1. Review of AccuVision Laser Eye Clinic

Established in 2001, AccuVision is a popular destination for people seeking quality, affordable laser eye surgery. This clinic currently operates in five cities nationwide: London, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol and Newcastle, and has performed over 40,000 treatments and counting.

What did independent inspectors find? According to the CQC’s latest report, there were no complaints between August 2016 and September 2017 from 1,011 refractive eye procedures carried out at AccuVision.

Is there anything else I should know? Most of the eye surgeons on our site enjoy five-star ratings, and the same is true for AccuVision. But it’s worth noting we only have 10 reviews for Dr Prashant Jindal.

Patients always want to find an ophthalmologist they feel comfortable with. That’s why it’s always a good idea to do your own research by trying to meet with your surgeon at an initial consultation, and many clinics offer these for free.

2. AccuVision Treatments

As well as common laser vision correction treatments – such as LASEK and LASIK with ultra-accurate Wavefront diagnostics – AccuVision also offers lens replacement surgery, including the UK’s most common surgical procedure: cataract surgery.

  1. LASIK eye surgery
  2. Trans-Epithelial Surface Treatment
  3. Lens replacement surgery
  4. ICL surgery (implantable contact lenses)
  5. Cataract surgery
  6. Amblyopia (lazy eye treatment)

So is it safe? AccuVision promises highly sophisticated, automated devices, with world-class Wavefront technology and the Alcon WaveLight EX500 Excimer laser. According to the clinic’s own study of 500 patients, everyone achieved at least driving standard vision following surgery (including repeat surgery).

3. AccuVision Laser Eye Clinic Prices

AccuVision’s prices are reasonable rates in laser eye surgery. On average, 800 patients told Lasik Eyes they paid £1,200 (per eye) for laser eye surgery, and £3,615 (per eye) for lens replacement surgery (including cataract surgery) – few clinics have lower starting prices.

AccuVision doesn’t publish a fixed price list, but here are the costs you can expect for the most popular eye surgeries:

  • Consultation Price: Free for initial consultation
  • LASIK Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
  • Trans-Epi Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
  • C3R Treatment Price: Average cost £2,000 per eye

Here’s how these prices compare to the eye surgery quotes offered by other clinics:

TreatmentOptical Express Cost (per eye)Optegra Cost (per eye)Optimax Cost (per eye)Centre for Sight Cost (per eye)
LASIK / LASEKFrom £595£1,795£1,695£2,400
Cataract SurgeryFrom £3,195£2,495£2,995From £3,150
ICL SurgeryFrom £3,395£3,495£2,495£3,615

Eye surgery isn’t an insignificant cost for most people. That’s why AccuVision offers a 10 month finance option, which lets you spread the costs of surgery after the initial deposit into smaller monthly fees. You will need to pass a credit check with Hitachi Capital to gain approval for this payment plan.

That said, most clinics provide finance plans for much longer – up to three years, and also team up with health insurers who may cover at least some of the costs of the surgery (which AccuVision doesn’t).

Location: Parsons Green Surgeon: William Aycliffe I had spent a great deal of time researching lasik and choosing a clinic and I would thoroughly recommend this clinic from my experiences The initial consultation and examination was very extensive and they were more than happy to answer the many questions I had to put my mind at ease. In my case the preoperative assessment revealed that I had very thin corneas in both eyes particularly where the hinges of the flaps would be. They explained that by using pioneering techniques they would be able to modify the flap design to ensure a successful outcome. The actual surgery was very quick, with no pain whatsoever. The results are truly amazing. I now have 20/15 vision and I haven't looked back since!! Six months on I am continuing to enjoy a new lease of life and I would like to express my gratitude in particular to vikash and Darius.

