1. Review of AccuVision Laser Eye Clinic

Established in 2001, AccuVision is a popular destination for people seeking quality, affordable laser eye surgery. This clinic currently operates in five cities nationwide: London, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol and Newcastle, and has performed over 40,000 treatments and counting.

What did independent inspectors find? According to the CQC’s latest report, there were no complaints between August 2016 and September 2017 from 1,011 refractive eye procedures carried out at AccuVision.

Is there anything else I should know? Most of the eye surgeons on our site enjoy five-star ratings, and the same is true for AccuVision. But it’s worth noting we only have 10 reviews for Dr Prashant Jindal.

Patients always want to find an ophthalmologist they feel comfortable with. That’s why it’s always a good idea to do your own research by trying to meet with your surgeon at an initial consultation, and many clinics offer these for free.

2. AccuVision Treatments

As well as common laser vision correction treatments – such as LASEK and LASIK with ultra-accurate Wavefront diagnostics – AccuVision also offers lens replacement surgery, including the UK’s most common surgical procedure: cataract surgery.

  1. LASIK eye surgery
  2. Trans-Epithelial Surface Treatment
  3. Lens replacement surgery
  4. ICL surgery (implantable contact lenses)
  5. Cataract surgery
  6. Amblyopia (lazy eye treatment)

So is it safe? AccuVision promises highly sophisticated, automated devices, with world-class Wavefront technology and the Alcon WaveLight EX500 Excimer laser. According to the clinic’s own study of 500 patients, everyone achieved at least driving standard vision following surgery (including repeat surgery).

3. AccuVision Laser Eye Clinic Prices

AccuVision’s prices are reasonable rates in laser eye surgery. On average, 800 patients told Lasik Eyes they paid £1,200 (per eye) for laser eye surgery, and £3,615 (per eye) for lens replacement surgery (including cataract surgery) – few clinics have lower starting prices.

AccuVision doesn’t publish a fixed price list, but here are the costs you can expect for the most popular eye surgeries:

  • Consultation Price: Free for initial consultation
  • LASIK Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
  • Trans-Epi Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
  • C3R Treatment Price: Average cost £2,000 per eye

Here’s how these prices compare to the eye surgery quotes offered by other clinics:

TreatmentOptical Express Cost (per eye)Optegra Cost (per eye)Optimax Cost (per eye)Centre for Sight Cost (per eye)
LASIK / LASEKFrom £595£1,795£1,695£2,400
Cataract SurgeryFrom £3,195£2,495£2,995From £3,150
ICL SurgeryFrom £3,395£3,495£2,495£3,615

Eye surgery isn’t an insignificant cost for most people. That’s why AccuVision offers a 10 month finance option, which lets you spread the costs of surgery after the initial deposit into smaller monthly fees. You will need to pass a credit check with Hitachi Capital to gain approval for this payment plan.

That said, most clinics provide finance plans for much longer – up to three years, and also team up with health insurers who may cover at least some of the costs of the surgery (which AccuVision doesn’t).

I had my eyes lasered with Accuvision just over a year ago and can honestly say it is the best thing I have ever done. The expense was a large one for me, however I was never at any point pressurized into going ahead with treatment – the advice and initial consultation was all free and I felt that I would be totally safe in the surgeons hands. So safe that I even turned up alone on the day of surgery – and when it all became too overwhelming the lovely nurse held my hand and the whole team were so attentive during and after the process. The next day waking up, opening my eyes and being able to see was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I have since been back for regular checkups and my eyes are still perfect now. Highly recommended.

