1. Review of AccuVision Laser Eye Clinic

Established in 2001, AccuVision is a popular destination for people seeking quality, affordable laser eye surgery. This clinic currently operates in five cities nationwide: London, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol and Newcastle, and has performed over 40,000 treatments and counting.

What did independent inspectors find? According to the CQC’s latest report, there were no complaints between August 2016 and September 2017 from 1,011 refractive eye procedures carried out at AccuVision.

Is there anything else I should know? Most of the eye surgeons on our site enjoy five-star ratings, and the same is true for AccuVision. But it’s worth noting we only have 10 reviews for Dr Prashant Jindal.

Patients always want to find an ophthalmologist they feel comfortable with. That’s why it’s always a good idea to do your own research by trying to meet with your surgeon at an initial consultation, and many clinics offer these for free.

2. AccuVision Treatments

As well as common laser vision correction treatments – such as LASEK and LASIK with ultra-accurate Wavefront diagnostics – AccuVision also offers lens replacement surgery, including the UK’s most common surgical procedure: cataract surgery.

  1. LASIK eye surgery
  2. Trans-Epithelial Surface Treatment
  3. Lens replacement surgery
  4. ICL surgery (implantable contact lenses)
  5. Cataract surgery
  6. Amblyopia (lazy eye treatment)

So is it safe? AccuVision promises highly sophisticated, automated devices, with world-class Wavefront technology and the Alcon WaveLight EX500 Excimer laser. According to the clinic’s own study of 500 patients, everyone achieved at least driving standard vision following surgery (including repeat surgery).

3. AccuVision Laser Eye Clinic Prices

AccuVision’s prices are reasonable rates in laser eye surgery. On average, 800 patients told Lasik Eyes they paid £1,200 (per eye) for laser eye surgery, and £3,615 (per eye) for lens replacement surgery (including cataract surgery) – few clinics have lower starting prices.

AccuVision doesn’t publish a fixed price list, but here are the costs you can expect for the most popular eye surgeries:

  • Consultation Price: Free for initial consultation
  • LASIK Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
  • Trans-Epi Price: Average cost £2,400 for both eyes
  • C3R Treatment Price: Average cost £2,000 per eye

Here’s how these prices compare to the eye surgery quotes offered by other clinics:

TreatmentOptical Express Cost (per eye)Optegra Cost (per eye)Optimax Cost (per eye)Centre for Sight Cost (per eye)
LASIK / LASEKFrom £595£1,795£1,695£2,400
Cataract SurgeryFrom £3,195£2,495£2,995From £3,150
ICL SurgeryFrom £3,395£3,495£2,495£3,615

Eye surgery isn’t an insignificant cost for most people. That’s why AccuVision offers a 10 month finance option, which lets you spread the costs of surgery after the initial deposit into smaller monthly fees. You will need to pass a credit check with Hitachi Capital to gain approval for this payment plan.

That said, most clinics provide finance plans for much longer – up to three years, and also team up with health insurers who may cover at least some of the costs of the surgery (which AccuVision doesn’t).

The internet is a wonderful tool for research. You really don't want to cut corners, especially when it comes to eye surgery, so forums and personal testimonials are invaluable in making the right decision. I've never taken the time to write one before, but my experience with Accuvision has changed all that. It was personal testimonials like this, along with my brothers recommendation that prompted me to go for a consultation. The Solihull branch had a relaxed, no pressure atmosphere, and they had plenty of time for me. Tests were done and all options explained. I also asked a lot of questions about other companies offering similar treatments, and their answers satisfied me that I was making the right choice. I booked my surgery 3 days later having had time to think about it, and 3 weeks later had it done. It's now 54hrs later and the results are amazing, I had 20/20 vision after 24hrs, and it's improving, giving clearer vision than with my lenses already. It may be a few hundred quid more than some other companies, but in my opinion it's money well worth spending.

I choose to have laser eye surgery after much debating and research my consultation with Accuvision in Solihull was the third that I had. I liked the fact that the wavefront technology was offered as standard and the lesser treatment offered by other companies was not an option. I also liked the fact that there was no additional charge for the wavefront technology. The whole procedure from the first consultation to the post check-ups was made very easy and uncomplicated and the care I have received was excellent. My level of short sightedness was high but the results have been amazing and it has been worth every penny.