29 Apr 2003

I had treatment on Friday 25th April and have found the comments informative pre-surgery and reassuring in the days that have passed since I took the plunge! My eyes made me a typical Accuvision patient - nothing particularly unusual about my prescription (-2.25 and -2.50 with astigmatism). However, my pupils were classified as 'huge' (not particularly technical but a relevant description at 8mm). I had been to Maxivision previously and fortunately the surgeon was reluctant to treat me as I was likely to have significant night vision problems. He recommended Accuvision as the newer technology was likely to improve the outcome. At my initial consultation, the team at Accuvision reassured me that they could get me an excellent result and whilst they would be unlikely to improve on my night vision (which, according to them was not great but I had not been aware of!), they would certainly not make it worse. So, I went ahead and am cautiously optimistic. I have not had the stunning results that have been posted on this site but realize that I do need to be patient and my vision will continue to improve. The surgery itself was fine (really!). In fact, I found the laser light show fascinating. If you have some relaxation techniques such as breathing deeply (remember labour for those mothers amongst you) then this will help. It is all over very quickly. About 10 minutes after surgery the anesthetic eye drops wore off and then it did hurt. My eyes did sting and watered, however Mike had said it would last four hours and to the minute he was right! I made the most of the excuse to lie still with my eyes shut and left my husband to look after the kids (drastic measures I know to take a rest during the day!). The days following surgery I have had quite a bit if hazziness and my vision is around -0.5. This is not as good as I am used to with glasses and hope to see some improvements over the next week (Daryus said that this slight myopia was due to some corneal oedema and is perfectly normal). My eyes have been gritty and this got worse yesterday, a few days post-surgery. A call to Accuvision and they wanted to see me just to check. The care I have had has been excellent. The following may help if you have just had surgery or considering it: - the eye drops, particularly the artificial tears, make your eye-lids stick together. Don't be alarmed! - be prepared for your vision to develop over time - grittiness may continue for some time (after all eye surgery is signficant and your eyes do need time to recover) Accuvision should be congratulated for their patient focussed approach. I particularly liked the way I was treated as an individual from the moment I stepped in, told what to expect, not kept waiting and offered 24 hour care at the end of a telephone.

I have been looking into Laser Surgery for a couple of years. I finally plucked up courage and went to consultation. The consultation process was extremely thorough and all questions were well answered. A week later I found myself about to enter surgery. The procedure itslef is absolutely nothing to worry about. I felt slight pressure to my eyes and that was all. No pain. All staff kept me informed throughout and the procedure was over before I knew it. I walked into the waiting area able to see my Dad at the other end of the room unaided by specs. Absolutely fantastic. My prescription was -3.50 and -3.75 inclusive of astigmatism. I am now six weeks post op and I have better than 20:20 vision with a slight astigmatism of -0.25 in my left eye. I've been told by Mike that this will get better with healing. I have no reason to disbelieve him or Accuvision as everything they have told me has turned out to be true. I experienced a slower return to excellent vision than other people it would seem. This may have someting to do with the wearing of bandage lenses for 24hrs after but is more likely to be just the rate at which my eyes heal ! Everyone is different. I have gone through moments of concern and uneasiness after the surgery but my concerns were always answered informatively by Accuvision at all times. Your vision does fluctuate and you may have moments of panis where you think "My God why did I do this" but be patient as the results are astounding and to be free of vision aids is amazing. My eyes had a reaction to the artificial tears and so I heeded the advice in some of the comments before these and bought some Liquifilm tears without preservative. My eyes improved straight away. I personally would like to thank all staff who have been excellent throughout but especially Joan, Vikash, Mike, Daryus and Chad. All have been brilliant and the aftercare fantastic. I can't recomment Accuvision enough and am busily passing on their details to a wealth or friends and colleagues. Thanks Accuvision.

