Before surgery my vision was -8 and therefore I couldn’t read a book, or see facial expressions etc without using my glasses. I would definitely recommend Centre for Sight. I’d dwelt on surgery for 10 years since my initial ...Read more

1. Review of Centre for Sight Clinic

Centre for Sight is a long-standing and renowned eye surgery clinic, with three practices in London, Surrey and West Sussex. Its leading consultant eye surgeon, Mr Sheraz Daya, founded the clinic way back in 1996 with a clear mission: provide exemplary eye care to patients in facilities that are purpose-built with their needs in mind.

What makes Centre for Sight different? Centre for Sight is based on Mr Daya’s vision that better surroundings can provide a higher standard of care. Today patients get to enjoy a spa-like or luxury hotel experience, rather than the dread of most hospital surgeries.

Is there anything else I should know? As you’d expect then, this clinic also comes with the price tag that accompanies a five-star experience. Yes, the facilities are kitted out with high-end diagnostic tech and quality lenses, backed up by a team of highly trained staff. But you leave all the fancy atmosphere behind the moment you step outside the clinic, and it won’t be a priority for everyone.

2. Centre for Sight Treatments

Centre for Sight has expertise in all the major eye treatments, from LASIK to lens replacement surgery, and implantable contact lenses. Here are some of the most popular surgeries:

  1. LASIK / IntraLASIK laser eye surgery
  2. Laser and non-laser lens replacement
  3. Implantable contact lenses (ICL surgery)
  4. Laser cataract surgery
  5. Corneal grafts
  6. Keratoconus

To find out which procedure would work best for your unique eye prescription, always talk to a qualified ophthalmologist. As with all leading clinics, Centre for Sight provides initial consultations where you can talk to a specialised eye consultant, and understand the risks and options available to you.

3. Centre for Sight Prices

On average, 723 patients told Lasik Eyes they paid between £2,400 and £3,615 per eye for laser eye and lens replacement surgery at Centre for Sight since 2002. These costs are slightly above the average price range of £1,789 and £3,152 – high street clinics such as Optical Express and Ultralase were the cheapest places we found.

Here are the fixed costs of eye surgery at Centre for Sight:

  • Laser eye surgery cost: £2,300 per eye (from £77 per month)
  • IntraLASIK Supracor cost: £2,575 per eye (from £86 per month)
  • Implantable contact lens cost: £2,975 per eye (from £85 per month)
  • Implantable contact lens cost (toric lenses): £3,450 per eye (from £93 per month)
  • Cataract surgery cost (monofocal): £2,975 – £3,575 per eye (from £94 per month)
  • Cataract surgery cost (multifocal): £2,975 – £3,575 per eye (from £94 per month)

Your costs will include: a free consultation (for laser surgery), the full cost of the procedure, a 24-hour service line, and aftercare for one year after treatment. Laser eye surgery consultations are free, but lens replacement surgery assessments cost £295.

Centre for Sight also provides interest free pay monthly finance options over a generous 24 months – with some clinics, you’ll be paying 11% APR after the first year. As with most clinics, there’s a deposit of £500 to secure the surgery, but this cost comes off the total cost.

I chose Centre For Sight because my optician recommended it as somewhere that patients are sometimes referred to if surgery has gone wrong at another location, and I personally felt much more comfortable with a surgeon who was attached to a leading hospital.

I am posting this message because I was so impressed by Mr. Daya’s professionalism and his stringent ethics.

I was turned down for LASIK surgery because of the combination of my pupil size (over 7mm) and corneal thickness (450 micrometers). I had done extensive research myself before going to my consultation, and as soon as the readings came up, I knew I was probably not a candidate for surgery.

It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to know that if a surgeon says that you are perfectly safe to have LASIK that you can trust them. I thought it would be useful to anyone considering surgery, even if they do not wish to pay the extra money for the Centre For Sight, that it is well worth having a consultation with them anyway.

Some clinics are happy to operate on almost anyone, which is not good. Mr. Daya will give you an honest opinion as to whether LASIK is suitable for you.

Good luck to everyone who is able to have it done!

I have been thinking of having laser surgery done for many years now to correct my short sighted vision. I have been recommended to the Centre For Sight by my optician who has also just had the procedure. (couldn't ask for a better recommendation than an optician!). I plan to arrange a consultation and willlet you know the results and then hopefully keep you posted as to the results of the op. I am slightly concerned though, that The Centre For Sight is the only clinic on these pages with NO comments from ANYONE! Any ideas as to why that should be??

After many months of research I have chosen Centre for Sight and Mr Daya for my Lasik surgery. I am booked in for April but thought it would be of interest in the light of recent national media attention about the dangers of Lasik to mention last weeks Watchdog. The program highlighted a number of cases of patients at High St stores with problems, but went on to interview Mr Daya as the consultant whom Watchdog had chosen to support their piece and how he was doing corrective surgery to fix the mistakes of other companies. A very encouraging and telling example of why I have chosen him. I intend to write again with my experiences after surgery but I thought the above was worthy of note to those currently doing their research.

I am a practising Consultant Eye Surgeon in Karachi Pakistan for the last 12 years.Though I was trained as an Eye Surgeon in England and also practised few years in England. I now practise Lasik and Phaco Surgery in Karachi. I travel extensively to keep myself updated, I was in England in July 2003 and in Munich for the Lasik Conference and would be in Los Angeles in Nov.2003, I have watched almost all the well known Lasik Surgeons in the world including Mr Daya. I am very much impressed with his competence, professionalism and honest opinions to his patient and above all "mending corneas" where surgery has gone wrong at other centres. Mr Daya is now a world known eye surgeon. May God bless him.

I am seriously considering Lasik surgery and have already been assessed by Mr Giledi. Looking at these comments pages, however, I see no feedback on Mr Giledi. Has anyone been treated by him? I would very much like to hear of other patients' experiences.

I have been to Centre For Sight today and have been told I am unable to have Laser surgery due to extremely thin corneas. I am now considering ICL implants and would greatly appreciate anyone contacting me with their experiences of this procedure. Thank you.

I am truly delighted with the results! All member of staff are extremely friendly and professional. The evening seminar that I attended prior to my decision to have surgery was very beneficial. All my numerous questions were answered in a patient and caring manner. I would enthusiastically recommend the Centre For Sight to other patients.

I visited the Centre for Sight for a consultation after having already been to ACCUVISION. Sadly, I was very disappointed by the Centre for Sight. There were many patients waiting and it felt like we were on a conveyor belt going through thesystem(for which we were paying £(% a head!) All the staff were very friendly but a different person did each different test so there was no constant person to develop a rapport with and to answer all my questions. Several of the personnel did not know the answers to my questions and referred me to Mr. Daya. When I finally saw Mr. Daya he was very charming but avoided answering any of the questions I had about the technology he was using by saying that I should not concern myself with such matters - that's his job. I had done extensive research before attending the consultation and I felt I had many pertinent questions that I needed answers to. Mr. Daya's slightly arrogant attitude worried me and I therefore decided to go ahead with ACCUVISION, the results of which were FANTASTIC!! There are obviously many people who are very satisfied after using the Centre for Sight but i'm afraid they just weren't for me.

Right eye has never been right. Was told that my brain needed to become accustomed to my new eyes. Was back in glasses within a year. I have tried contact lenses again but vision in right eye cloudy.
Would not reccommend it to any one.
Centre for Sight want me to pay a further £190 just for another consultation.I am taking advice on this and will probabley have to get the NHS to sort it out. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY
