Today, Mr Angunawela sees patients exclusively at the Ophthalmic Consultants of London, which he recently founded along with two other renowned, UK trained eye surgeons: Mr Allon Barsam and Mr Ali Mearza.

What makes this eye clinic special? The Ophthalmic Consultants of London has practices in central London and Hertfordshire, and uses state-of-the-art technology to secure the desired results.

Is there anything I should know? It’s refreshing to see transparent laser eye surgery prices, and it’s rare for private eye clinics to offer interest free laser eye surgery finance options. However, it’s also worth noting the costs at the Ophthalmic Consultants of London are some of the highest in the industry.

4. Mr Romesh Angunawela Review: The Verdict

So, is Mr Angunawela the right eye surgeon for you? Of course, that all depends on whether you live in London, and how deep your pockets are.

Mr Angunawela features as one of the best laser eye surgeons in the UK, given his extensive experience (even in complex procedures) and thumbs up from customers. It’s also rare to find an ophthalmologist with more awards.

However, he is London based, and – as you would expect from his eye-dropping experience in vision correction – his prices are at the upper end, with even the initial consultation costing £250. If that price tag is giving you goose bumps, there are many other safe options in the UK.

My eyes used to be very different, my right eyesight was good but objects in my left eye were fuzzy and distant. As I grew older I wore varifocals for my computing job and distance glasses for driving, this was OK, but not really what I wanted, as my left eye was getting worse I decided to have laser surgery to correct it.

I chose Moorfields because it is the best and Romesh is top-notch. I took his recommendation to correct both eyes, I was under no pressure to do this and I am delighted with the results. I can read unaided, my distance vision is excellent, and I can’t remember the last time I saw so well out of my left eye.

However, it has been quite a journey, I was very unlucky and had an infection in my right eye. Unfortunately, complications can and do happen, they are random and rare. Romesh was reassuring and honest and, I followed his excellent advice. He took extra care to make sure that my infection was dealt with, after numerous check-ups, two operations in my right eve (at no extra cost), and many post-operative drops, the pesky cells in my right eye have finally gone.

Six months after LASIK laser surgery, I have no regrets, everything is looking good, it’s still a joy to see the world with my new eyes. Thanks to Romesh and his excellent team at Moorfields I have lifetime of good eyesight to look forward to and absolutely no hesitation in recommending them

I began with a consultation with Mr Angunawela, which was thorough, reassuring and honest. He explained the procedure in detail, and was anything but pushy, outlining without prejudice the pros and cons of laser eye surgery. Convinced that I wanted to proceed, the booking process was straightforward, and the procedure itself entirely straightforward. Mr Angunawela inspired confidence, as indeed did the support staff around him, and the operation itself was quick, almost entirely painless, and two weeks after the event, entirely successful. I can see perfectly, have had little to no irritation, and simply have to put in my eye-drops frequently (for which clear instructions are given). All in all, I couldn't be happier and though Moorfields is without doubt at the expensive end, you are certain to receive the highest level of care, the latest technology and top quality surgeons. You only have two eyes...

Romesh was brilliant from beginning to end. He explained the process of Wavefront in much more detail than the other clinic I went to initially which was re-assuring. He was very careful, precise and was brilliant at making me feel relaxed about the process . The procedure was extremely quick and without any problems. I am very happy having better than 20/20 vision and no glasses!

After researching/visiting several laser eye surgery clinics to compare procedure and prices, I opted to have mine done by Mr Angunawela at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, in April 2013.From the very first consultation, Mr Angunawela and his team made me feel completely at ease and spent time with me explaining the procedure, what to expect after surgery and the level of aftercare provided. Of course, this kind of surgery can be risky and is a substantial financial commitment, so being made to feel as though I would be in 'safe hands' was a must. This is implicit in the service provided by Mr Angunawela and his team.I honestly couldn't be happier with the results, which quite frankly, have been life changing. I had very bad shortsightedness, so the correction needed was extensive. Having 20/20 vision is simply amazing, and after attending a three-month check up today, I have been discharged.Mr Angunawela has given me the gift of sight again, and for that, I will be eternally grateful.

Having spoken to friends that had undergone lazer surgery I was finally convinced to go for it myself. There are many places that offer surgery and therefore competition makes people fight to offer the best price. But when you consider that its your eyes I felt that I would want to be in the best place even if was a bit more expensive.Having looked at the different surgeons on the Moorfield's web site I decided to go with Romesh. I am so pleased with the results and will recommend Romesh to any potential patients. The whole process from initial consultation to the actual surgery and aftercare was so easy. Romeah advised against LASEK having studied my eyes, carefully explaining all the pros and cons of each procedure. There was no pressure to go ahead with the surgery but I am so glad that I opted to have this done.

Had my eyes lasered in November and the whole experience at the Moorfield eye hospital has been a good one, with a great pre, and after-care service, which I know you don't get from the "high street" laser outfits.....AAA +++ !!

I had an excellent experience and am pleased for having had laser eye surgery. The consultations have been good and I was explained the process very well. I may have underestimated a little the recovery time and particularly that it takes a little whle for the vision to improve/stabilise but it has. Mr. Angunawela has been personable and available any time I have needed clarification or assistance.

I was long sighted at +4.75 and previously wore extended wear contact lenses until I developed an intolerance to them. My optometrist recommended this procedure at Moorfields Eye Hospital and I am very pleased that I did. Mr Amgunawela examined my eyes and identified blocked tear ducts, which may have contributed towards my previous eye problems. He treated this before undertaking the surgery. The procedure was quick and painless and my vision is now better then it was previously wearing contact lenses or glasses. My eyes healed quickly and I am delighted with the results.

I am 67 years old, and had very long sight +7.25, I have always wanted to have laser treatment but was told years ago that I could not, I therefore looked into the alternatives and had recently seen an article in a magazine about Moorfields. I carefully looked at what procedures were possible for me and found that I could have the clear lens extraction. I studied the consultants and finally settled for Romesh, I am so very very happy I did, in my words he is simply the best. He explained everything clearly to me. After the biometry test, it was found that I had very unusual eyes very short with odd curvatures, I was worried but I decided to go ahead. Both eyes were successfully operated on and I can now not only see in the distance to drive etc., but I can read small print. It seems like a miracle to me, as I have worn glasses virtually all my life. Romesh also gives good care after the operation so if you have any concerns he is there for you.

My optician initially mentioned that I may have Keratoconus in one eye but told me not to worry about it. However, upon researching this condition in more detail and feeling my eyes deteriorate further, I searched for someone who knew what they were talking about, and in Mr Angunawela I found the best out there. He diagnosed me with Keratoconus in both eyes and said I need cross-linking to stop this progressing. He was clear, professional and friendly from start to finish and, thus far, the operation has been completely successful. I would recommend him over anyone for this type of operation.

As a printer my eyes are essential to my work, the results are fantastic. I have complete trust in him operating on my eyes.