I finally went ahead with my surgery on 24th March with Accuvision. (Decided against Centre for Sight for a number of reasons - see comments under their heading) I am tempted to write Ditto, ditto, ditto, ditto because every positive comment I have read about Accuvision on this website is TRUE!!!! However I will be more specific for the benefit of the people I have promised. (by the way, thank you to all of you who contacted me since my first posting with all your encouraging comments) I had -3 in both eyesand large pupils! I had wavefront treatment performed by M Rostron with all the usual team present (and a few spectators if I remember correctly) The procedure was painless and I am glad I didn't work myself into a state beforehand because it wouldn't have been worth it. It's over so quickly, there's no time to panic in there. I'm delighted with the results(better than 20/20 in both eyes) and they have done such a good job of the flaps that 24 hours after surgery an experienced optician could not see the hinge! The first few days were hazy and uncomfortable - very similar feeling to that of having worn your contacts for far too long! Each day got clearer and clearer and after one week my eyesight was fantastic! Night vision has also improved dramatically although that was slower in coming. Nothing left to say apart from thanks to all at Accuvision, especially Nick Dash who spent hours answering all of my questions!! To all of you considering surgery - go to Accuvision - it may be more expensive than some of the 'high street' outfits but YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! You only have one pair of eyes!

I had surgery at Accuvision around three and half weeks ago. My prescription was around -7 in both eyes, with some astigmatism and very thin corneas. I was terribly disappointed to be turned down by Optimax about two years ago, because of this combination of high prescription and thin corneas. When I first saw the advert for Accuvision and how it could treat cases that other places couldn't, I was initially a bit sceptical. It was only by idly surfng the net one day, that I came across this website and saw all the rave reviews that people had given to Accuvision. This convinced me to give them a call. At my consultation, which was very thorough, I was told that they could treat me, but I was only just eligible, because of my thin corneas. However, because of the more advanced laser technology they were able to leave more than the recommended corneal thickness. They informed me that they couldn't guarantee that I would have perfect sight after surgery, but there was a chance that I might have some some mild refraction and need glasses occasionally. I was never put under any pressure whatsoever. I decided to have the surgery (£4K) and went ahead with it two weeks later. The actual surgery was stressful, but painfree. They explain exactly what to expect during the procedure, which definately helped. For the first 5-6 hours after surgery, my eyes were watering so much that I couldn't open them at all. They were also prickling like crazy. The next day, my eyes were rather red and swollen, but my vision was perfect. I seemed to experience more post-operative discomfort than most people, because for the first 5 days after surgery my eyes were very dry, itchy and uncomfortable and the liquid tears didn't help alleviate it at all. I found that previously, I couldn't wear contact lenses for more than a few hours at a time, because my eyes started feeling really dry, so this probably made me more susceptical to it. However, just as I was beginning to despair and wonder if I'd done the right thing, my eyes suddenly started feeling a lot better. They now feel totally normal and when I had my check up after the first week, I was told that my eyes had healed well, I wouldn't need glasses at all and I had 20:20 vision. They also gave me some gel tears which were more effective for me than the liquid tears. I feel that I definately made the right decision to have laser surgery at Accuvision. My vision is fab. my eyes feel totally normal now and it has given me a whole new lease of life. I still find myself reaching for my glasses out of habit or feeling that I need to take my lenses out before going to sleep. I've also found that it's great to be able to go away and not have to pack alll the parathenalia associated with wearing glassses and contact lenses. I'm very grateful to Accuvision. No regrets at all.

Whilst researching Lasik, I came across this website and it was largely due to the positive comments about Accuvision that I decided to have my -6 and -4 eyes corrected by Wavefront Guided Lasik last Thursday. It's all true - these guys are undoubtedly the best!! I had a look at Boots at Bluewater as well but although their technology looks impressive, I felt the consultation was very 'production line', and my questions were really rushed through. The procedure is unpleasant and stressful, I was surprised to find the eye clamps going in was actually the worst bit. The suction and cutting of the flap did not hurt at all. Afterwards I went home and laid in a darkened room with my eyes closed for the rest of the day (a practical tip - I bought one of those talking books which really helped to pass the time). On my next day check up my right eye was 20/15!! Every day now I'm finding my eyes are getting clearer and less sore, everything is in much sharper focus than I ever got with glasses or contacts. Accuvision may be expensive but it is definitely worth every penny. Everyone is highly professional. If I had to make one tiny suggestion (and I'm struggling to find one) it would be a thoughtful touch if, after the procedure, in the bag you are given containing your drops and eyeshields, that a small box of medical tissues was included? I asked for a few tissues when leaving and was given a whole box of medical tissues, they have been invaluable since for moping up streaming eyes, excess drops, and now cleaning eyes? I am much happier to use these than I would be using regular tissues. I will be wholeheartedly recommending Accuvision in the future.

