in private practice myself took as an exceptional and thoughtful service. I recommend this clinic to anyone near Cardiff who is deciding to get their vision corrected. Dr Khatib has experience for more than 30 years with eye surgery in the UK, originally the surgeon Dr Khatib is from India. The staff at the clinic helped me choose the best option for my eyes, gave me a price and stated clearly the medication required on my free consultation. The day I had the surgery, I was told about the aftercare and about any pain I may experience for a short time after the operation. The operation was completed successfully and during the procedure there is no pain or blackout for LASEK. I now have perfect vision thanks to the staff. Would highly recommend. Customer care and staff are fantastic. The facilities are excellent. Mr Katib is a superb surgeon. A good communicator and a gentleman. I was given clear and concise instructions by all staff and made aware of the proceedure throughout. Mr Katib took the time to call and check up on my progress the evening of my surgery. A very kind and thoughtful gesture. The after care facilities are also well structured. This gave me comfort that, should I need to discuss my surgery at any time, I would reach the surgeon and the MDA team with ease.

Do not go to this cow boy clinic ! Cheap for a reasson! I got conned and dissapointed ! The truth is this clinic does not have the right teqno to correct high myopia ! I booked a consultation and on same week booked surgery ! Day b4 surgery I got called to go and see an eye specialist ! ( how unprofessional ) booked another day went for another consultation had to cancel it got eye infection from the dirty equipment ! Was forced to tell another person why I want surgery like I was a school kid ! On top of that I got the go ahead from the specialist which I paid for only to get an email 5 months after to say they will not operate when I wanted treatment ! Bull shit business ! Howver I cannot fault the surgeons kindness he is very kind ! Save a bit more and go to London eye clinic on Harley st london

I had bilateral Lasik at the MDA clinic a couple of days ago. Prior to the operation my prescription was –2.00 in both eyes. I chose Dr Khatib because I knew that he used to work at a local hospital as a consultant eye surgeon and that other medical staff had chosen him to perform Lasik on them. During the operation Dr Khatib was very professional, explaining each step during the process and giving lots of reassurance. Contrary to my preconceptions, the overall procedure is not one simple automated process, and it clearly requires someone with considerable expertise (e.g. in cleaning the eye and replacing the flap). Nevertheless, the procedure was very straightforward and painless. For the following four hours I kept my eyes closed 99% of the time (as recommended), following which I had excellent vision. At my check-up 24 hours later, one eye was +0.25 and the other was spot on at 0.00, with no side-effects or complications. I was very impressed by the personal care at Dr Khatib’s clinic, which I felt was probably more individual than at some of the ‘chain store’ alternatives.

It is 6 years since I underwent Lasik eye correction at the MDA centre in Cardiff. My eyes were assessed not by Dr Khatib but another consultant and I was not told about the possible sideaffects that I now experience, eye floaters and disturbance in night driving, long verticle lines from the lights of oncoming vehicles and lines descending from television programmes .Dr Khatib was most pleasant before the operation but when I complained about the side effects it was most difficult in getting an appointment with him which was most frustrating.I cannot complain about my actual sight although one eye is deteriorating but putting up with the side effects makes life very depressing and I so, so wish I had never had it done!!
Please if there are any ways in which these symptoms could be eleviated, I would be grateful to know.

My experience at the MDA clinic has not been a pleasant one. The MDA clinic did not seem to want to help me and they did not seem to care about my welfare. I rung the clinic asking for help and even had the phone put down on me. I was forced to seek help elsewhere by myself.
I was also concerned when I discovered that my records were recorded incorrectly stating that I refused a particular sort of treatment but this I know for a fact was not true.
I felt I had to put a review up to warn others about this clinic. I have felt very hurt and let down by the lack of aftercare demonstrated by this clinic.