7 days ago I was -4.75 with astigmatism in both eyes and large pupils. Today I have gone back for my one week check up to be told that I have no prescription whatsoever and have better than 20:20 vision. Furthermore I've been at work all week in front of my laptop (for 14 hours on Wednesday) and experienced no sight problems or discomfort at all! The surgery itself was unbelievably easy. Waiting in the waiting room beforehand I ought to have been worried, but it was impossible to be as every 15 mins someone emerged from the surgery room with an enormous smile on their face. Very reassuring. Then it was less than 20 mins from when I was called in to when I myself emerged. There was just no time to get worried. Personally if there's pain to be felt, I'll feel it. So when I read everyone else saying there's no pain I was a little doubting. But they were right, there really is none. In fact, the most pain I experienced was when I woke up the following morning and had to take off the eye shields which were stuck to my face using a type of tape. It was like removing a plaster. When choosing my clinic I had had no recommendations so they were all starting from an equal position. After reviewing this site I decided upon Accuvision or Optical Express (I also booked with Ultralase and Optimax but their appointments were not for a month and I was so sold after seeing Accuvision I booked the surgery for two weeks later. I had been considering surgery and been to see Ultralase 3 years ago so I didn't feel that I was rushing things but felt that I should go and see another clinic to be sure. Optical Express was booked for the following weekend so I decided to attend that appointment. We got off to a bad start when I turned up on time and then waited for 20 mins before going into my appointment and the staff were not particularly informative or apolgetic about it. My optician was very nice, although had to get some help working the first piece of test equipment as it was set to the wrong settings. I tried asking some questions about the surgery and laser that I had from my research but she was unable to answer properly and I got the impression she had her script and did not know enough to detour from it. After quoting me a price higher than Accuvision I was sat in the waiting room again before speaking to a 'Sales Counseller' who was basically a sales person. Accuvision do not offer Intralase. Optical Express do and think it's amazing. My sales lady proceeded to answer every question and argument I had for the microkeratome with 'But we are best. I can tell you Intralase is best'. that failed to convince me and instead annoyed me. I left knowing that I wanted to go with Accuvision as they had been so helpful, so knowledgeable and completely un-forceful. I felt totally relaxed at the Fulham branch, whereas the reading Optical Express branch left me feeling bothered and untrusting. However I knew I needed to look into the Intralase vs Microkeratome issue further. After much research I concluded that the two techniques are excellent in terms of risks etc. Both have slightly different risks i.e. flap complications (fixable) with the microkeratome or blade and increased light sensitivity and more suction on the eye with the Intralase. I decided that both would give excellent results and that I didn't want to pay an extra £1000 to go with Optical Express. So I phoned to cancel (I had put a deposit down to secure the coming Friday as I was being impatient) which took 4 phone calls. I had to speak to a sales counsellor again who pretty much told me that i would be stupid to not have intralase and made cancellation very difficult and stressful. Their basic technique is to not take no for an answer and eventually wear you down. Anyway. Accuvision have been amazing form the beginning. From having the phone answered by Joan (one of the optometrists) who was lovely and knowledgeable from the start. My consultation was then with her and as I said before she answered all my questions and seemed to know and understand what she was talking about. To conclude this long spiel (sorry it's so long!! but this site really helped me because of the level of information some people provided and I wanted to do the same). The procedure itself is amazing, and whether you go with the microkeratome or intralase the risks are very low (do some of your own research and decide whether you want to pay more for Intralase. The high street clinics sing it's praises but that's because it sounds better - who likes the idea of a man with a blade near your eye, although during surgery it looked just like a metal ring, not a blade - and they can charge you more for it. I did also conclude that I would probably have got excellent vision with most of the clinics, I went with Accuvision because they gave me the best feeling. And as everyone says, anyone with glasses should do this. There is NO reason not to. Finally, thanks to all at Accuvision; Optometrists Vik and Joan were so good, and my surgeons Dr's Prashant and Darius did an amazing job on the day. I went out in the rain today and and didn't get rain all over my glasses. Amazing!!

15 Aug 2008

I had my surgery in April 2008 and I have just been discharged from the Accuvision clinic in Solihull, Birmingham. I have 130% vision - better than 20/20!! I read lots of reviews on this site and also visited Ultralase before making my final decision. I just felt so at ease with the staff at Accuvision and I felt I could ask them anything and that they were very honest and open. At Ultralase it was almost as if they were repeating the exact same spiel over and over to the thousands who pass through their door. They also wouldn't stop calling me after the appointment. Accuvision don't apply any pressure whatsoever - they leave you to make your own mind up. I think that it's important to know for anyone considering surgery that it can take a while for your eyesight to recover and settle down. I certainly wasn't one of those that could step out of the clinic and immediately see across the road! My eyes were sensitive and my focus rather up and down for a fortnight or so, but I was able to return to work after a few days and was always closely monitored by the clinic. My night vision took several weeks longer as I had quite a lot of halo effect and ghosting so I wasn't comfortable driving at night. I was a bit concerned about this, but they assured me that this was normal. Four months on, it is much better. Accuvision in Solihull is a small clinic and they get their customers through recommendation not intense advertising like their larger competitors. The team are so friendly - especially Nick, and my results are fantastic so I cannot recommend them enough!

