I had laser eye surgery at Ultralase Manchester on Thursday the 17th December 2004. My prescritpion beforehand was -2 in both eyes. I can say for sure that now I have better than 20-20 vision. I noticed this WITHIN an hour after the surgery itself! The next day I had a check up and I could read the bottom line of the eye chart. I cant say that LASIK will work this well for everybody as everybody responds to it differently, but in my case it was a miracle. I had laser surgery in August 2002. I experienced excellent service from consultant, through treatment to after care. It has made a huge difference to my life, especially as I can spend more quality time with my little boy without having my spex knocked off or the legs pulled apart. Having Laser eye treatment is the best thing I have ever done. I had to wear glasses all time for 14 years. it has given me a new lease on life as I play alot of sport which was a pain with contact lenses all the time. I had my procedure in August 2002 at Ultralase. I have no problems at all since. My left eye has gone from -6.5 to -0.25 and my right eye from -6.0 to 0.0. My vision is excellent. The procedure was less scary than I'd imagined. The after "sales" support was very good too. Being slightly nervous, it took me nearly 6 months to find the courage to go through with the treatment. The Ultralase staff were supportive and at no time did they apply any pressure. I had my eyes lasered at Ultralase 2 years ago and can honestly say it's the BEST thing I've ever done in my life. Before surgery I was -7 in both eyes. I can now see perfectly. I had my laser treatment on 12/2/2004. Since then, I discovered at my final checkup that my vision is now BETTER than what it was with glasses. Who can ask for more?? It took me a long time to decide whether or not to go ahead with this type of treatment - even to have a consultation. Having spoken to the staff at ultralase I was fairly sure it was the right thing to do. I didn't want the treatment for vanity reasons - I actually liked wearing glasses, but was finding glasses and contact lenses increasingly inconvenient. Ultralase really changed my day to day life. I used to really struggle with contacts, when I went out and without them couldn't recognise people from more than 5 meters away. I used to spend a fortune on glasses and never really liked wearing them - I used to wear prescription sunglasses but had to carry round normal glasses as well for when I was in buildings. I do alot of clay pidgeon shooting and wear glasses for safety on dry days but when it was raining, one drop of rain on my glasses would distract me completely. I really can't praise Ultralase enough with regards to their professionalism and genuine care for their patients. I was absolutely terrified about having my eyes lasered (it took me 4 years to pluck up the courage to wear contact lenses!) but they immediately put me at ease and I am amazed at the results. From start to finish, the staff at the Ultralase clinic in Birmingham were friendly and helpful. They didn't mind how many questions how asked, no matter how stupid they seemed! On the treatment day, I was put at ease and knew what to expect. As vision in my right eye was not very short sighted, I only had my left eye treated. With a prescription need of minus 9 I had already been turned down by one laser clinic who said my only option was implantable contact lenses. When I went for my consultancy with Ultralase it was very thorough and my results suggested that there was a possibility that I could undergo LASIK. The optician took away my results to discuss with the surgeon and then contacted me a few days later to give me the good news. I went for an initial consultation at the Guildford clinic to see if I was suitable for Wavefront. Well first off I met with what I have to describe as a friendly person who did my prescription but inherently didn’t come across as very professional. My fears where later proved correct when he put drops in my eyes to test me on the wavefront machine (the one with the white/black round circles) only to find the room that this machine was in was occupied. I waited for half an hour which meant the eye drops where not effective when I was tested finally on the machine. Dealing with Ultralase was an absolute pleasure. Not only have they enabled me to identify my own kids in the swimming baths, they also made the whole process simple and above all, friendly and professional. From my very first consulation to the follow up appointments I found everybody really pleasant helful and reassuring. I was most impressed by the smart modern surroundings at the Ultralase Chelmesford clinic. I underwent LASIK treatment in June 2003 at the Ultralase Hammersmith clinic, and its one of the best decisions I've ever made. It was such an easy procedure and all the staff were so friendly and reassuring. I was hardly nervous by the time I went in to the treatment room. I could'nt believe it when later that day I was able to read the clock on the video from the other side of the room!! Can't remember a time when I could ever do that! I consider myself EXTREMELY fortunate with the results that I have had. I was approx. -8.5 right eye and -4.75 left eye with high astigmatism in my right eye. After 7 months my left eye is now perfect, better than 20/20 and my right eye is marginally worse as I still have slight astigmatism. Considering some of the side effects I could have had (I did experience halo effect around headlights and street lights) I have had NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. I do have some reservations about my vision in poor light...but doesn't everyone?!?!? For someone who could not even see the LCD clock on the bedside cabinet even when her face was only two inches away I can not sing the praises of Lasik treatment enough. As a keen sports person I can now run without my glasses streaming up and slipping down my nose, swim without banging into the person swimming in the same lane as me, and lots more if I went on you would probably fall asleep. This was both the most rewarding thing I have ever done (for myself) and at the same time the wierdest. Quite anxious at the outset the staff were very calming and proffessional which put me at ease. The procedure was so easy and comfortable that I wondered at the end what I had been worried about. The aftercare was spot on, any problems or questions were quickly answered. 