1. Review of Centre for Sight Clinic
Centre for Sight is a long-standing and renowned eye surgery clinic, with three practices in London, Surrey and West Sussex. Its leading consultant eye surgeon, Mr Sheraz Daya, founded the clinic way back in 1996 with a clear mission: provide exemplary eye care to patients in facilities that are purpose-built with their needs in mind.
What makes Centre for Sight different? Centre for Sight is based on Mr Daya’s vision that better surroundings can provide a higher standard of care. Today patients get to enjoy a spa-like or luxury hotel experience, rather than the dread of most hospital surgeries.
Is there anything else I should know? As you’d expect then, this clinic also comes with the price tag that accompanies a five-star experience. Yes, the facilities are kitted out with high-end diagnostic tech and quality lenses, backed up by a team of highly trained staff. But you leave all the fancy atmosphere behind the moment you step outside the clinic, and it won’t be a priority for everyone.

These costs are slightly above the average price range of £1,789 and £3,152 – high street clinics such as Optical Express and Ultralase were the cheapest places we found.

Centre for Sight also provides interest free pay monthly finance options over a generous 24 months – with some clinics, you’ll be paying 11% APR after the first year. As with most clinics, there’s a deposit of £500 to secure the surgery, but this cost comes off the total cost.

Our Testimonials
Had LASIK performed 20 Jan 2003. My prescription was about –6 in both eyes with –0.5 astigmatism. Pupil size about 7mm.
I referred myself after lots of research and a couple of visits to other clinics. I’d been thinking about it since about 1998 (when I first heard about ‘flap and zap’).
Considered Wavefront (Zyoptix) and had long discussion with Mr Daya about pros and cons. It seems that the re-treatment rates are much higher with Wavefront and that Centre for Sight are carrying out very few of these treatments now because the results without it are so good. I had the Wavefront measurements taken but turned out to have only very slight aberrations and so decided against Wavefront.
The results of the treatment are fantastic. No pain after a few hours (I was happily watching TV the evening of my treatment – treated at about midday). Had a nap in the car on the way home and for a couple of hours afterwards which I thoroughly recommend not least because it is so boring trying to keep your eyes shut to prevent watering. Woke up with no pain and pretty good vision.
Check up next day indicated 20/20+ vision (which is as good as my corrected vision ever was before). A week or so on, and I have no pain, dry eyes or night vision problems (being pessimistic/cautious by nature I assumed I’d get at least one of these) and vision seems as good as ever – 1 month check-up will no doubt tell me more.
As to the people, all staff the I’ve met are friendly and enthusiastic and at least one has had the treatment herself. Mr Daya was totally reassuring and I had no difficulty in placing absolute trust in him.
I do have a couple of minor gripes:-
1. At every appointment, (1 in Harley St., 3 in East Grinstead) I was seen much later than my appointed time – so don’t go there in a hurry.
2. The glasses you have to wear at night for six weeks are very uncomfortable ( I wake up with deep ridges in my cheeks which are still visible at lunchtime). I’ve got to find an alternative to last the six weeks!
As I say, minor gripes given the results. Would I recommend the treatment at Centre for Sight? – absolutely yes!
Just had Lasik performed by Mr Daya, I now have 20/15 vision in both eyes which is fantastic.
No discomfort during operation at all and it’s over before you know it. It’s more money but not one person including myself thought that was an issue once you’ve been treated by Mr Daya. Having one of the countries leading surgeons treating you was pretty re-assuring I have to say.
The next day I was up and about and back to normal save a few eye drops throughout the day.
They do look after you here, the fact that surgeries elsewhere that go wrong get referred to Mr Daya tells you just about all you need to know.
All of the staff were excellent. The equipment and location also seemed excellent. I am glad that I spent a bit more than the average, as I feel I got what I paid for.
I had major problems from having LASIK at Maxivision and they sent me to Mr Daya. I cannot recommend him enough, very professional and to the point.
At Maxivision it was like a production line. Not here. I felt comfortable even though having a really long operation and was able to speak directly to Mr Daya even at 1 am in the morning when I had some discomfort.
If you are thinking of LASIK go to this clinic as they fix problems other centres create so you know you are good hands
After just one month with my new vision, I still cannot believe that my long sightedness has been totally cured. Having worn glasses since the age of 3, (I am now in my forties) I have found the treatment totally life changing and a miracle cure that I never thought would be possible. The results are instant, and painless (except for when it comes to paying of course!). I could not recommend the treatment highly enough, and the place to have LASIK treatment has to be The Centre for Sight. Their expertise is second to none and I would not have trusted any other clinic with my precious eyesight.
