Accuvision Laser Eye Clinic

Established in 2001, AccuVision is a popular destination for people seeking quality, affordable laser eye surgery. This clinic currently operates in five cities nationwide: London, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol and Newcastle, and has performed over 40,000 treatments and counting.

What did independent inspectors find? According to the CQC’s latest report, there were no complaints between August 2016 and September 2017 from 1,011 refractive eye procedures carried out at AccuVision.

Is there anything else I should know? Most of the eye surgeons on our site enjoy five-star ratings, and the same is true for AccuVision. But it’s worth noting we only have 10 reviews for Dr Prashant Jindal.

Patients always want to find an ophthalmologist they feel comfortable with. That’s why it’s always a good idea to do your own research by trying to meet with your surgeon at an initial consultation, and many clinics offer these for free.

As well as common laser vision correction treatments – such as LASEK and LASIK with ultra-accurate Wavefront diagnostics – AccuVision also offers lens replacement surgery, including the UK’s most common surgical procedure: cataract surgery.

  1. LASIK eye surgery
  2. Trans-Epithelial Surface Treatment
  3. Lens replacement surgery
  4. ICL surgery (implantable contact lenses)
  5. Cataract surgery
  6. Amblyopia (lazy eye treatment)

So is it safe? AccuVision promises highly sophisticated, automated devices, with world-class Wavefront technology and the Alcon WaveLight EX500 Excimer laser. According to the clinic’s own study of 500 patients, everyone achieved at least driving standard vision following surgery (including repeat surgery).

AccuVision’s prices are reasonable rates in laser eye surgery. On average, 800 patients told Lasik Eyes they paid £1,200 (per eye) for laser eye surgery, and £3,615 (per eye) for lens replacement surgery (including cataract surgery) – few clinics have lower starting prices.

AccuVision doesn’t publish a fixed price list, but here are the costs you can expect for the most popular eye surgeries:

  • Consultation Price: Free for initial consultation
  • LASIK Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
  • Trans-Epi Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
  • C3R Treatment Price: Average cost £2,000 per eye

Here’s how these prices compare to the eye surgery quotes offered by other clinics:

Eye surgery isn’t an insignificant cost for most people. That’s why AccuVision offers a 10 month finance option, which lets you spread the costs of surgery after the initial deposit into smaller monthly fees. You will need to pass a credit check with Hitachi Capital to gain approval for this payment plan.

That said, most clinics provide finance plans for much longer – up to three years, and also team up with health insurers who may cover at least some of the costs of the surgery (which AccuVision doesn’t).

AccuVision has hundreds of positive patient reviews, making it one of the most popular laser eye clinics in the UK. It also features as one of the best laser eye surgery clinics in the UK, as well as making our list of the best laser eye surgery in London for raving customer reviews about its professional staff.

But is it right for you? If you happen to live near one of AccuVision’s clinics in London, Birmingham, Leeds or Bristol, you may want to pop in for a free consultation, and quiz the eye consultants there. My eyes were originally approx -6.75 (right) and -5.5. Originally operated on in August 2004 (Wavefront) and the initial results were VERY poor. After one month they had improved alot..but only to -0.75/+0.75 left and right -0.75. I was after having them redone, but I knew I would have to wait slightly longer anyway for a re-op. 2 months later my eyes had not changed more and they re-operated. Before the 2nd op I could go about my daily business just fine and was feeling reasonably happy viewing the world – just slightly short sighted, strong second image in my weaker eye (with wavefront surely this should never happen?!) , but I had no haze and low light levels were fine.
After the second op, I came off with a hazy view of the world, although I could tell of a slight refraction improvement behind it. The main problem I have now 2 months after the 2nd op is the continual presence of haze all day long, which in my honest opinion hasn't changed since the days after the op and is really getting to me – big problem regarding my visual acuity and my general confidence in how I go about in the world. Viewing things .e.g. number plate distances.. seems very poor..at times not being able to read them until right on top of my car. Night vision – I seem to be noticing trouble now (even though I have large pupils anyway)..changing to stronger light bulbs and using more lights in the house.
Having been through 2 lasing of my eyes and witnessing the healing 1st time round, I am starting to strongly worry about the outcome of my eyes – another 2 months, 1/2, 1 year's time, the same strong haze afflicting my view will still be with me?…nobody can say for sure.
Now I wish maybe I never had the second op done. But also I wish I never had the WHOLE thing done altogether. I had completely perfect vision with contact lenses – I miss that ALOT – being able to read signs properly in the street and seeing into the distance clearly. Although my reason for having the op was the discomfort of the lenses after years of wearing them….my eyes still feel dry and irritable at times now anyway.
My advice – it IS a gamble people..there are people who wish they didn't have it done – like myself. I was no boarder line case either – health, age condition of my eyes. One massive long waiting game for myself now with no sure outcome at the end.
A rating of 3*….a little meaningless.. how can anyone really rate a service like this against another one – you only have it once/twice with the same clinic.

