Pre operative assessments very thorough - I had to have several repeat scans to ensure prescription stability. Lots of information given at every stage and all questions answered. At the clinic on the day of the op, not as much waiting around as predicted but did feel very nervous. Staff were friendly but felt a little like a conveyor belt. Surgeon was very good, and surgical team tried hard to make me feel relaxed as I was quite obviously shaking with nerves! Actually procedure uncomfortable but painless and very quick. I was treated at Optical Express, Hull. Initially seen by the counsellor Dawn Uney who was very informative and conducted a very comprehensive interview. I was then seen by Catherine Adamson the optomatrist whom I found to be a very pleasant and informative professional. At this point I was now completely aware of the procedure and the treatment required and the expected outcome. I cannot fault the customer service it was first class but what they don't tell you is that you could struggle with your eyes for weeks on end. I also think it depends on your age too. My daughter who is in her 30's had no problem whatsoever and could see properly within 24 hours. I am in my early 50's and had mine done the week after her and I really struggled with my vision it was all over the place and made me feel very dizzy. After several weeks my left eye was still very fuzzy and I lost my near vision completely. Fantastic job. I had my treatment on 24th November 2009. Dr Dimitro Kazakos performed my procedure which was both painless and without discomfort. I was able to see within a few hours, better than i can ever remember. I've been wearing glasses from the age of 7. Surgery was on 6 November 2009. I opted for standard bi-lateral surgery and am thrilled. I was a little apprehensive initially having chosen the standard option but I didn't need anything extra and it was fine. The full procedure took less than 10 minutes for both eyes. I had my eyes done yesterday at optical express in meadowhall. staff were really friendly and made me feel at ease, procedure was a little uncomfortable but i think that was down to my nerves. I've just come back from my three month check-up and can honestly say I've forgotten that i ever wore glasses.My surgery was very quick and i had 20/20 vision by the next morning.I plumped for the basic treatment as this was all i could afford i was told about the benefits of wavefront but was never put under any pressure to go for the more expensive option.I'm so glad i had this done and i recommend it to everyone, so much so my friend is booked in to have it done on Monday.My advice don't be squeamish,take paracetamol as soon as you come out then go straight to bed.  More...

I went to a consultation last Thursday, got a time for the surgery (by Jonathan Carr) in Kingston the next morning and now it has been almost a week with my new eyes.(was -1.25) The whole experience was more fun than going to a dentist. I am really glad I did it. Afterwards I had no pain whatsoever and therefore have not needed any painkillers. Just have to take the 4-6 times of eye drops daily for a week and that should do it. No itching, no headache, nothing. My sight improved already the next day to the level I had with glasses and it should be still getting a bit better. Having worn glasses or contact lenses for well over 20 years (and I'm still not 30), this was all about the liberation. And so far it's been brilliant. I went to the Harley Street clinic in August (so just over 2 months ago), and was treated by Mr Patel. I certainly can't fault his work: I don't think I could read the bottom line of the chart with glasses, but I can now - reckon I could probably see another one below that! I have worn glasses since I was 15 years of age, I am now 59! Making the decision to have laser surgery was very scary, what if something went wrong and my eye-site became worse or even.....I lost it all together! Having laser treatments was one of the best decisions in mine life. I had it done a week ago (08.09.09).Still can't get over the fact that I can see. What a fabulous experience from having the surgery right up to today, my six month check up!!! The Surgeon and staff at the Inverness branch of Optical Express are masters of customer service. I have felt extremely safe and well looked after during the past six months of treatment and after care. I used the clinic in Meadowhall (Sheffield) for my treatment. I found this clinic to be well run and the staff extremely friendly. The process from start to finish was explained in great detail and they were more than happy to answer all of my questions. This made me feel very confident in their ability and that relax me throughout the treatment. Afterwards the pain was bearable for the drive home but once i had closed my eyes and gone to sleep i woke to near perfect vision a mere 3 hrs after the surgery. I have to admit I was very impressed from the initial consultation right through to the treatment & after-care by Optical Express, Minsull Street, Manchester. Being a man I was very nervous but on the day the staff & surgeon, Dr. Qazi, put me at great rest & explained everything in detail as it was going to happen. Had this done yesterday and I still can't get over the fact that I can see!! My prescription was very high -6.5 and -7.5 but today I have 20:20 vision. I was extremely impressed with the entire Laser experience, from the initial consultant right through to the aftercare delivered by Optical Express. The procedure itself was so quick and with no pain or discomfort. There was very minimal discomfort post procedure with just a little gritty feeling in my right eye for about an hour, after that there was no discomfort and my was vision was already better. I had my surgery yesterday at Liverpool One. Mr Qazi was my surgeon. All the staff are top quality and treat you in a friendly and professional way. I was nervous on the day but my nerves were eased after my chat with Mr Qazi. The procedure was totally painless. You are given all the information required and extremely good aftercare information. The actual laser part of the treatment took 34 seconds per eye. Although I was in the clinic for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Well - I finally did it at nearly 60 - and it is the best thing I have ever done in my life One very small criticism - the surgeon did try to persuade me on my first visit for my surgery to go to Bristol to have the implants (because of my age) and then I would not have to have reading glasses - but it was a lot more expensive and they can only do 1 eye at a time (I had my treatment in Cardiff) But I am thrilled and wearing reading glasses means nothing to me after wearing glasses all day every day for the last 52 years!!  More...