My name is Linda Ramsden and I have had lens implants and monovision for one year now and it's fantastic. On 18th March 2010 I had my assessment at Accuvision, Solihull, Birmingham, the assessment took about an hour. As I always wear contact lenses I had to leave these out for a week to give my eyes a rest for the assessment to be accurate. This I hated as my latest prescription (31.12.09) in my right eye was -12.75 (sph), -1.25 (cyl), 3.5 (axis) and my left eye -9.50 (sph), -3.00 (cyl), 1.70 (axis). As you can imagine I was extremely short-sighted and wanted to do something about it. I had the assessment and found out that I was not a candidate for laser treatment, this would have meant that laser surgery would still leave me with wearing glasses, this was not an option. So I decided to have lens implants at a cost of £5,000, which seems a lot of money but when you are spending £65.00 every month on contact lens and glasses every two years (£300.00) I would soon get my money back. The next step was to travel down to Accuvision in London to meet Mr Chad Rostron the eye consultant to assess if I am able to have lens implants. My friend and I travelled down to London on 19th March met Mr Chad Rostron, had my assessment, I then paid and booked for lens implants, no going back now! Mr Chad Rostron explained that I would have to travel down to the Opthalmic Surgery Centre in Colindale London to have one eye operated on and four weeks later travel back down to London to have my other eye operated on. This still did not deter me from having lens implants. I felt nervous and excited but kept thinking of waking up and seeing the alarm clock next the bed, how wonderful! My surgery dates are Wednesday 2nd May 2.30pm and Monday 28th June 1.30pm. You are advised to not travel on public transport so my husband and I travelled down on 2nd from Birmingham to London. I was very nervous but felt it was the right thing to do. We arrived at the surgery centre and I completed the necessary forms for the surgery. Mr Chad Rostron stated that I will be having my left eye operated on first as this will be my reading vision. He marked my forehead with an arrow above my left eye which seemed strange. My husband and I were taken upstairs and we sat in a ward. Here I had an enormous amount of drops in my left eye to anaesthetise it and dilate the pupil, this stung and made my eye water. I was then led by a nurse into the operating room where I had my eye anaesthetised with a local anaethestic. This involved having an injection below the eye which I must say was definitely not nice. This hurt the most. After than the surgery seemed a doddle. During the surgery I was aware of some shadows through my left eye then it was all over. A lovely nurse held my hand all the way through the operation which I was glad. After surgery I felt shocked they gave me some water and asked me to sit in a chair until I felt that I was ok to stand up. My left eye was patched and this was to stay on until the following morning. The centre gave me all the necessary drops for my eye to help recovery. We travelled home, I slept most of the way. The following day I removed my bandage and my eye looked very sore. Can I say if you have this procedure make sure that you lie down after you take off your bandage as my head began to spin I lay down with my feet up and took it steady for the next few days. For the following few days my eye felt gritty and sore, the drops did sting but definitely helped the healing process. The following week I had a check up at Solihull Accuvision and my eye was healing superbly. As my left eye was my reading vision I did feel that I hadn't gained much vision at all and when I put my contact lens in my right eye I did feel giddy although this took a couple of days for my brain to get used to. I could not wear my glasses this was a total no no as my head felt like it was going to spin out of control. Every day I had to put the eye drops in. Four weeks later my husband and I travelled back to London and I had my right eye operated on. The anaethestic needle to numb my eye definitely hurt more this time. Think it's because I knew what was coming and Ow did it hurt. The surgery as mentioned before seemed a doddle. Mr Chad Rostron did state after the surgery that my eye had bled during the surgery and the white of my eye would be red but not to worry as this would drain over the next few weeks. Mr Chad Rostron was very professional and he excels in his profession as an eye surgeon. My husband and I travelled home to Birmingham. The following day I removed my bandage, remembering to put my feet up and take it steady. What a WOW factor this was, as soon as I took off my bandage I could see the painting on the other side of the bedroom every detail. What a WOW factor, even though I looked like I had an Orc eye from the Lord of the Rings this did not matter, my vision was perfect, I was able to read close up and then look up to see distance. FANTASTIC. I was told previously that my brain would take time to get used to monovision but it seemed to all fit into place. I had a check up at Solihull Accuvision a week later and my vision is spot on. What a feeling!! The eye drops continued for several weeks decreasing every week until no more drops. My last check up at Solihull was 3rd August and I came out of their smiling, my vision is brilliant. A year later and my vision is spot on I feel like the luckiest person ever. I would like to thank Mr Chad Rostron for his careful surgery hands and for giving me my sight back. If I had to I would do this all over again. Thank you Accuvision for everything.