My son, recently turned 19, had always been severely short-sighted with astigmatism, and even as a toddler often had to wear thick glasses with patches over one eye in an attempt to strengthen his weaker eye. The only way he could read was with things directly in front of his face, and it was too much of a strain to read books. He has suffered many knock backs with his eyes over the years, the latest being having to give up driving lessons after failing the sight test. I was advised that Scott`s sight might never be good enough to drive. He had been waiting for months to see the eye specialist at the local hospital without success, when my brother rang and told me about an advertisement he had seen for `Accuvision`, who could treat patients that others could not, and I contacted them immediately. Before travelling 800 miles from Shetland to London I was worried with all the set backs that Scott had experienced that this might be just another waste of time, so tried to get as much information as possible from the internet, and decided to speak to `Moorfields` eye hospital. They informed me that with my sons` prescription the very best result that we could expect would be –5. I felt disillusioned on hearing this, but spoke to `Accuvison` once more who assured me that if Scott were suitable for treatment, they would expect a far better result than -5. The consultation went very well, and Scott had the surgery the following day, 3 July 2003. I don`t think words can describe the elation I felt when the surgeon gave the thumbs up sign and described how well the surgery had gone. Scott’s` right eye is now –0.50 and left eye is –1. He thinks that it is wonderful to wake up and see things, and to be able to read normally. Although for driving he will wear glasses of a very small prescription, that`s a small price to pay. After watching him struggle for so many years it really does seem miraculous. I would like to conclude that Scott & I found Accuvision to be a great team of helpful friendly competent people who are quite justified in exuding such confidence in their ability, when they are able to produce such amazing results. True experts in their field. We really cannot thank them enough. I am already saving up for my daughter who is also shortsighted and would like to have surgery at Accuvision.

Just a quick update. I had my eyes done early December 02. After going back for my 6 month check last week, i cannot stress enough how good the staff are. They still remembered me and the problems i experienced and were concerned for me still. (I would like to just clarify that the problem was servere bruising to my eyes, but that it is completley gone & there are no negative effects from this). You only have one pair of eyes - trust them to Accuvision...

03 Aug 2003

I had my surgery on 3rd of July which was excellent adn definitely not worth worrying about for as long as I did. I was -3.75 in both eyes, which became 20/20 in my right eye and just under in my left after only 7 days. Everything about your eyes continuing to heal is true, as mine feel better (albeit slightly - don't expect massive change on a daily basis) every day. The best thing is the fact that the op really is painless. The only thing I felt would be best described as mild discomfort when the clamps were put on my eyes. The actual surgical stuff (cutting, laser etc) was absolutely painless. having a filling is 100 times as painful..easily. I recommend Accuvision to everyone because they are excellent. Everyone from Vik who did my initial consultation to Darius (who is excellent at making you feel relaxed, especially when you are lying on the laser bed worrying to yourself). Thanks also to Mike who reassured me brilliantly on the phone as well as immediately post op, and to Joan for further excellent post op care and 1 week check up. I am about to book my next check up (1 month) so I post again with any relevant changes. Basically Accuvision are as good as you are going to get. Read about every clinic on this website, then see the cases that Accuvision treat that others don't. Yes, I would do it again, and yes Accuvision were brilliant for me.

