Accuvision Laser Eye Clinic

Established in 2001, AccuVision is a popular destination for people seeking quality, affordable laser eye surgery. This clinic currently operates in five cities nationwide: London, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol and Newcastle, and has performed over 40,000 treatments and counting.

What did independent inspectors find? According to the CQC’s latest report, there were no complaints between August 2016 and September 2017 from 1,011 refractive eye procedures carried out at AccuVision.

Is there anything else I should know? Most of the eye surgeons on our site enjoy five-star ratings, and the same is true for AccuVision. But it’s worth noting we only have 10 reviews for Dr Prashant Jindal.

Patients always want to find an ophthalmologist they feel comfortable with. That’s why it’s always a good idea to do your own research by trying to meet with your surgeon at an initial consultation, and many clinics offer these for free.

As well as common laser vision correction treatments – such as LASEK and LASIK with ultra-accurate Wavefront diagnostics – AccuVision also offers lens replacement surgery, including the UK’s most common surgical procedure: cataract surgery.

  1. LASIK eye surgery
  2. Trans-Epithelial Surface Treatment
  3. Lens replacement surgery
  4. ICL surgery (implantable contact lenses)
  5. Cataract surgery
  6. Amblyopia (lazy eye treatment)

So is it safe? AccuVision promises highly sophisticated, automated devices, with world-class Wavefront technology and the Alcon WaveLight EX500 Excimer laser. According to the clinic’s own study of 500 patients, everyone achieved at least driving standard vision following surgery (including repeat surgery).

AccuVision’s prices are reasonable rates in laser eye surgery. On average, 800 patients told Lasik Eyes they paid £1,200 (per eye) for laser eye surgery, and £3,615 (per eye) for lens replacement surgery (including cataract surgery) – few clinics have lower starting prices.

AccuVision doesn’t publish a fixed price list, but here are the costs you can expect for the most popular eye surgeries:

  • Consultation Price: Free for initial consultation
  • LASIK Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
  • Trans-Epi Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
  • C3R Treatment Price: Average cost £2,000 per eye

Here’s how these prices compare to the eye surgery quotes offered by other clinics:

Eye surgery isn’t an insignificant cost for most people. That’s why AccuVision offers a 10 month finance option, which lets you spread the costs of surgery after the initial deposit into smaller monthly fees. You will need to pass a credit check with Hitachi Capital to gain approval for this payment plan.

That said, most clinics provide finance plans for much longer – up to three years, and also team up with health insurers who may cover at least some of the costs of the surgery (which AccuVision doesn’t).

AccuVision has hundreds of positive patient reviews, making it one of the most popular laser eye clinics in the UK. It also features as one of the best laser eye surgery clinics in the UK, as well as making our list of the best laser eye surgery in London for raving customer reviews about its professional staff.

But is it right for you? If you happen to live near one of AccuVision’s clinics in London, Birmingham, Leeds or Bristol, you may want to pop in for a free consultation, and quiz the eye consultants there. I had my surgery on 28th April 2005 (some time ago now), and can say now that time has past, that I have the same opinion now that I had the day after surgery: The best thing I could have spent money on!

It's easy to forget how much of an inconvenience wearing glasses was. I sat down to watch telly the other night and even after all this time I had an urge to reach out for them. It's just such a relief not to have to bother with them anymore. I love swimming, whether it's in the sea or local pool, and now I have 20-15 vision I find that I am going more often.

This is all down to Accuvision. I admit I went to them with the only recommendation being a magazine article, so from that point of view I was taking a risk. But after seeing how professional they are at my consultation I knew that I could trust them. In particular, my consultant Vik Patel was excellent. He was very calming, reassuring and explained everything to the last detail.

So if you are considering whether it is a good idea to go through with this proceedure, go and see Accuvision and they put your mind at rest.

And lastly, if you are thinking about going to a cheaper 'back ally' clinic to have this done, remember a quote from the magazine article I read: 'Save money on clothes and shoes, not eye surgery'.

I had my treatment at Accuvision on 21st July (done by Mr Pandit), to correct a prescription of around -4.0 in both eyes, with some slight astigmatism. I initially had my consultation with Joan Moore about three weeks previous to the treatment. As well as putting up with my endless stream of questions, they were careful to explain the risks to me, and tell me what outcome I should realistically expect. My experience of them so far is that they have been very professional.

If you want to go ahead with the treatment you MUST understand the risks involved, as you'll be expected to sign a consent form which virtually waives any legal implications on Accuvision's part if it goes wrong.

As for the treatment itself, it wasn't painful, but it was uncomfortable. I just could not get it out of my mind that the surgeon was about to cut a flap in the front of my eye! However, the operation was completed, and Mr Pandit said it went perfectly. I was sent out into the waiting room, checked again about half an hour after the treatment to make sure the flap was in place, and then went off to the hotel to rest. I didn't experience any major discomfort, just a feeling of “grittyness” in the eye for a little while, and I applied the drops I'd been given like clockwork.

I turned up the next day for my follow-up, and I was disappointed to say the least – my vision was extremely blurry, I had a lot of halos/glare from lights, and when I took an eye test I barely made driving standard (which I think is 20/40). I was even more upset when I spoke to the chap who got treated immediately before me, and he said his vision was perfect from the moment he walked out of the operation! I was reassured by the Accuvision that the treatment was successful and the flap was healing nicely, and that things would improve over the week. I still was very upset though!