16 months on and I am still getting used to being able to see perfectly - it is amazing and I would recommend it to anybody I thought it would benefit. I had wavefront lasek surgery in July and Ultralase told me I would particularly benefit as I had such short sight and astigmatism. How right they were! Although my recovery from treatment has been gradual its been well worth it.The aftercare is really good. When I last had a checkup I was told I had better than 20/20 vision; at work I get asked to read all the small print! My eyes no longer get tired and sore and I dont suffer as many headaches as I had before treatment. I keeping singing the song:- "I can see clearly now the rain has gone. Everyone with poor eyesight should have it. Why pay for and wear contact lenses or glasses when you can go without? The best present to myself in my lifetime - my sight back after 17 years without it. I love it. Waking up with sight, sight in the shower, sight in the rain, sight in the middle of the night. Go on, you'll never regret it. Just 3 minutes per eye, 10 minutes rest, then home and you can see in a few hours... waking up the next morning with sight. It's a modern day miracle!!! i had the treatment at 4pm and by 9am the next day i had perfect vision. After wearing glasses for 20 years and struggling with cleaning contact lenses in tents at festivals, i am amazed at the freedom i now have. I still wake up some mornings and go to put my glasses on and then realise i dont have too! i have never been happy wearing glasses so it's also a great confidence booster. Words cannot express the difference to my life after receiving treaatment from Ultralase. It is like being reborn. I have concidered lazer treatment for the last 12 years but have continued to struggle with contact lenses and glasses. When you calculate the money I have spent on both of these, the cost of lazer treatment pales into insignificance. Just being able to go swimming and still be able to find my children is one of the many changes to my life. It has been fantastic since I had it done over two years ago. It has changed my life for the better. I swim and play football regular and do not bother with the contacts anymore. I'm absolutely delighted with the results of my LASEK treatment with Ultralase. They were extremely honest from the outset, informing me that my large pupils and thin corneas made my procedure slightly more difficult to predict. But after an initial period to adapt, everything is perfect. I can go swimming in the sea without having to squint looking for my towel, and walk into warm rooms without fear of steam blocking my vision! As soon as I walked in through the door for my consultation I knew I had chosen the right place to have my treatment. The staff were so warm and friendly, from the people on reception to the team who changed my life. I liked the fact that it was all on first name terms, it made me feel completely at ease. I was quite nervous before my treatment, but all the staff at the Chester clinic were really friendly and put my mind at ease. During the surgery every little procedure was explained, and although it felt a little weird for a few seconds, there was no pain and the operation was over in minutes. I have gone from wearing glasses like milk bottles to having better than 20:20 vision, so I couldn't be more happy with the results. best money i ever spent, apart from driving or TV, i didnt bother wearing glasses or contacts but used to squint constantly to define objects. now i can 'just do as i please' without having to remember glasses for driving or work computer screens. plus i can even read quite comfortably any subtitles on TV which were too much of a headache to take in previously. the staff in tottenham ct rd branch were extremely kind and explained each process fo procedure thoroughly. plus i was never kept waiting which in todays increasingly busy workstyle was very much an advantage and i could get back to work at my pre-arranged timeslot. well done Ultralase and keep up the good work  More...

I was one of those people who could not see the alarm clock or even take a shower without my glasses. I could read the little pull sign on the door, 10 feet away, 30 seconds after the treatment was completed. The sense or freedom is unbeleivable! I am afraid of the dentist so was very nervous about the procedure. It was so easy! The nurse makes you relaxed before you go in and it is over before you know it! I lost my eyesight when I was 13 years old (now thirty).. I had Lasik eye surgery 2 years ago now. This has been the best thing I have ever done. Not only has it given me huge confidence its given me a new lease of life. I can now do things which were slightly restrictive before. What can I say that hasn't been said before? The whole experience from my initial consultation, through the procedure itself and the aftercare was perfect, you didn't just feel like an object being passed through a process. Everyone explained exactly what was going to happen, what the risks were and what you could expect. The day of the treatment was fine, it really doesn't hurt, it is a little freaky as you picture yourself lying there but it isn't everyday you have the top of your eye lopped off so that's to be expected. The opertion itself was more scary thean childbirth, but unlike childbirth is short and painfree. The results were dramatic within a day, I can honsestly say that this has been life changing. I had severe long sight and had given up not wearing glasses or contact lenses, but now have 20/20 vision. I am able to enjoy my life (even in a rainstorm). I had UltraLASEKplus on Tuesday 5th October at your Birmingham Clinic, and I have to admit that for the first few days or so it wasn’t pleasant, and my eyesight whilst improved was not brilliant and my eyes were very uncomfortable. I had my contact bandages removed on Saturday morning, and on Sunday morning I woke up and couldn’t believe it, whilst my eyes were still a bit gritty, my sight had dramatically improved, and since Sunday it has improved even more on a daily basis. I had my Wavefront-guided Lasik treatment at the Chester clinic on 9th August 2004 and the following day had 6/5 vision in both eyes. I couldn't believe how simple and completely painless the whole experience had been. As an operational Police Officer the freedom of not having to wear contact lenses or spectacles is fantastic.
