Mr Vincenzo Maurino completed is ophthalmic training in Italy, where he became a board-qualified ophthalmologist in 1994. He moved to London that same year to complete specialist fellowship training in laser refractive surgery, corneal transplant surgery and cataract surgery at the world-leading clinic, Moorfields Eye Hospital.

I had wavefront surgery on both eyes in October 2011 and I have been very pleased with the results; 20:20 vision in both eyes. I went for a consultation with another well known firm prior to meeting Mr Maurino and I just did not feel as comfortable with the checks and procedures they had in place which is why I chose Moorfields and Mr Maurino. Mr Maurino and his team put me at ease before, during and after surgery and the follow up care has been brilliant. Shortly after surgery I had a little accident and visited Moorfields A&E department just to check that everything was alright. Before I had even left the hospital Mr Maurino was calling me on my mobile to check if everything was fine as his colleagues had told him that I was at the hospital. Now that is after-care. Yes it is a little pricey but the results are definitely worth it.

I have been lucky enough to have my eyes operated on by Mr Vincenzo Maurino and wanted to post here as I cannot recommend him highly enough. As someone who was highly shortsighted (-8.5) and therefore unable to function without contacts or glasses, I was still nervous about having my eyes operated on but can only say that the surgery was life changing. I initially underwent the LASIK procedure and although the operation was slightly uncomfortable (this bit only lasts a matter of seconds!) I was astounded by the fact that I could see well immediately. I bored everyone by reading every sign or poster I could see on my way home! My eyes healed wonderfully and I was left with only a slight residual myopia. Although I could now legally drive without any contacts or glasses, I was used to having near perfect vision with contact lenses so I opted for a top up procedure to correct the residual myopia. Just prior to the consultation, I became pregnant so decided to wait until after my baby was born and I had stopped breastfeeding before having the operation. After this short delay, I went for the follow up operation. Due to the thinness of my remaining operable area, this time I underwent the LASEK procedure. The operation is very different to LASIK and I was warned that my vision would initially be blurred and it would be very painful. The operation itself is painless but my vision was indeed blurred afterwards. Over the following couple of days my eyes began to heal. Yes, it was uncomfortable but entirely bearable and I only used the pain-killing drops for the first day after. Very quickly the pain reduced and my vision improved. I am delighted to say that I now have better than 20:20 vision and my quality of life has improved immeasurably. This is entirely due to the wonderful skill of Mr Vincenzo Maurino and have no hesitation in recommending him....in fact I have done to friends and family! Good eyesight is priceless and Mr Maurino has changed my life!

I would say to anyone who is considering having laser eye surgery but is worried about the procedure - put those fears to one side and go to Mr Maurino as he is a safe pair of hands. I had a high astigmatism in boths eyes and couldn't function without glasses and contacts but I had put off getting a consultation for years because I was scared. Finally, talked into it by friends and family, I went to see Mr Maurino who explained the procedure precisely and answered even my most stupid questions so I went away fully trusting him. The surgery itself was carried out so I felt comfortable as he reassured me throughout it and I knew exactly what to expect as it was explained so well beforehand -- and it seemed to pass very quickly. Now, I have 20/20 vision. It's changed my life completely and I can't thank Mr Maurino enough. My only regret is that I didn't get this done years ago.

I have always been scared of anything coming to close to my eyes and, despite being seriously short sighted, I was always afraid of surgery.I contacted Dr Maurino still not convinced about the procedure, but his professionalism and humanity in explaining the technicalities and consequences of the treatment convinced me to face Lasik. Surgery was uncomfortable but the whole process lasted only a few minutes and Dr Maurino and his valuable staff made sure I was always feeling looked after. The morning after the surgery I could finally read my alarm clock without having to stretch to get my glasses and my life changed for the better. I had no specific side effect further to surgery and the uncomfortable feeling passed in a couple of days. Follow up visits were arranged promptly and full attention was given to every doubts and questions I had also after the operation.
