1. Qualifications
After graduating from the Royal College of Surgeons in 1984 Mr Daya completed an internship at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, Northern Ireland.
He then completed his training in the United States completing residencies at NY Downtown Hospital (1985 to 1988) and the Catholic Medical Centre at Cornell University (1988 to 1991). He went on to become the Director of Cornea and External Disease at the Catholic Medical Centre.
Today, Mr Daya serves on numerous committees, including:

- Cornea committees of both European and American Societies of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS, ASCRS)
- International Council for UK on the International Society of Refractive Surgery (ISRS)

2. Expertise

The Centre For Sight was set up because Mr Daya was disgruntled with how many private eye care centres were run. He as on a mission to provide patients with world class medical care.
He built the Centre for Sight as a “Centre of Excellence” in refractive surgery, providing the utmost in preoperative and postoperative care and first class levels of training for other surgeons and nurses throughout the country.

I was so upset last year when I couldn\’t get it done by another company. My eyesight was getting worse and my optician said that I had the beginnigs of cateracts in both eyes. Also I had worn varifocal glasses since I was 45, I am now 71. Mr Sheraz Daya and the Centre for Sight had been recommended to me by several friends including an optician golfing mate. So I took the plunge and went to Centre for Sight at East Grinstead for the very thourough assessment and I was told that I was suitable for multifocal iol’s. I had the procedures at Oxshott with the follow up checks in East Grinstead. The whole process was very straightforward and the most painful part was the small prick when the canula was inserted into my arm. Next day I was able to do away with my glasses and can read the small print. If anybody is procrastinating about going ahead with lens replacement at Centre for Sight I have no hesitation in recommending mr Sheraz Daya and his wonderful team.

I was desperate to have the treatment done so was very relieved/excited when Mr Daya told me I was suitable for Intralase. My treatment was booked in for the following week but then I started getting very nervous about the procedure itself. Fortunately, the staff at the East Grinstead were great and allowed me to ask all of my questions before I signed my consent form (and paid for the treatment). Thanks to all for making me feel at ease (and Mr Daya for his supreme professionalism). I felt like everything was totally under control at all times. I’ve followed all of the post-op instructions to the letter and so far have had absolutely no problems whatsoever. Just 24 hours on I could read the time on my alarm clock for the fist time in 20 years! I was really pleased to have a follow up appointment the next day for reassurance that everything was ok – and it seems that I have better than 20/20 vision!(although my left eye is still catching up with my right) Thanks again and I would highly recommend Centre For Sight and Mr Daya to anyone considering laser eye treatment.

Further to an initial assessment, Mr Daya performed Wavefront IntraLASIK on both eyes approximately 8 months ago. I had worn glasses for short-sightedness since the age of 11 (twenty-five years) and was -6.00 in one eye and -5.50 in the other. I have just been back to the Centre for Sight for another follow up and now have 20/15 vision – even better than normal 20/20. It’s hard to explain how wonderful it is to be able to see; it really is a daily pleasure, and I now experience much less glare from the sun and during night driving than I did before the operation. I had researched and thought about laser treatment for years. I had an assessment at a high street chain a couple of years ago and was completely put off by their lack of explanation, care and professionalism, as well as the fact that the surgery seemed to be treated by staff as no more serious, and requiring no more consideration, and being of no more consequence, than a minor cosmetic procedure. The Centre for Sight is completely different – a proper medical environment in which you can meet and be assessed by the surgeon who will be operating on you, which is the best clinical practice. If you go for an assessment with Mr Daya you will no doubt recognise him instantly; he is ‘The Consultant’ – the besuited man standing in the middle of the corridor around whom all others move, and probably even the fabric of the building on particularly busy days. He is supremely confident, experienced and respected, and uses cutting edge (excuse the pun) technology. And, let’s face it, this is the sort of medical professional you want to operate on your eyes. The operation is not exactly pleasant, but only takes about twenty minutes or so overall. I would definitely go through it again for these results. Although results are relatively instant, I would advise anyone to expect their eyes to take time to fully recover, for vision to stabilise and to actually adjust to being able to see. Basically, I could not be happier with the results or recommend the Centre for Sight more highly. One of my children is already quite short-sighted and, if and when the times comes, I would trust the Centre for Sight to treat her too.

My vision after the Graft procedure at Centre for Sight is fantastic – even after the day of surgery, it was perfect. I was pleasantly surprised how it has changed as I have come along since the day of my initial graft.
I found Centre for Sight very good. I can’t see any fault at all and I have recommended it to other Keratoconus patients back at home in Dublin. I was referred to Centre for Sight by a surgeon in Dublin. There was no looking back after that!!!
The Corneal Grafting (Femtosecond Laser Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty) procedures have affected my life tremendously well and if it was not for Mr. Sheraz Daya and the staff, I would be in a complete mess. I feel I would have lost my eye sight for good.
He has transformed my sight completely. I suffered from Keratoconus and if I had not had the graft done on both eyes, I would have not been able to see at all.
