Mr Kazakos is a board certified, fellowship trained corneal eye surgeon who has undergone additional specialist training in laser refractive surgery and is in private practice including Optical Express. He is an active member of various affiliated bodies and societies such as the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the United Kingdom and Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. Mr. Kazakos attends International Medical Advisory Board (IMAB) conferences and is annually assessed by this board. The panel consists of several of the world’s most eminent refractive surgeons including Mr. Steve Schallhorn, former Head of Ophthalmology for the US Navy, and Dr. Jan Venter, a world leading ophthalmic surgeon.
Mr Kazakos graduated from the prestigious Marmara University of Istanbul, Turkey in 1997. His ophthalmic residence was at the Oxford Eye Hospital, Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, Essex County Hospital, Ipswich General Hospital, Bristol Eye Hospital and Southampton Eye Unit for a Fellowship in Corneal and External Eye Diseases. He then returned to his native Greece where he completed his higher surgical training and received a Refractive Fellowship in the University of Crete with Prof. Pallikaris, the inventor of LASIK. Additionally, he has attended mini-fellowships in Refractive Surgery with some of the world’s most distinguished ophthalmologists including Prof. Richard Forster (Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miami, Florida, USA) and Prof. Theo Seiler (Institut für Refraktive und Ophtalmologische Chirurgie, Zurich, Switzerland).
His dedication to his profession and patients is evident from his clinical experience, patients’ feedback, involvement with research and continued attendance at seminars and conferences as both speaker and delegate.

I had the Lasik Acu Wavefront Intralase procedure done at the Dublin branch of Optical Express in Wellington Road on Thurs 5 Feb 2009. I was short-sighted with a prescription of -3.00 and -3.25, but now have better than 20/20 vision! Mr Dimitris Kazakos performed the surgery and he was excellent, very professional and friendly and he put me at my ease immediately. He explained what he was doing at each stage and it passed very quickly. I had it all over in about 10 minutes. Afterwards I was taken in to the very comfortable waiting room where my after care routine was very clearly explained to me by Paul, one of the surgical assistants. I could have actually left after half an hour but my lift wasn’t coming for a couple of hours so I was kindly allowed to continue waiting in the room and relax until my lift arrived. Apart from some grittiness directly after the procedure I have had no problems at all. I have two small children under 3 and the convenience of not having to bother with glasses and contact lenses has been amazing, it is well worth the money. I would highly recommend Dimitris and Optical Express!

I had the Lasik procedure performed on 9 April, just one week ago and it is life changing! I still feel that it was all a dream and that I will wake up and have to reach for my glasses in the morning! Apart from the misty vision immediately after and a bit of streaming due to light sensitivity my vision is now 20/20, I am looking at the world through new eyes. Thank you to all the team at Optical Express, Cribbs Causeway and a special thank you to Dimitri Kazakos for making me feel so relaxed prior to the procedure, for answering any questions I had and for his total reassurance/confidence regarding the procedure. I would recommend this to anyone who is considering laser surgery and would especially recommend Mr Kazakos. Once again a big THANK YOU!

I had my standard mechanical LASIK surgery on 27/3/09 in Dublin. At all times before and after surgery Mr. Kazakos and his staff made me feel totally at ease.Although my eyesight before surgery was only slightly short sighted i noticed an immediate difference within a half an hour of surgery.I am no over two weeks after surgery and eyesight is better than 20/20.I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr. Kazakos to any of my friends or family.

I unfortunately had some complications during my treatment which meant interrupting, and restarting the treatment to cut the trapdoor in both eyes. MrKazakov was clam and reassuring throughout which helped to relieve my anxiety. Mr Kalakos had a lovely, kind and personable manner, I’d recommend him without reserve to anyone else having this treatment.

I had Lasik standard treatment with Intralase done on 01/03/09 in Donegal Place clinic in Belfast.I was -8 in my right eye and -7.5 in my left with quite bad astigmatism and having been refused treatment three years ago I was delighted to find that I could now have it done.From consultation through to post treatment check up I found all the staff very friendly and helpful.On the day of my treatment I met Mr Kazakos who was very pleasant indeed and gave me an opportunity to ask any further questions.During the procedure he and his staff were excellent.Professional and very reassuring.They really put me at ease and it was over before I knew it.I felt no pain at all.Just a slight pressure on my eyes.And noticed the difference immediately although it was a little hazy.Next day was astonishing.On my 24hr check up I was told I had slightly better than 20/20 vision.Amazing!Having freedom from contact lenses and glasses will make such a difference to my life and I cannot thank Mr Kazakos and the wonderful staff of Optical Express enough.I would highly recommend this treatment!
