I had been considering eye surgery for a number of years, and had a number of friends and colleagues who had great outcomes from LASIK.
I went for a consultation at first with Optimax in Peterborough who were very good and very informative, but their consultant explained that I should have LASEK because I had thin corneas.

I was initially interested in visiting Moorfields purely for a second opinion. The outcome and recommendation was the same, that LASEK would be a better option for my eyes for the long term, but during the consultation Mr Maurino explained that the procedure they operate is no-touch (including no alcohol) and involved a procedure which sounded lower risk.

In the interest of balance, I have no concerns over the quality of the procedure operated by Optimax, but I found Mr Maurino to be very reassuring and worth the additional cost for a procedure where, particularly as it’s elective, I wanted to avoid any unnecessary risk.

Mr Maurino and his team were very helpful with regards to the procedure, they eye care (drops) after surgery, and answered all of the questions I had.

Today I have just returned from my 3-month follow up. My eyesight is excellent (given that I am not restricted by glasses, it is significantly better than it has been with specs for years). I could comfortably read the 6/4 line on the eye chart – the smallest lettering.

I recommend Mr Maurino and his team.
Many thanks

Just about the best decision I ever took. Dr Maurino made it all very easy and I felt safe at every stage. All stages of the surgery from initial consultation to final check up are run most professionally.
I would not hesitate to recommend Dr Maurino and have in fact already done so.

Mr Maurino and his team are consummate professionals. Lots of information provided before I had even commiteed to the idea of having surgery. I had the Visian ICL procedure and two weeks later have perfect vision. My vision was slightly blurry for a few days after the op, but I was perfectly able to continue operating as normal within a day after the surgery being completed. Very happy with the results.

I had my Lasik procedure with Mr Maurino more than a month ago. He was very professional and clear throughout the whole procedure and I am really happy with the final results.

During my first consultation, I was told that I was suitable for Lasik and that the procedure, in my case, should have been pretty straightforward. And so it was. I was shortsighted of about -5 in both eyes.
The operation was only slightly uncomfortable but with no pain at all. Immediately after the surgery, my vision was blurred but I could already read text that I was not able to.
The first day was only a bit uncomfortable (itching and watering), but seeing my sight constantly improving was really exciting. 24 hours later my sight was already 20/20. The first month went through without problems, I followed the aftercare and used all the drops I needed. After the first day and for the first week I only had some occasional discomfort, which was more like the sensation of a eyelash in the eye.
Of course this is just my experience and I believe it might be slightly different from case to case.

The whole operation was more like experiencing how fast, painless and effective this kind of technology is.
Highly recommended.

I have worn contact lenses for years but they had become increasingly uncomfortable to wear. I have considered Laser Eye surgery in the past but didn’t have the courage to proceed. I wish I had, the difference the surgery has made is amazing. I now have perfect vision and Mr Maurino has corrected my vision so I can see perfectly both for long and short term vision (being at that age where reading was requiring glasses if I had my lenses in!!). Driving is easier, and on a recent holiday, it was great to be able to go snorkelling and see everything.

The procedure itself was very straightforward and Mr Maurino was reassuring throughout the surgery. All the staff involved were helpful and the aftercare was also excellent. From the consultation through to the aftercare, Mr Maurino and his team provided a professional service.

As perfect a service as I could ever have hoped for. My initial consultation with Dr Maurino was encouraging and informative. I felt I was in very safe hands and elected to proceed with the surgery right away, and the operation at Moorfields was arranged very quickly.

The operation itself was very well organised and went beautifully, and each of my follow-up appointments with Dr Maurino were great. I always felt well taken care of by him and all of his staff at both Moorfields and his Marylebone clinic.

Best decision I ever made – highly recommended.

After been turned down surgery with a high street optician who offer the same treatment it was suggested I contact Moorfields private patient department ,so I looked into this on the net and obtained a number which I rang and arranged a consultation. At the time my prescription was +9 in both eyes and was wearing contact lenses but also was wearing reading glasses on top of them as well. the staff were extremely friendly and professional and Mr Maurino was and his team in my mind are nothing short of miracle workers as due to the extremities of my case as with all surgery there were risks. the surgery was completely painless and only took about 20 minutes for each eye with a gap of 2 weeks between each eye in my case and the results were nothing short of fantastic , I now don’t wear any glasses for driving and every day use and only have to wear a small prescription for reading if required. As you can imagine for someone who has depended on glasses or contact lenses all my life since I can remember for me this is life changing I will be forever grateful to him and his team and would recommend Mr Maurino and his team to anyone who is even considering surgery ,as for cost please don’t be put off by my example as this is about the going rate for my prescription and the complexities of my case so every case is different and at the end of the day how can you put a price on your eye sight, for me the gain completely out weighed cost and risks.

I had laser eye surgery three months ago, with fantastic results. The care and attention to detail by My Maurino and his team at Moorfields was excellent. After the initial consultation there was no pressure to go ahead with the surgery and the aftercare was excellent. Mr Maurino was available to discuss any queries pre and post-op and clearly answered all of my questions. I would definitely recommend Mr Maurino to anyone considering laser eye surgery (and I already have).

Excellent care and surgeon 5/5.

This procedure has changed my life. Mr Maurino provided excellent care and information. I had a slight infection a few months after the surgery; I was seen straight away and reassured everything was fine.

I would recommend the surgery to anyone who is considering it.
