Accuvision Laser Eye Clinic

Established in 2001, AccuVision is a popular destination for people seeking quality, affordable laser eye surgery. This clinic currently operates in five cities nationwide: London, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol and Newcastle, and has performed over 40,000 treatments and counting.

What did independent inspectors find? According to the CQC’s latest report, there were no complaints between August 2016 and September 2017 from 1,011 refractive eye procedures carried out at AccuVision.

Is there anything else I should know? Most of the eye surgeons on our site enjoy five-star ratings, and the same is true for AccuVision. But it’s worth noting we only have 10 reviews for Dr Prashant Jindal.

Patients always want to find an ophthalmologist they feel comfortable with. That’s why it’s always a good idea to do your own research by trying to meet with your surgeon at an initial consultation, and many clinics offer these for free.

As well as common laser vision correction treatments – such as LASEK and LASIK with ultra-accurate Wavefront diagnostics – AccuVision also offers lens replacement surgery, including the UK’s most common surgical procedure: cataract surgery.

  1. LASIK eye surgery
  2. Trans-Epithelial Surface Treatment
  3. Lens replacement surgery
  4. ICL surgery (implantable contact lenses)
  5. Cataract surgery
  6. Amblyopia (lazy eye treatment)

So is it safe? AccuVision promises highly sophisticated, automated devices, with world-class Wavefront technology and the Alcon WaveLight EX500 Excimer laser. According to the clinic’s own study of 500 patients, everyone achieved at least driving standard vision following surgery (including repeat surgery).

AccuVision’s prices are reasonable rates in laser eye surgery. On average, 800 patients told Lasik Eyes they paid £1,200 (per eye) for laser eye surgery, and £3,615 (per eye) for lens replacement surgery (including cataract surgery) – few clinics have lower starting prices.

AccuVision doesn’t publish a fixed price list, but here are the costs you can expect for the most popular eye surgeries:

  • Consultation Price: Free for initial consultation
  • LASIK Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
  • Trans-Epi Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
  • C3R Treatment Price: Average cost £2,000 per eye

Here’s how these prices compare to the eye surgery quotes offered by other clinics:

Eye surgery isn’t an insignificant cost for most people. That’s why AccuVision offers a 10 month finance option, which lets you spread the costs of surgery after the initial deposit into smaller monthly fees. You will need to pass a credit check with Hitachi Capital to gain approval for this payment plan.

That said, most clinics provide finance plans for much longer – up to three years, and also team up with health insurers who may cover at least some of the costs of the surgery (which AccuVision doesn’t).

AccuVision has hundreds of positive patient reviews, making it one of the most popular laser eye clinics in the UK. It also features as one of the best laser eye surgery clinics in the UK, as well as making our list of the best laser eye surgery in London for raving customer reviews about its professional staff.

But is it right for you? If you happen to live near one of AccuVision’s clinics in London, Birmingham, Leeds or Bristol, you may want to pop in for a free consultation, and quiz the eye consultants there. I had wavefront Lasik at Accuvision on the 4th of December 2003… now, a month on, I can hardly remember ever needing glasses! I had a particularly difficult set of eyes – high astigmatism, thin corneas and large pupils – you name it, I had it! The operation itself was painless but scary. Thankfully, the nice nurse held my hand. Everyone did everything they could to help me relax and it was over before I knew it. The following four hours were uncomfortable, and I slept through most of them – waking up hourly to put my drops in. I woke up the next morning and could see the clock on GMTV!! A massive thank you to everyone at Accuvision – especially Vik, Darius, Nick Jones and the lovely nurse. Its a shame I can’t rate them higher than five stars!!

After being a contact lens and spectacle wearer for 29 years, I decided it was time to look into laser eye surgery. The final push came when my optician advised me to wear varifocal glasses, which would mean wearing larger frames, which were very unflattering to my face. After weeks of research, I had a 2 hour consultation at Accuvision, Fulham and was told that I was an ideal candidate for laser surgery. I was literally over the moon, but also a little anxious. As I am fifty years old and took my glasses of to read or wore reading glasses over contact lenses for short-sightedness and the other (left) was corrected for reading. I had surgery on the 8th December and felt very little discomfort during the procedure, I did feel very anxious and my legs wouldn’t stop shaking (it was a very cold day and my mind was playing tricks) the nurse assigned to me was very comforting and held my hand throughout the operation. The only discomfort I felt after surgery was a stinging, as though I had peeled a couple of pounds of strong onions, this lasted for about 11/2 hours. At that stage I couldn’t believe what I could see, through streaming eyes I could see the England Rugby team on TV. It has been three weeks since my surgery and I am totally overjoyed with my eye-sight, I am in my second year of a teaching degree and use the computer/internet regularly, I can now differentiate between a full stop and a comma, which I couldn’t do before with or without glasses/contact lenses. The whole team at Accuvision were very professional and supportive, they took time to discuss any fears or anxiety I experienced before, during or after surgery, and if I experience any problems now all I have to do is ring and I can speak to someone first hand (not an answer phone) any time of day. I give the whole team at Accuvision a first class grading of 5 and a big THANK YOU! By the way my cheque didn’t clear until a week after surgery, but they didn’t make a big deal about it. I feel I chose the best after a lot of research and fully recommend Accuvision. If anyone wants to ask any questions about my procedure, feel free to e-mail me.

