    • LASIK Wavefront using Intralase to create the flap.
My prescription was -5.75 in both eyes with astigmasitm. I had my sergery yesterday at the Cheltenham clinic, the surgeon was Mr George.
My appointment was 3.15pm, I went into theatre at 5.05pm and was discharged at 5.30pm. I was home before 6! I took a book with me as I knew I would have to wait. The surgeon was very good, went through my consent form, made sure I understood the procedure I was having and checked my scans and eyes before surgery. During the procedure he talked me through what was happening and the nurse counted down the laser bits. The flap creation took 22 seconds and the cornea re-shape took 17 seconds. THERE IS NO PAIN. I was worried about the suction when the flap is created but it was a doddle. Just focus on the lights like they tell you and its over before you know it. The nurse gave me a stress ball to hold which is really good as it gives your hands something to do. My surname is Pretty and Mr George made jokes about the pretty flaps he was making in my eyes. It did make me relax although I didn't dare laugh in case my eyes moved! Even when the flaps are put back after the procedure and he smooths them down with a spatula it is not unpleasant. My vision was blurry immediately afterwards but I was able to txt family and friends to let them know it had gone well. Drops wear off after 15 minutes so by the time I got home I was feeling slightly uncomfortable. Had my tea and just lay onthe sofa listening to the TV. Took some paracetomal at about 9.00pm and went to bed at 9.30. Did all my drops and wore the goggles to bed. Woke up once in the night as the goggles were digging in my ear so this morning I've got a sore ear but perfect vision! It has taken me 5 years to pluck up the courage to do this and the fact the Ultralase is now available was the convincing factor in my case. I wouldn't have gone ahead with the blade. More expensive but can you put a price on your eyesight?
