Mr Bruce Allan replaced the lenses in my eyes in August 2014 and it has changed my life.
I have worn spectacles since the age of four and a half years of age. Now in my sixties. My sight changed from contracting measles at the age of four and never ever believed it would be possible for me to be either spectacle or contact lens free ever!

It took me a year to make the decision to go ahead with this procedure as I was extremely nervous about the whole thing. I only wish I had this done years ago, it’s amazing, I don’t even need reading glasses now and can read even the smallest of print. I would not have gone anywhere but Moorfields.
My brother who also has very bad eye sight is as amazed as I am and is planning to have the procedure too. I cannot recommend Bruce Allan highly enough. He is a lovely, patient, personable professional who explains everything clearly. He understood how anxious I was about the procedure and completely reassured me. The procedure was amazingly straightforward and does not hurt!!!!
No more spectacles to carry around, contact lenses or even readers, it’s just wonderful.

Great service and professionalism from Mr Allan and his team. I would throughly recommend. My only regret is that I didn’t do this years ago.

13 Jan 2014

Having been told I would never see clearly again with glasses or contact lenses (due to severe stigmatism in both eyes and a worsening prescription) I sought out a reliable practice and surgeon to provide some advice and guidance on options for laser surgery.

I knew that Moorfields had a great reputation for excellence and, using this site to compare surgeon reviews, I chose to visit Mr Allan. I was not disappointed.

The clinic is very well managed and communications at all stages of my consultation were clear and concise. Mr Allan is a charming individual who almost immediately put me at rest and provided a clear and helpful explanation of the diagnosis and options. I was suitable for laser surgery which was great news. However Mr Allan warned me that due to my prescription it was likely I would need two operations on each eye.

During the surgery Mr Allan kept me well informed and whilst not entirely relaxing, the first surgery was successful in that I could immediately see more clearly than before. After a three month checkup, further surgery was deemed necessary (as originally suggested) and this was performed shortly afterwards. The second round was far less intrusive and I had fully recovered in a couple of days.

Having now completed my second check up I have been discharged from care with 20/20 vision! I cannot recommend the Moorfield’s team enough and would encourage anyone to visit Mr Allan for guidance and treatment if required.

Mr Allan and his team are excellent from start to finish. I have no hesitation in recommending their services. I was recommended by two friends who had also had eye surgery by Mr Allan, and I am very happy with the experience, and most importantly my new eye-sight.

This is the second operation that Mr Allan has performed on my left eye. He is a top surgeon that provides great skill and care to his patients. I have complete trust in his ability, and I have referred several people in the past, and everyone has been very impressed by the whole process and skill of Mr Allen and his colleagues.I recommend his services 100%

I cannot speak enough highly of Mr Allan and his team at Moorfields. My procedure went very smoothly and I was discharged last week - my fifth visit in total - with 20-20 vision! I didn't know what to expect going in to my first appointment but had been recommended to Mr Allan by a friend and felt very comfortable with every stage of the process. The team are incredibly thorough and from my point of view it was all very straight forward. I felt very well informed throughout. I loved knowing that Moorfields have their choice of the best lasers and are at the cutting edge of the latest research. I was also very interested to hear - after the Moorfields opticians had had a very detailed look at my eyes with numerous super-tech machines - that the prescription in my current glasses and contact lenses wasn't entirely accurate.Having been very short sighted with a stigmatism laser surgery has changed my life hugely - I see better today than I have ever done. My night driving vision is particularly improved - I don't seem to get the glare I used to with glasses/contacts. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Mr Allan and his team to anyone thinking of laser eye surgery.

I was thoroughly impressed by the whole process the team at Moorfields in particular Mr Allan who explained the procedures and carried out the surgery with great care and attention, he was always available to answer any questions. The cleanliness of the hospital also impressed me aswell as the friendliness of the staff. I would thoroughly recommend Mr Alan to others and have done to members of my own family.

I’ve been considering having corrective surgery on my eyes for a few years now, so when finances became available, I bit the bullet and started doing some serious research online. In terms of the procedure, Lasik was the obvious choice, and I would not certainly not consider anything different. The short recovery times, lack of pain and lower risk factors seemed clear – and all were born out in practice.

Next choice was which company or clinic to choose. Geographic location obviously plays a part, and so does price. However I settled on Moorfields. The key decider for me was a comment by my optician when I mentioned that I was considering it: “Moorfields is the best – it’s where those who do have problems with corrective eye surgery go to have the issues fixed”. Online reviews backed this up with consistently higher review ratings. They did charge more than most, but that was a price I was willing to pay.

I settled with Mr Bruce Allan, and have to say he was superb. The advice, openness to discussion and calm approach were excellent. He also explained and talked through the options I had around splitting the amount of correction applied to the two eyes, to stave off the need for reading glasses. I did choose this option, and while it was disconcerting initially to have one eye perfectly focused with the other remaining short sighted, the results now, 3 months on, are excellent. My brain compensates without me noticing, and switches seamlessly between reading and distance viewing.

So in all, a thoroughly professional, friendly service which has given me exactly the sight I was after – perfect. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Moorfields and Mr Allan.
