An experienced Ophthalmic Surgeon, Mr. Bader has performed many procedures including LASIK and LASEK, with specialist interests in cataract and refractive surgery as well as medical retina and laser therapy. He is registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and the Ireland Medical Council (IMC), and is a fully trained Ophthalmologist who has undergone additional specialist training in refractive surgery.
He is an Ophthalmic Surgeon with Optical Express performing laser eye surgery and is an active member of various affiliated bodies and societies such as the ESCRS and UKISCRS. Twice every year, Mr. Bader attends International Medical Advisory Board (IMAB) Conferences and is annually assessed by this board. The panel consists of several of the world’s most eminent Refractive Surgeons including Mr. Steven Schallhorn, former Head of Ophthalmology for the US Navy, Dr. Jan Venter, a world leading Ophthalmic Surgeon, and Mr. Jeffery Machat, co-founder of TLC Vision, one of the largest laser vision correction providers in the world.
Mr. Bader’s career began when he graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree and went on to specialise in ophthalmology. He moved to Belfast where he accepted the post of Clinical Attachment in the Eye Department of the Royal Victoria Hospital. Following the completion of further training at Dublin University in 1994 and his surgical training at Edinburgh University, Mr. Bader accepted the position of Ophthalmic SHO at the Altnagelvin Area Hospital in Londonderry. Mr. Bader has progressed through various appointments from Ophthalmic Registrar to Ophthalmic Surgeon. He has extensive experience within the UK and Ireland ophthalmic communities having worked in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital in Dublin, Limerick Eye Hospital and Royal Victoria Infirmary Hospital in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
He has gained vast clinical experience and a keen understanding of each patient’s requirements and expectations. Mr. Bader has undertaken extensive additional training in the field of ophthalmology and refractive surgery such as, an advanced LASIK course at Moorfields Eye Hospital and courses in LASIK and EPILASIK treatments. Mr. Bader continues to attend conferences and seminars across the world about laser eye surgery and cataract surgery, allowing him to stay abreast of all developments in the advancing field of ophthalmology.
He is actively involved in undertaking research projects relating to laser refractive surgery and is a regular lecturer on the UK, Irish and European teaching circuit. His dedication to his profession and patients is evident from his clinical experience and continued attendance at seminars and conferences as both speaker and delegate.
