Only wish I'd done this sooner! It is a truly life changing operation - my vision is clear and sharp. Mr Danjoux and Karin Anderson led me through the process at Sunderland Eye Infirmary and it was all very easy and painless. Huge ...Read more

Treatment and after care was excellent. Vision for sport, driving and general purpose is excellent and specs free. Reading glasses go with my age, and almost 1 year on my eyes get dry and tired occasionally. Pleased I did it.

As a private patient I was kept waiting well over an hour before each procedure. The staff were okay but I did feel like a slab of meat
on a conveyor belt – certainly no friendly reassurance or being made to feel at ease. I specifically wanted to be able to read easily and wanted my short sightedness corrected. I ended up with great long distance and not being able to read at all without spectacles. I do feel that the benefits/disadvantages were not explained sufficiently as pertaining to my individual case and my requirements.Problems relating to age and macular degeneration were not mentioned until after the operation. Mr Danjoux also stated in the initial consultation that additional laser treatment would be available post-op if required to fine tune the vision. This later vanished as an option and he denied saying it. I feel that I was sold this surgery and that if he had been honest my surgeon should have told me that it would not meet my expectations and would be of minimal benefit. The worst decision of my life – wish I had saved the cash. Would not recommend at all

I had reading implants inserted into one eye in October 2003 by Mr Danjoux, Unfortunately they did not work from the onset. Despite being told my eyesight would improve over the following weeks and months this did not happen - in fact one of the four implanted actually started to come out of my eye and subsequently had to be removed. Overall I am very disappointed with the results as I was told there was a very good chance of success, bearing in mind that my reading vision only required mild reading glasses. I have subsequently had CK treatment at the Horizon Eye Centre with, so far, excellent results.

Had laser treatment to correct my -7 shortsightedness almost 3 years ago. After the procedure my right eye is now quite good, but I suffer really bad halos around lights at night. My left eye is now a little longsighted. But the worst of all (by far)is that I had minor floaters prior to the procedure which since are now much much worse. I would recommend anyone to think long and hard about these side effects. I wish I hadn't had my eyes lasered now and stuck with my contact lenses.

What’s particularly good about Site-for-Eyes is that you feel they’re not out there for a quick profit, they’re there to advise you what is considered to be the most applicable correction for your particular needs. It’s just that years back I sought a consultation with Mr. Danjoux and back then techniques wasn’t so hot, Mr. Danjoux found I had large pupils (I think that was the case) so he pointed out all the risks in performing the procedure then, the underlying message though (he couldn’t specifically tell me, just offered lots of advice) was hang on and don’t get it done just yet. Ten years later and another consultancy and he informed me that techniques had advanced to now fully cover my weird eyes, anyway cutting to the chase the procedure went brilliantly without a hitch, I now have better than 20/20 vision in the one eye I had corrected. Supporting my claim again I was advised to have only one eye corrected as monovision is the new thing for people my age and although a loss in cashbox takings for SFE it is the most appropriate treatment for me. I can confidently say I’m fully confident of the full team – surgeon to office – they have an extensive range of techniques available, they’re honest, skilful and just really excellent. Many thanks.

Excellent result. Everything went perfectly to plan. I was totally reliant on my glasses and now have been signed off with 20:20 vision.

I am writing this review 6 days after my treatment and all I can say is wow. I had my one week check today and have 20:20 vision in both eyes. I have had no complications so far and no infections and have recovered very quickly and almost pain free.

The surgery was far less scary than I thought and was over in 20 minutes. My surgeon was calm and clearly explained what he was doing. There were no bells of whistles he just got down to his job is a confident and professional manner.

The only downside was that there was a delay and I waited 2.5 hours to be seen after my original appointment time. No one came to apologise or explain the delay. This long wait caused me a great deal of added anxiety sitting waiting and sadly I ended up having my surgery at almost 7.30pm at night when I was tired and worrying about the babysitting of my baby who was with grandparents. Other than the delay however, i am very satisfied and would recommend site for eyes 100% – let’s hope I continue to recover well and get the all clear at my 1,3 & 6 month checks.

Thank you to all at site for eyes.

I am over the moon with my new eyes, I have worn specs from being a child, My normal specs were very expensive due to my prescription. Now i don't need specs or contacts to read or drive. Mr Danjoux and his team are very efficient and pleasant. This is a no nonsense team, no sales pitch, and no false promises, What you see is what you get,and in my case a lot better than expected so far Keep up the good work. Thank-you very much

Surgeon Mr Danjoux was recommended to me via a relative who is a consultant surgeon working in Scotland and checked with her local/trusted eye specialist colleagues by asking who they would go to if they were to have laser surgery on their own eyes. My prescriptions were -6 and -6.5 with a slight astigmatism. I am late forties and have worn gas permeable lenses for 30 years Site-for-eyes, while a small unit, is located within Sunderland Eye Hospital (a slightly "old school" hospital rather than a modern high tech environment), and there is a significant degree of comfort in knowing that everything they do there is related to fixing eyes, and that there seemed to be a great depth of domain expertise in eyes all around. The surgeons within the Site for Eyes teams had particularly strong CVs. Plus points of Site-for Eyes - very good initial explanation of risks associated with surgery, answering fully questions on why lasik, how further treatment would still be possible if needed at any point in the future and so forth - surgeon did not over-promise but delivered what he indicated would be the result - functional eyesight which allows me to drive and play golf without glasses/contact lenses. - The same consultant who did the initial consultation performed the surgery and after surgery checks - The optometrist's pre and after support was always professional and friendly - in general all appointments were on time Possible improvements: - immediately before the laser treatment itself a walk through of what the actual (brief) operational experience would be like would have had value, at least for me - e.g. that quite strong pressure would be felt applied to each eye to allow the surgeon to create the flap (briefly uncomfortable but I assume normal), that a slight odour might be possible to smell during the laser treatment itself, and that the red dot to watch would become thousands as soon as the laser started. While all understandable when thought about afterwards, they were all slight surprises at the time. Overall I had no problems with my eyes post-operation, and absolutely no discomfort or gritty feeling in them. I felt confident enough in my sight to drive a few days after surgery although it did take quite a few weeks for my focus in each eye to fine-adjust to their end result. I was also provided with special "synthetic tears" for use on a long haul flight I had to take within 5 days of surgery - again no problems. I can use computers without glasses and although I am at the point where I may need glasses to read a book or newspaper comfortably, that is most likely age related. Very grateful to the team at Site-for-eyes for now not having to deal with contact lenses (or glasses) anymore. and in my turn would highly recommend them to others considering sight correction surgery.