It's now 2 1/2 years since my wavefront guided lasik with accuvission and about 1 1/2 years since my last review on this site. To recap I had +6.5 long sight & it took over a year for my eyes to settle down. I still have 20/20 vision within the conditions of an optition – however they do notice my astigmatism which Accuvision said they sorted out. I recently failed a driving test on not being able to read the number plate. My vision is poor in dim lighting, in all but the most overcast days I need sunglasses. My partner thinks it's the worst £3k I ever spent! However I still feel liberated by not wearing glasses, sunglasses I can cope with (that's what they're for!) & lights are there at night. I have phoned Accuvision but was told by the receptionist I'd have to pay for extra treatment as it's more than a year since I had it done.

I had been wearing glasses or contacts for about 25 years with a prescription of -5.5 & -5.75. I wanted corrective surgery but waited until I found a recommended, safe procedure. Accuvision were suggested to me by a neighbour who had his eyes corrected there a year previous and had experinced no problems. The free consultation was extremely thorough & profeessional, plus the specialist surgeon performing the procedure instilled confidence. The whole procedure took about 20 minutes. It was rather like going to the dentist…but not as bad! The next day I could see fine, with just a slight dry itching and two weeks later it was as if I'd never had glasses! After 6 weeks I have better than 20:20 vision. I'd recommend it.

The whole team at accuvision were great. Initial consultations were very informative and surgery time was quick and efficient with lots of support from the surgeons and whole team. The surgery itself wasnt painful, just uncomfortable for a few minutes, with a lifteme worth of benefits. After care is also great with a 24hr number should you need it. Highly recommend going to accuvision if you are considering laser treatment.

I thought about having Laser Surgery about 3 years ago, but that was as far as it went until my friend had hers done and said how fantastic it was. So I rang round a number of companies only to be told that they could not do my prescription, it was Accuision and one other company that said it could be done. I opted for the other company as it was only 300 miles from where I live in Scotland and Accuvision was 600. I went for my consultation in July this year and all was well, I told them that I have Ulcerated Colitis and it was put in my notes and nothing mentioned about it. I booked to have the surgery at the end of July. My husband and I travelled overnight so we could get to the clinic for the 9.50 appointment. I was very excited and also very scared, but the thought that I would be able to see spurred me on. I was called into the consulting room and the surgeon looked at my notes and straight away said he was unable to treat because of the colitis, he had to tell me 3 times before I was able to take in what he was saying and I just cried and cried, I couldnt understand why it was not mentioned to me at the consultion. Over the past 4 months I have been in contact with the company and they keep saying they will be able to do it some time when they have some new equipment installed. A month ago my daughter had her eyes done and it made me want mine done even more when I saw what great results she had, so my husband told me to ring Accuvision even though it would be a long journey.
I rang and made an appointment for 6.12.04, consultation at 10am and the treatment at 2pm if all was well, we travelled down on the Sunday and stayed overnight so we could get to the 10am appointment. I had my consultation and was told the surgery could go ahead and would I like to have it done straight away, so I said yes and was out of the clinic by mid-day. It was a very quick and painless treatment and I could see straight away. Everyone in the clinic was so nice and made you feel you was the only person they had to deal with that day. We went back to the hotel and I kept my eyes closed for the rest of the day as much as I could, we had a meal in the hotel restaurant so I wouldnt have to go outside incase dust got into my eyes. Next day we went back for the check-up and my right eye that I couldnt read the top letters with the day before could read the bottom line of letters, fantastic. I had no pain or discomfort at any time, I just get dry eyes which is quite normal and I use tear drops throughout the day. I have been to Aberdeen to have my first week follow-up and the optician was impressed by my new eyes, all is well and I am just delighted with the results. My right prescription was
Sph+4 Cyl-5 Axis22.
I am so glad that my husband made me ring Accuvision as I would still be waiting and waiting on the other company, I just wish I had rung them first. If anyone is thinking of having Laser Surgery, dont hesitate, it is so great to be able to see. I am 50 and have worn glasses for 43 years, it takes a bit of getting used to not putting on your glasses when you get up.
If you would like to email me about the surgery I would be more than happy to answer any questions.