Having worn glasses as a child and then contact lenses for 16 years, at the age of 32 I could no longer bear them in my eyes due to dryness. I desperately wanted to have laser surgery some years ago but was rejected as my corneas were too thin for the LASIK and LASEK treatments. I met Simon Falk by chance as I had read about some contact lenses which may have been worth a try. He suggested that I might be suitable for the Trans-Epithelial treatment Accuvision offer which turned out to be the case. I plucked up the courage to go ahead in May 2010 and am so pleased with the results. As I am now 50 and was at the point of needing glasses for long and short sightedness (aghhhhh!!) I also had the mono vision treatment. Initially my 'distance' eye was much slower than my 'reading' eye and I was a bit concerned although I was assured that if it didn't correct itself (which in fact it did), the eye could be re-treated. Three months later and I have almost perfect vision - only out by +0.25 in my distance eye. I do not wear glasses at all and it's fab! The surgery itself took minutes and there was discomfort afterwards - not a sharp pain but more of an ache and I found it difficult of open my eyes to put the eye drops in. Just took strong pain killers. Fearing I wouldn't sleep, I stayed up until 11pm - should have gone earlier. Slept fine and the pain was gone in the morning. Slight achiness over the next couple of days but that was all. I would thoroughly recommend the Leeds clinic. They are very professional, re-assuring and approachable and I am so happy with the results.

I had my surgery 9 months ago now and I don't have 20/20 vision in my right eye. I've been told that it may be because it's not healing correctly, although it's been the same ever since I came out of surgery. I noticed that they corrected it less than my previous glasses prescription, so I suspect that that was the problem, but they keep ducking that explanation and not giving me a straight answer. It all just seems a bit dodgy the way I'm being 'handled' as I've complained about this and tried to understand why it has happened after I paid an awful lot of money to have 20/20 vision. Otherwise my left eye is perfect and it's fantastic to not wear glasses!

After being turned down by a high street clinic, my husband did some research on the internet and we decided to go for a consultation at Accuvision as they treated what appeared to be more complex cases. I am delighted to say that they could help. I had my consultation on 20 May 2011. I was handed a pack to take away and look through but I had already decided that I wouldn't be needing a 'take away' I would be going through with the surgery. I booked that day and was lucky enough to be advised that there was a cancellation on 27 May 2011. I had the surgery yesterday and went back for a follow up appointment today to be advised that my vision is 20/20. Amazing! Yesterday I couldn't see anything at all without my specs, (my prescription was +6.5) and today I'm writing this without specs or squinting!! The consultant I saw put me at ease immediately. I asked any amount of 'silly questions' that were all answered in a very calm and reassuring manner. My husband was invited into the consultation and was present throughout the tests. Any questions that he asked were dealt with in exactly the same way. On the day of surgery, the consultant (Vik) took some further tests just to check that there had been no changes in my eyes. With that done I met the surgeon who fully explained the laser surgery process. Approximately 15 minutes later I was back in the reception area and recovering. The surgery itself is incredible. During the surgery the surgeon talks you through what is happening. There was no pain at all. Yes, you are fully awake and you can see some of what is going on but you do not feel it. Your eyes are a little 'waterlogged' for a while afterwards which soon clears. You are asked to put drops in every hour which is no great hassle (I put mine in at the side of a football pitch in the afternoon, about 4 hours later, as my son was playing in a County cup final for his school, by which time I could see quite clearly). The great thing for me was that I saw the same consultant from the first appointment. The service is a very personal one. It is geared towards you. Vik gave me all the options available (even saying 'you can do nothing at all and continue wearing glasses). I didn't mind wearing glasses, but was so dependant on them that if I put them down and couldn't find them I couldn't do anything! There was no 'pushy sales pitch'. I did not feel obliged to go through with the surgery just because I'd had the consultation. All of the staff at the Fulham clinic were very friendly and welcoming, taking time to sit and talk with you. Another good thing for patients is that everybody sits together. People that have just had the surgery, sit alongside people that are waiting to go in for surgery. It gives you a chance to talk to them about their experience and you can immediately see the impact it has had on them which takes away any last minute nerves. The service provided is very professional. The client is clearly most important and you walk away feeling that they have done everything possible to give you a positive experience. I would certainly recommend Accuvision to anybody considering laser eye surgery and if you have been turned down for treatment before and have been told that you are beyond help, you may not be.

My eyes were -3.0 and -2.75 with some astigmatism.

I checked out both Boots (in Reading) and Accuvision in Fulham, but felt much more confident with Accuvision. The consultation was very thorough (Darius was excellent) and I opted for Wavefront Guided LASIK.

