I went to a consultation last Thursday, got a time for the surgery (by Jonathan Carr) in Kingston the next morning and now it has been almost a week with my new eyes.(was -1.25)
The whole experience was more fun than going to a dentist. I am really glad I did it.

Afterwards I had no pain whatsoever and therefore have not needed any painkillers. Just have to take the 4-6 times of eye drops daily for a week and that should do it. No itching, no headache, nothing.

My sight improved already the next day to the level I had with glasses and it should be still getting a bit better.

Just order the info pack from them and after some time you will start receiving offers every now an then. I used a 250£ voucher for mine.
Intralase would probably give you two weeks faster healing time, but in my opinion is not worth the extra 600£.
You might get also the wavefront done a bit cheaper elsewhere, but I can really recommend these guys.