I had my surgery three weeks ago after what has amounted to a seven year deliberation. My prescription was -10 sph, -2.75 and -12 sph, -1.5 cyl so you could say I was more than a little short-sighted. I have worn glasses or contact lenses since I was seven years old. I am now 39. When I finally decided to go for an assessment, I chose Accuvision. I saw their ad in the newspaper and then checked out both their website and this website and felt comfortable that they were a good start to this quest. My expectations were split between being totally unsuitable and being suitable for a partial correction. So when I had my first appontment with Joan, who explained all the measurements, the safe thresholds that Accuvision worked within and that they could aim for total correction although the final outcome was dependent on the healing process, I became quite excited. A few days later, I booked myself in for the surgery.

The surgery itself, performed by Chad Rostron, went very well and my anxiety beforehand was well misplaced. After the surgery, I felt no pain and very little discomfort. At the one week assessment with Vikash, my right eye was 20/20 and my left was a little less which actually means I can see as good, if not better, now than I ever could with glasses or contact lenses.

I, personally cannot say that Accuvision are better than any other clinic because they are the only one I experienced. But the people are informative and friendly, their technology is well advanced and I am one happy customer. Many thanks to Joan, Chad and Vikash et al for making a difference in my life.

Having heard about the Accuvision laser clinic opening up almost two years ago, which was supposed to be using the latest state of the art laser treatment (Wavefront). I started researching the web to see what it was all about. Finally after months of sifting through all the information, I decided to make a trip to Accuvision for a consultation, forearmed with the knowledge that my opticians had previously told me I had an irregular corneal shape. They picked this up in the examination. Daryus and Vik explained to me, that although this might be a contraindication for treatment by most clinics and that they would like to ask me to come back at intervals to see any changes that might be occur in the eye. I went back to the clinic at six monthly intervals for the examinations.

In June 2003, I was told the eyes were stable and they were happy to operate. The kind of service they provided where the emphasis was on the patient’s wellbeing and satisfactory long-term outcome was amazing. I truly felt that the staff wanted clinical excellence above all and not just a production line like surgery.

On the day of the surgery, Mike explained at length the procedure and what to do post-op. In the time that I had waited for all my examinations, Accuvision were going to treat my eyes using their new topography customised treatment. The op went well and within the next day from a prescription of 3.5 and 3.0 with astigmatism I was down to 0 and had 20/20 vision.

I had no problems with the eyes apart from the slight dryness that I experienced for a week. At the one-month post-op examination I was told I had 20/15 vision in both eyes. Apart from the amazement of being relieved of the burden of wearing glasses, what I would sum up my vision as being “pin sharp” and “crisp”.

Almost six months down the line my vision is stable with the vision of a hawk…yaay. Thanks to all at Accuvision including Mike, Daryus & Vik.

At age 37 my long sight was becoming more of a problem as I got older. I had worn contact lenses since I was in my late 20’s and had some damage to my eyes as a result of excessive wear. Basically I had grown extra blood vessels due to my eyes being starved of oxygen. This then resulted in having to wear glasses which I hated, and by the end of the day I struggled to see clearly even with glasses on. I remember not being able to read a menu with my glasses on, and decided I had to find out about laser treatment.

I had changed my optician and asked her about laser treatment to be told I would not be suitable because my sight prescription was too high, +4.75 and +3.75, and because I had ‘dry’ eyes. My heart sank. Still, she recommended I find out for sure and I telephoned several clinics including Optimax, Ultralase and Accuvision. The first two advised me that my prescription was too high to be treated, but they could have a go at one eye, although they didn’t think the result would be very good. It was cheaper, about half the price of Accuvision, but I was not prepared to chance my eyesight for only minimal improvement. They didn’t have the technology that Accuviosion had hence the lower cost. I received a lot of brochures and telephone calls from sales staff, even though they had said I wasn’t a suitable candidate.

After a telephone converation with Accuvision I travelled the 70 miles to London for a consultation. I felt like I was clutching at straws and had braced myself for the liklihood that I would be turned down for treatment. Initially they were concerned about my dry eyes and sent me to another nearby location to have further tests. Finally, once they were happy with the results I heard the magic words that they could treat me. I was so excited, a life free of glasses. They were totally honest with me from the start and told me that they thought 20/20 vision was unlikely, but that somewhere close to that was achievable. That was fine by me. I was having to wear glasses from the time I got out of bed until I got back in it.

I had my wavefront guided lasik treatment on 29 May 2003. I was very nervous on the day, but all the staff there are very nice and put you at ease. I felt sensation during the lasik treatment but no pain, it only took minutes per eye. I had some problems with very dry eyes and had to use a lot of eye drops. I had fluctuating vision and I experienced halos around light at night time for a few weeks. I had been warned this may happen, especially as I had already had dry eyes. My vision was in effect very short sighted whilst my eyes were very dry and I couldn’t drive. I had my follow up appointments with Vikash Patel who was brilliant. If I was worried I telephoned and staff were always there to reassure me.

Now just over four months since the treatment I don’t need glasses for reading, driving – anything. I haven’t got 20/20 vision in both eyes, my left eye is slightly short sighted, but it doesn’t cause me any problems. Not a day goes past when I don’t wonder at my amazing sight. It was the best £4000 I have ever spent.

If you are thinking of having lasik treatment I would thoroughly recommend Accuvision and to consider the following:
Take your time and do your research thoroughly,
Don’t be harassed by ‘hard sell’ companies,
Remember you generally get what you pay for, and lastly
You can’t put a price on your eyesight.

I have been delighted with all of my care and would like to thank all at Accuvision especially Joan, Darius and Vikash. If you wish to contact me about my own experience please do so at sallyjennings66@hotmail.com
