Had wavefront lasik with intralase at London clinics on Friday 10 August. Delighted with result so far. Ultralase are very thorough both with their documentation and consultation/briefing. There is no pain involved in the procedure but the pressure applied to the eye is very unpleasant and the whole thing quite unnerving. I chose Ultralase because they offer after care in Jersey where I live and I have not been disappointed. Very professional company, not the cheapest but what price your eyes?! Bristol Clinic - Very kind & friendly staff, thorough discussion with the surgeon (although he contradicted early things said by Customer services / sales' staff). Opted for LASEK Wavefront because of night vision - I live in a rural area so need good night vision for driving - and SCUBA diving. Had op 4 weeks ago. They even negotiated on the price as I said I couldn't afford the full Wavefront price...and wouldn't risk the cheaper version after the full consultation about night vision effects. I had PRK in my left eye in June and then in my right eye in August, performed by Vinod Gupta at Hammersmith. I have to say i couldn't be happier, Mr Gupta and the team have been so fantastic. I was on the table and ready to have Lasik when Mr Gupta said he couldn't go ahead with it as i had 'loose epithelium', my only option in my mind was to have PRK. I was never pushed into anything and was even given time in a spare office to go on the net to do research. I had Ultralasik plus with Intralase because I didn't want to take any chances with my eyesight. I went with Ultralase due to recommendation from a number of people who had used them and a few tales of woe from people who had gone elsewhere. Even though they are probably not the cheapest, I was not at all diappointed and feel I had value for money. The staff were really pleasant, went into great detail with me pre-op and happily answered all my questions, of which there were many. I was seen at Liverpool Ultralase. The surgeon was fantastic and 1 week post op with Ultralasik and wavefront and intralase I can see better than 20-20. The only downside was that the customer service there was really poor - I have had appointments with the optometrist cancelled twice and had to travel a long way to alternative clinic in Manchester when I was concerned about my eye a few days post op (albeit at ultralase's expense). I had UltraLasek plus (incl. Wavefront) on 19/12/06 and have just had my 6 month check-up. The surgery was carried out at the Bristol branch by Dr Tahmina Islam. My prior prescription was: R -4.25 SPH, -2.00 CYL, 3 AXIS and L -4.00 SPH, -2.25 CYL, 3 AXIS and I now am delighted to have 20:20 vision. In natural light my eyesight is excellent, but in artificial light its not quite as good - something I never noticed with glasses. Also, my eyes are occasionally a little dry in the mornings and there's a little discomfort if I rub them too hard. Don't put up with glasses or contact lenses. Ultralase is brilliant. I am so glad I went to the consultation. Treatment was fast and my vision was 20/20 just after 24 hours. Following surgery for my long sight I now consider myself visually impaired. Ultralase over corrected my eyes from about +5 to -1.75. I have multiple images, glare, haloes, starburst and my left eye is so scarred that even glasses have little effect. I went for a consulation at their Hammersmith clinic and they seemed very thorough and professional. They were a little bit pushy on convincing me to proceed but I managed to avoid booking as having been elsewhere already for a consulation I already knew I could get the exact same procedure done elsewhere for less money. My final view was that they charge too much. Also if I had wanted to proceed the next available surgery date was a long way off and I think once you've made the decision to go ahead you don't want to wait almost 2 months! Having laser eye treatment was somethingI considered, but didn't think it was for me until a colleague had it done. Now I believe everyone should at least have a consultation and if they can have the treatment then they should. Since having my treatment, I've been accused of having cosmetic surgery, hair extensions, having just been on holiday and buying coloured contacts!! I still can't believe it's true! From my first consultation, where everyone was welcoming, reassuring and efficient through to the aftercare appointments where today I could even read the bottom line, I found everyone at Ultralase to be very professional. I have worn glasses from approximately 16 years and was unable to wer contact lenses. I made contact with Ultralase about 2 years ago but the nearest clinic was Newcastle and I did not like the idea of having the treatment then travelling such a long distance home.
