I had my treatment at the Maidstone branch with Mr Ramanathan. At the initial appointment I had a very long serious of eye tests, some which had to be repeated as the machinery wouldn't seem to work. On the day of the treatment I was asked to arrive at 8am, my surgeon couldn't find the clinic, so I didn't get treated until 10.30am. (that's a long time to sit feeling nervous). The procedure went well, although I did struggle to understand what my surgeon was saying with his strong accent. I was taken through to the recovery room, where I spent all of 5 minutes before being asked if I was ready to leave. Personally, I felt like I should have sat and recovered for longer, but the 'assembly line' of waiting patients need my chair! Back at the car my vision was quite poor and it was painful to fully open my eyes. Back home I sat in a dark room with sunglasses and a black t-shirt over my eyes to try to relieve the brightness which was causing the pain. This continued for about 6 hours. By 5pm I could finally see properly, no discomfort or watering any more. I was able to drive within 24 hours, and was back at my computer screen the next day.
I now have 20/20 vision which I am extremely pleased with. I just think that I would have liked to have sat and recovered for longer and the pre-op explanations should make you aware of how uncomfortable and painful your eyes will be immediately post-op.
As a diver, who had previously needed a prescription dive mask, the freedom of 'natural' vision is just wonderful, and to risk sounding like a cliché, I wish I'd have done this years ago!