The next morning though, things were very different – vision was much improved, although still blurry and lots of glare around lights. As the week has progressed, my vision has steadily got better and better. I still have glare around lights – but this is definitely improving – but at the moment according to my makeshift eyechart I can see better than I could with my glasses.

I had a follow-up one week after the surgery, and my left eye showed 20/20, with my right eye slightly worse. I also was experiencing headaches which I think was due to my right eye “straining” to compensate. Accuvision again said not to worry, everything was healing OK, and then sent me away to return in about a month. Again, my vision continued to improve (and fluctuate!) on a daily basis.

I've just been for another follow-up today, and am happy to say that I now can see the 20/15 line on the chart! Result! :-) Both eyes are roughly the same strength, and I no longer get any headaches. I still get halos and starbursts around bright lights, but this does seem to be getting better. There is a slight issue with the left eye – I have some small “epicells” (don't ask me!) on the eye, and it may involve lifting the flap again to get rid of them. I'll know a bit more at the next appointment.

Finally, to say again – you MUST understand the risks before you proceed – it can go wrong, and it is your eyesight after all. If you decide to go for it, you must also be very patient – some people get fast results, others like me take a bit longer to heal. Your eyesight can fluctuate on a daily basis for the first few months as mine has.
Other than that though, if you really are considering eye surgery you could do far worse that go to Accuvision – you only have to read the feedback on this site to know that they are one of the best. Good luck!

After starting to wear glasses circa 1997 just for reading and working at the computer and ten years later having to wear them practically for everything, I knew it was time for action. Having thoroughly reviewed many many eye clinics offerings (including Harley Street)and conducted research over a period of six months, I finally based my decision on four key ingredients, listed now in order. Surgeon qualifications and availability, top technology, the best rating on this site after taking into account the number of people rating the clinic in comparison to the actual rating score and finally, value for money (not that one should ever put a price on eyesight). There was only one, in my opinion, that stood out head and shoulders above the rest – Accuvision. I'm not going to go into masses of detail 'cos it's been highlighted many many times in the many many reviews you read here. I will simply make these observations: they do what it says on their website, 110% professional but with good humour and the most wonderful way of making you feel relaxed, comfortable and SAFE. Cannot thank the entire team enough. 24 hours was all my little miracle took and I've never used glasses since the surgery was done in early June 2005. 99.9% 20/20 vision and mine was complicated!! 10 x better than a dentist visit and 100 x better than a female healthcheck ;-) Get your appointment booked now.

I had surgery at Solihull on 28th July. After my original consultation I was very impressed with the clinic, the atmosphere was excellant.Nick was superb during my examination and answered all the questiones I had, even looking at the ones Id printed from this site. I was shown the operating room and the laser. I was so confidant and relaxed. The consultation lasted just over an hour. Anyway I checked out another clinic but they just couldnt live up to the standards shown by nick danash, who was very easy to talk to and honest. On surgery day I arrived at the clinic, some people were waiting for surgery others sat with their eyes shut (this was advised after surgery as it helps the healing process) The atmosphere was relaxed and the clinic staff were friendly and helpful, I felt totally at ease, as did the majority of people in the clinic. My prescription was -3.00 and -2.75 with an astigmatism in one eye, I also had a thinner than normal lens and my pupils were very large. I went in for an examination on machines that fed the laser information, then went to meet the surgeon who checked my eyes and was happy with proceeding. I was taken through to the laser room and given drops, the staff were 100%, a nurse asked if I wanted her to hold my hand and apologised because her hands were cold. The first eye was started, drops were added and then the machine which cuts the lens was put on my eye, the cut lasted approx 1-2 seconds (at which time everything goes black) once lifted off everything was very burred, more drops and I could see the surgeon brushing my eye, the laser was switched on and I could smell burning (this is not your eye it is apparently the laser evaporating the drops on the eye)this lasted 13 seconds, more drops then the lens put back and a contact lens placed on my eye(to help the healing and stop infection)
A wait of maybe 5 minutes followed whilst the laser was checked and reset. The same procedure for the other eye but the laser was actually on my eye for 30 seconds this time. The time goes very fast. I was amazed by the number of drops that the surgeaon kept putting in my eye throughout the procedure. Immediatly after I could see (blurred slightly ) the surgeon examined my eyes immediatly and was happy. I walked back to the waiting room and sat with my eyes shut. Approx 15/20 minutes later further drops were added to my eye and I was ready to leave, I had to put drops in my eyes every hour until bed time when you tape hard clear plastic lens to stop you rubbing your eyes in the night, (I worn sunglasses until bedtime to stop me rubbing my eyes.
THERE WAS NO PAIN DURING SURGERY. The only discomfort was for the 4 hours after surgery and this was similiar ro an eyelash in your eye, or when you leave your contact lenses in too long -this went off when the drops were added.
The next day I returned to the clinic and the contact lens was removed – my vision was really good, very slightly blurred, this improved when the lens was removed. I could see clearly – my vision was 20/20. I have been for my second check up and stopped using the drops, Im going for my third check up tomorrow. My vision is 100%. I can read a book, work at the computer, drive its amazing.
The staff at solihull are amazing, 100% professional and worth every penny.I wish Id done this sooner it really is fantastic.