I had the surgery just yesterday and can not heap enough praise on the staff. They keep you informed all the time as to what is going on, and were efficient and friendly.

Although the suction part is a bit scary and uncomfortable, the op was not as bad as I had expected. There was a very sweet Irish nurse who held my hand throughout and the laser part itself took only a few seconds.

Afterwards I was very sore and could hardly open my eyes for a few hours, but by the end of the first evening I could start to see fairly clearly!

This morning most of the pain has gone and my vision is astounding. There is still quite a lot of haziness, but that will pass apparently. I have been for the 24 hour post-op checkup (which Accuvision insist on to ensure that there is no sign of infection), and apparently my vision is 20/20.

My eyes look a mess (red blotches), but are improving all the time. I can’t believe that I am sitting here typing this just a day after surgery.

Yes Accuvision charge more than most, but then the Wavefront analysis is astounding. What price do you put on good vision? I couldn’t fault Accuvision for anything. It’s a first class service and I highly recommend them.

Dominic.

I have been wearing glasses and contact lenses for many years. I was a -10 in both eyes, I now have 20/20 vision in both eyes. I would like to thank all the staff at the Leeds clinic, not only for the care they provided before and during surgery but also for all the care provided after surgery. I would definitely recommend Accuvision to all my friends and family.

I had laser eye surgery at the Leeds clinic in December 2010. My left eye was -10.25 and the right eye was -7.00. I wore glasses for over 40 years and could not do anything without them, I even swam in them. The day after surgery I was reading the road signs on the way to my check up. I did suffer with dry eyes quite badly for a while and used drops to make my eyes more comfortable. Suddenly it just cleared up. I was in shock and totally overawed by the success of the surgery. Even now 5 months later I often stop and feel amazed although I have stopped boring everyone around me by saying it out loud. My left eye was adjusted for reading and my right one for distance. It took a little getting used to but I can read, drive, type as I am at the moment, I can see the bottles in the shower, I can see through the rain, to put on make up, hug someone without being careful of my glasses. I could go on and on. Accuvision staff were professional and approachable from the start and gave me the confidence to go ahead. The surgery was quick, I was reassured every step of the way. It has changed my life and I am so grateful to now have my precious eyesight restored.

Fed up of being totally reliant on glasses every waking moment? I was. Frightened to undergo Eye Correction laser surgery-just in case.....? I definitely was, especially as my cousin was left partially blind in one eye 10 years ago by one of the 'other' Major companies. Well, dont be!! look no further than this amazing clinic- ACCUVISION. at age 52, I believed myself too old for surgery, but Daryus soon assured me that their most recent patient had been 79! so my 'journey' began. i arranged a consultation with the unbelievably able (and humorous!) Simon-the Optometrist with all the answers-and more!-at the lovely, relaxed Wetherby Clinic. that was feb'11. on being informed i was a suitable candidate, i booked the appropriate surgery for my particular requirements; that was the Mono-Vision Laser treatment whereby my stronger eye undertakes the distance vision and my weaker one the reading aspect.with hindsight, my only mistake was booking for April 13th- two months hence-so that i could organise time off from work. it gave me too long to worry about things! so April 13th came and i confess to being terrified, but Simon calmed me and inserted the numbing eye drops. then came my turn and off i went up the stairs to my 'life changing' moment. In what seemed to be less than 10 minutes the job was done and i entered the recovery room. there was a very scary moment when my contact lens bandages came adrift, but this wonderful Team swiftly and expertly steered me back to surgery and corrected this set back! (THANKS TEAM!!) I later discovered this was due to my not blinking enough-or properly! Back home, i followed all the rules and retired strajght to bed-armed with two sets of eye drops to soothe and protect my 'new eyes.' i wont pretend i have not suffered discomfort-especially the 'Dry eye syndrome' but proper and regular blinking saw me through (cheers, Simon!) Well, that about portrays my particular experience at this amazing Clinic. Hope it helps those who are close to taking the major step. Three weeks and three days after surgery, I am slowly but surely adapting to my new, non-blurry world without glasses. Vipee! it is now MY choice if I ever want to wear them in the future because I now have at least 20/20 vision!! THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE AT ACCUVISION!!!