Accuvision Solihull, Amazing, really really really good customer services and relations i was given direct email addresses for contact to surgeons and opticians so if id got any problems i just had to mail them, i very extremely comfortable at every stage with all the staff. Only once was i asked how id be paying unlike everywhere else i went especially Ultralase, Accuvision staff where very personal and nobody seemed textbook on the whole process as everyone's eyes are different i was a patient and not a cash point. I've just had my 6 month check up and I'm all well, but ive been offered a 12 month check at no extra cost just to reassure myself i made the right decision. The cost of surgery wasn't an issue for me i went where i was most comfortable and accuvision was the one, and it was the cheapest too so that was a bonus. Ultralase and optimax spent as long talking about finance options as they did about surgery when i was paying cash so they needn't of bothered. Also elsewhere when having consultations i was passed between numerous staff and nobody treated me personally. Accuvision knew me on a first name basis within days and where happy to answer all my questions and i wasn't given some ridiculous brochure to try win me over just plain and simple AMAZING service, it really was the best thing ive done in my life, Only 1 day later i didn't need my glasses and my eyes settled within 1 week to better than 20-20 Thanks Nick and the Team! Very highly recommended!

i had worn glasses since i was 13months old and had a squint. I'm so glad i had it done now i can see 20;20 vision Accuvision in Solihull was the only place that could do it.

I had been wearing glasses since the age of 2 and had never, ever seen clearly without them! Im 28 years old and my prescription was R -4.50 / -6.00 x90 L -6.25 / -4.50 x 90 I had really bad astigmatism! After researching into laser eye surgery, I was recommended Accuvision by at least 3 people and booked a consultation at the London branch. The staff were extremely professional and took time explaining my options for laser surgery. Because my prescription was so severe, I was recommended Wavefront Lasik surgery. Its been over a year now since my eye operation and I still wake up everyday, overjoyed that I can see clearly straight away! Its like a miracle! All my life I have longed to be able to see without my glasses and now i can! My vision is now better than it was with my glasses! If you are thinking about having laser eye surgery, I would strongly recommend it. It has changed my life!

When my optician suggested for me to have laser treatment on my eyes I was a bit worried, because several years ago I had LTK laser treatment to both eyes and the results had been very disappointing. My vision had regressed, I was having to wear specs all day and the surface of my corneas was very irregular. The Accuvision team at Solihull were brilliant; they examined my eyes very carefully and inspired me with such confidence that I agreed to have further laser surgery. They explained everything in ways I could understand, and made sure that any doubts I had were fully explored. Now I have had Lasik treatment to my very bad eye, my vision is 20/20 and I am delighted. I am happy to recommend Accuvision to anyone like me.

Initially I was given a very detailed and extensive eye examination to decide the best treatment for me. My prescription being +6 and my age over 45 it was decided that the best treatment would be Clear lens Exchange (CLE), where the natural crystalline lens inside the eye has been replaced with an interocular implant. My surgery has been a great success and I can now see better than I was able to with contact lenses or glasses before the surgery. I have had mono-vision for most of my life due to an operation as a child to repair a squint, so being given mono-vision with my new lenses is no problem for me. I have been given Toric lenses due to the extreme astigmatism that I have and the calculations made by Accuvision have been perfect. The surgery was for me an extraordinary experience. The first eye was done on 16th July 2008 and the second on 6th Aug 2008.The clinic seemed very careful about cleanliness and all my anxiety about the surgery was alleviated from the care taken by the anaesthetist. The treatment is quick (20 minutes) and painless I concentrated on managing a calm breath and looking straight up. The next morning I could take off my bandage and see for the first time without glasses, amazing. I can read the smallest writing on the card they give you to test your vision, incredible. I have worked out that within 10 years I will have paid the £5000 back by not having to spend money on upgrading my glasses and contact lenses and all the extras that come with them.

I did a lot of research into different companies in my area (Midlands) and also read a lot of reviews on this website. I found the larger companies quite impersonal and persistent which put me off and I wasn't lured by their offers. I originally went to Accuvision for a consultation in July 2007. I was seen by Nick Dash who did various tests and explained that I had thin corneas so needed Trans-Epi treatment which he explained with the risks involved and that the recovery time would be longer. I found Nick and the staff at the Solihull Clinic very professional and decided not to go to any other clinics. It took me several months for me to take the plunge, after a lot of thinking and with no pressure from Accuvision. I made an appointment in March to have my surgery in April. On the day, I had a few more test to make sure there were no changes as it had been a while since the consultation. Everyone was very helpful (Nick, Vic & Surgeon) and reassuring. The surgery was amazingly quick and pain free. My eyes were checked before I could leave. I was given eye drops to put in regularly and painkillers. The first 48 hours my eyes were very sensitive so I had to wear sunglasses in the house and they took a few days to settle. The first 24 hours were the worst as they were watery and very painful. The eye drops really helped and I put them in religiously! I had a 24 hour, week, month and now a 3 month check. Within a week I could see very clearly but remembered what Nick said that in time my vision would improve even more. After my visiti in August, Nick told me my eyes were now better than 20:20 vision - 133% :) I was shown images of my eyes, before and after. I could see that the irregularities in my corneal shape had been improved giving me better quality of vision. I have already recommended Accuvision to several people and I would not want my eyes in anyone else's hands! My advice is not to expect clear vision in 24 hours!
