I would recommend anyone who is wanting to have treatment to go to St.James Hospital to see Mr. Morrell. I had Lasik and Lasek wavefront at 2 different places in Leeds. Both commercial big names in Laser eye surgery in the UK. Unfortunately my eyes have needed further correction and I have now had treatment at St. James Hospital in Leeds. The difference in treatment has been incredible.
1. First of all if you go to see Mr. Morrell you will see him for a consultation. If you go to a commercial laser eye treatment centre you won't see a surgeon until about 10 minutes before your operation. This first appointment is very important as It is so important to discuss your options and suitability with the surgeon beforehand.
2.The second most important thing is the Laser used. St James have just purchased the most up to date Laser and this is why my results are so much better. Mr Morrell operates on the most difficult to treat patients and is an expert in eye surgery of all kinds not just laser surgery.
3. The risks associated with surgery are less with an expert like Mr Morrell because he sees you after surgery to be absolutely sure everything is alright. This is not the case in a commercial centre. Once you have paid and had the operation you will not see the surgeon again.
4. If you need re treatment like me, you will only get this done in a commercial centre free for a limited time. At St. James Hospital re treatment is not charged for.
5. Don't believe the costs of £395 per eye from the commercial centres this is a con. If you look at the average costs most people will pay £1,500 per eye. St James also offer interest free credit.
6. Last but not least. Having laser eye surgery is fantastically liberating and I am so glad I have had it done. I just wish I had gone to St. James first.