I decided to get my eyes done about a year ago and looked into various eye clinics and after doing a bit of research was a bit dismayed that most eye clinics only treat hyperopia (long sight) up to around +3 dioptres. I have or did have a high prescription, my right eye was +6.00 with astigmatism of +1.75, and the left eye was +6.50 with astigmatism of +1.75. However I saw the advert in the paper for accuvision and how they can treat patients with high prescriptions with wavefront guided lasik. I phoned up for a booklet and let it at that. Fast forward to the beginning of June and having two weeks off I decided to see if I was compatible in having the surgery. I phoned up for a consultation and went down the following week on the 11th of June. The consultation was roughly an hour long with Vikash, it was found that I did indeed had a high level of long sight, the thickness of the cornea and the dilation of the pupil was measured, as well as the overall health of the eye. The consultation was very professional and what struck me, was while Vikash pointed out that Accuvision could treat my eyes because they had the technology, what was also pointed out was the fact that this is surgery and things (although extremely rarely) can go wrong. The cornea could get infected amongst other things, and because of my prescription there was only a 10% chance of achieving 20/20 vision. On hearing this my thoughts were how professional Accuvision were in telling you the risks that can happen as well as the benefits and were not just after your money. I concluded in my mind that indeed I had chosen the right clinic. I was compatible to my delight, the cost would be £3600 and I was left to think it over. I had thought about the surgery all weekend and decided that I would get it done. I phoned up on Monday the 16th June and it turned out that there was a slot available that afternoon. I got down to the clinic signed the confirmation form and had the surgery done with MR Chad Rostron. I was a bit nervous at first, but during the operation I started to relax it didn’t hurt and the only real discomfort was at the start when I had the eye drops put in. Yes it is true! parts of your cornea being vaporised does smell a bit but it is not as bad as made out, I think! Coming out of the operation I was groggy and sat down for roughly ½ hour at the end of which my first lot of eye drops were administered, and Vikash explained that they were to be taken every hour for at least 6 hours and the eyes were to be kept closed for as much time as possible. I woke up the next morning and I could see everything, a friend of mine had sent me a text asking how it had gone and I was more than pleased to be able to see the letters on my phone to text them back, as well as reading the paper without the need of glasses. That afternoon I went back to Accuvision for my 1 day post op check-up and I was 20/20 overall being 20/20 in my right eye and 20/30 in my left, with both eyes healing nicely. I was more than pleased. Vikash took the contact lenses out that you wear for the first night that help the healing process and said that my eyes may fluctuate and gave me some more drops to put over the coming days leading to my 1 week post op check-up. I wake up the next morning and am dismayed that my eyes had fluctuated quite badly, I take a walk into town to go to the bank to get the bankers draft to pay Accuvision and wonder if it is worth paying them!! I can read a number plate of a car from only 8 paces. However I have to remind myself that it was said that my eyes might fluctuate and I did have a high prescription (I did send the cheque to them though!). Accuvision were right in the days leading up to my 1 week post op check my eyes had strengthen I could now read a number plate from 57 paces. I get down to the clinic in the afternoon and my eyes are still 20/20 with my right eye being 20/20 and my left being 20/40. I make an appointment for my 1 month post op check. I go down to Accuvision for my 1 month post op check with Vikash my sight overall is still 20/20 my right eye being 20/15! And my left eye being 20/30 -2 (reading some of the letters on the 20/30 line bar two of them) with a slight astigmatism. The eyes have healed nicely. I and Vikash discuss it and we come to the conclusion that I am very happy my sight overall being 20/20 and although the left eye is not as strong as the right is not viable to perform surgery on the left eye with the left eye as it is. I make an appointment for my 3 month post op check and it on the 31st of October. I am now at 10 weeks post op writing this. I have had no complications and am glad that I had the surgery done. To those with a high prescription and/or are afraid of having surgery go and have a consultation you never know. I thought I would be wearing glasses for the rest of my life now thankfully I don’t, and I have Accuvision to thank for that. If any of you who are reading this and have a high prescription like mine or you are a bit nervous and have any questions feel free to e-mail me at leetaylor55@hotmail.com. All the best, Lee.
