It has been a month since I got LASIK with wavefront done on both my eyes in the Manchester clinic. I was -5 in one eye and -5.5 in the other. I have 20/20 vision now thanks to Ultralase. Although this I will only know for sure when my eye sight settles down after 3 months. They are quite expensive but when it comes to eyes I dont think I wanted to take any risks. I had retreatment to both eyes 10 days ago at the Leeds clinic and now my vision is BETTER than 20/20! I am thrilled to pieces and the worries over whether to have retreatment or not was not necessary! The procedure is different to the 'first time'in that no pressure ring is used and no blade! Easy peasy! Everything has gone like a dream and I can't thank Ultralse enough! I had microsurgery done about 6 years ago. I got them checked out at the LCRS last month and my eye sight is 20/20 in both eyes with a little astigmatism in my right eye but not noticeable. David Jory did my surgery and was honest about everything and lets you make your own desicion and not push you into anything. I can night drive with no problems but still have some starburst but for those of you that have trouble with it there is an eyedrop you can put in both eyes at night that virtually erradicates it. Mr Jory prescribed me some ALLERGAN ALPHAGAN 0.2% (brimonidine, tartate) comes in a 5ml bottle and lasts a month. Its great stuff that cures starbursts and you can get it from your DR. ...  More...

Have been for my first consulation on Saturday 4th Nov at the Newcastle Clinic and have been told that I have very thin cornea's with the added complication of having large pupils. The surgeon that was on duty said he wouldn't perform the surgery but I was told another two surgeons also worked out of the clinic and my file would be passed to them to see if they would perform Lasek. I was wondering if anyone else had had this problem and whether they actually went ahead with surgery and what the results were. After several years of 'playing' with the idea of laser surgery, I finally got down to some serious research over the last 3 months or so. Cost was never going to figure in the equation as, in general, I believe that you get what you pay for. Intralase done! I had intralase with ultra lasik plus 4 days ago and having finally stopped shaking (!) I thought I'd come on to describe the treatment day. My prescription was -3.25 in both eyes prior to treatment. The treatment itself was fine although I was naturally very worried beforehand. I had my treatment done at the Manchester clinic and all of the staff there were brilliant. Before treatment I had to put on plastic covers on my shoes and pile my hair into a plastic hat. Iodine was wiped on the outside of my eyes and anaesthetic drops put in my eyes. Having made the decision that for my 40th birthday I wanted to do something life changing. I decided that the best present I could ever have was perfect eyesight. Wow, I hadn't realised how much wan't seeig - even with my glasses on. It's wonderful, like being reborn at 51! I had my initial consultation in the Newcastle clinic whilst living in the North East and then treatment in Chelmsford, the fact that clinics are all over the UK was a massive plus point for me. I had my surgery on the 10th August 2006,about a week after my free consultation at St. Albans clinic. I had the all singing & dancing intralase, wavefront lasik on 22nd June at the Chelmsford branch. I am 100% thrilled - it has really exceeded my expextations!!! When you have a severe prescription (mine were -6.50 & -6.25) you have to have realistic expectations, so I would have been very happy to have just had glasses, say, for driving. No need! I had surgery with Ultralase about 20 months ago. Nearly two years down the line I still get the “wow” factor: my acuity is 6/4 bordering on 6/3 on a bright day and this result has been constant since the healing process was completed. I had my eyes treated with the intralase at the Chelmsford clinic back in March this year. Considering I was so shortsighed I couldn’t even read a book without my glasses on, waking up the morning after treatment with 20/20 vision was just priceless. I had both eyes done six months ago. One has good vision, not quite as good as with my contacts but perfectly OK. The other is still a bit blurry but improving very slowly. I think the one thing I have to say is that you are not sufficiently warned about the pain after the procedure. 'Discomfort' hardly covers it! I had my surgery at the Tottenham Court Road clinic on Thursday morning.I was very apprehensive but everyone there was so nice it really helped reassure me. I went for a consultation at Ultralase's Tottenham Court Road branch in London. Everyone was very helpful and friendly, but I did feel a bit passed around from one person to the next. The optician was very informative, and as I had a small prescription (-1.0 and -1.25) told me that I would be suitable for any of their procedures - it was up to me. However when I was passed to the final person - the salesman - he basically rubbished the cheaper two options, and really implied that the only sensible choice to make was the £3000 wavefront option. I am having my surgery tomorrow at the Tottenham Court Road clinic. I'm obviously feeling apprehensive but I can't help feeling excited too. I keep looking over the top of my glasses at the view from my desk to try and memorise how little I can actually see. I really hope that it goes well and that I don't regret it. My vision has been excellent after the treatment but I have to say that whether its because I am getting use to it or my vision is starting to deteriorate again I am not sure. The worst problem was always driving at night but this is still very good its mostly of a morning I find that my eyes are caked with 'sleep' for want of a better word. I had LASEK at ULtralase in St. Albans on 29th December for -6.75 perscription in both eyes. I was advised that I could return to my job as a PA (working all day on a computer in an air conditioned office) within 3 days, although did so on 3rd Jan (5 days later) I had really blurred vision and couldn't hardly see my computer screen although as I was under a lot of pressure at work at the time decided to do what I could (oh how I regret that!) I had my lens bandages removed on day 7 (5th Jan) and my vision then was even blurrier! This is just a note of caution amongst all these hugely postive notes. I had Lasek for -4.25 / -1.50 astigmatism in oth eyes on 3 March 2006 and am having significant problems entering week 8, and I am not totally re-assured by Ultralase's treatment to date. My right eye's epithelial took 5 wks to heal which is apparently very long; at that point I was about 20/20 in my left but had -1.75 in my right eye. Since then both eyes have regressed due to corneal haze according to Vinod Gupta my surgeon. I have been told to wait anotehr month for a checkup and that this could take up to 12 months to clear. My eyesight was very poor and I had to have a very strong prescription for each eye. The consultations were very helpful and professional, and treatment was not recommended until my sight had settled after contact lenses. I was advised that I would probably need spectacles for driving, computer work and TV etc. The Lasek treatment was not uncomfortable at all and I could see better straight away. Initial soreness disappeared overnight, but it took a few days for my eyes to settle. I had lasek done at hammersmith about months ago. Originally was going to have lasik but followed their experts advice and had lasek. Ultralase excellent throughout, incl when I got poked in the eye a week after surgery (fully recovered). I was very nervous, especially with the switch to lasek, but it was all fine and almost completely painless. One word of advice - if you have lasek get some audio books in to last the first 2-3 days, during which time you're pretty useless, and don't assume you're going to be driving for the first week or two - I understand lasik is much quicker recovery.  More...

I was very impressed with the initial consultation with Ultralase to assess my suitability for surgery to correct my vision. I'm really pleased with the laser eye surgery. The experience wasn't painful but a little bizarre! I felt that I could really trust the staff right through from the receptionists to the surgeon. I'm still getting used to not having to fumble for my glasses in the morning and went swimming for the first time a couple of weeks ago which was also odd as I could see the clock at the pool for the first time so could see how I was doing! I was one of the unlucky customers that needed the operation performed twice, this was due to the corneal flap not being cut properly the first time. However, I did have to go through the post-op aftercare service including all the eye drops etc without having the benefit of better vision. The service was outstanding and they did everything and more to ensure that I was looked after properly and were very reassuring. I have been totally amazed by the freedom that the treatment has given me. When I went for the initial consultation I was advised that the treatment may leave me unable to see uncorrect for driving, but on tests following the treatment my eyesight is now better than when corrected with glasses. Without doubt my experience with Ultralase was one of the most positive of my entire life. My only sorrow is that this procedure was not available when I was younger. Having been severley short sighted from the age of 11, I suffered years of wearing milk bottle bottom glasses and subsequently contact lenses. My lasek procedure was effortless, painless and instantly effective. My eyesight was so bad that I was rejected from having corrective laser surgery by another laser company. On seeing an advert for the Ultralase new wavefront laser, I decided to make an appointment and see if laser technology had progressed enough to correct my eyesight. An appointment was made and several tests by the professional and friendly staff, I was delighted when I was told I could have the lasek surgery. The staff were fantastic, the service was also second to none. The difference it has made to my life - well...... Always shy and hiding behind glasses no more. I had Ultralasik plus November 10th 2005 and have to say I'm one of the unfortunate ones that might have to have surgery again. My eyesight was -2.50 and -2.75 and now -0.50 -0.75, as it's now been 4 mths I have to wait another 3mths to see if my prescription has stabalised. The surgery at the time was weird it's knowing what they were doing and not feeling it at all, the staff have been very understanding. As my eyesight has not been up to scratch I was prescribed a temporary prescription for glasses if I wanted to drive but have decided to wait the extra 3 mths as I'm scared my eyes wll get used to glasses again. I had ultra-lasik plus with wavefront treatment on Friday morning. By teatime I was reading the teletext from the other side of the room and had no pain whatsoever. I had worn glasses since the age of 2 and had quite bad astigmatism. I was actually turned down by another company but I have acheived 20/20 vision at the first attempt and am over the moon! I had surgery approx 10 days ago. right eye is as good as when i wore glasses, left eye is just a bit better than driving standard. overall the sight is very good, and it may still improve slightly. if it doesn't i'll still be delighted. i've only driven at night once and there were a lot of starburts around car headlihghts, but this is supposed to improve with time. again if it doesn't i can live with it. i have large pupils (8mm), thin corneas, and had an average prescription (-4.5, -4), with some astigmatism. i had ultralasik plus on both eyes. at the consultation i was told i couldn't have lasik on my left eye because of thin corneas. it would mean i could not ...  More...