Prior to the surgery I had read lots of reviews on-line and in fact probably researched it a bit too much to point that I had really freaked myself out. Now my advice to anyone considering laser eye treatment would be - Don't make the same mistake as me and read horror stories on the internet as it will only add to your anxiety. My right eye was done on Friday 7th August and the left eye done on Friday 14th August 2009. Both procedures were absolutely pain free and I have experienced no discomfort afterwards at all. My vision the morning after the second eye was done was 20/20 and is becoming more clear as the days go by. i had standard lasik surgery. no pain at all!! the staff were really reassuring and the following week's recovery was painless thanks to all the drops. the only downside was sleeping in the goggles but they are vital! i cant believe the lack of pain and discomfort i was expecting! i was in and out of the Trafford centre clinic in an hour. after-care service was second to none and the staff in the Preston branch are so supportive and friendly. i even recommended it to my own mother!  More...

I had my treatment done 8 years ago with Optimax Birmingham, however I was still a -1.00 after treatment, and was fobbed off with the excuse with it must be the jelly in my eye, which I now know not to be true! After plucking up the courage (which took 8 years!), I then had my consultation at Chester Optical Express. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience, Jayne the optometrist and Vicky my counsellor were brilliant and made me feel relaxed and at home. They had also both had treatment done which reassured me further. In the main, the whole process went well. The consultation before treatment was detailed, and I found the staff to be very approachable. The actual process itself isnt too bad at all,just the sensation of pressure-its all over so quickly.It was very uncomfortable for the first hour on the journey from Bristol to Exeter, I was hypersensitive to light and could not open my eyes. It eased up considerably after the prescribed rest period.After my one week consultation I had the fantastic result of 20/20 vision in my weaker eye and better than 20/20 in my right. IT REALLY IS WORTH IT!. From start to finish I found the staff at Chester, Manchester and the Trafford Centre very friendly and professional. I had a problem with the eye clamp staying in place the first time I went for treatment. This was down to nerves and the fact that I was so very tense. The surgeon was very reassuring and told me that they would be able to try again in about 10 days, after the redness in my eye had gone down. As a surgeon I did a lot of online research prior to embarking on this. I found optical express to be helpful, efficient and transparent and perhaps a bit less commercial than some of the other clinics who continue to bombard me with emails and post. They explained each part of the work up process and they provided me with details of the surgeon. The day of treatment was very straightforward and relaxing. I haven't had a treatment with optical express but I had a terrible experience with them after a free consultation, and learnt my lesson. Nothing is free! I told this really nice and friendly person who assisted me there that I had financial problems and had to think about the best option. She said that I should pay £200 deposit in order not to lose the possible given surgery date. This was on 2nd June. And she said if I changed my mind in three days they would give the money back. Then I had to cancel the appointment for the surgery and asked for a refund. Today is 30th June and since then I have been trying to get the money back, and still haven't. I found the initial consultation a little 'salesy' but was expecting that. Staff were all very helpful and knowledgeable though. Had my treatment in Glasgow on 27th June. Arrived at 10am and was all done by 10:45. Staff were really nice and reassuring. Treatment wasn't pleasant but wasn't painful and was at least over very quickly! My vision was very cloudy after the procedure and I found it very hard to keep my eyes open - came home and slept for an hour and when i woke up my vision was great and by later that night was as good as it was with glasses. I used Optical Express at Cabot Circus Bristol, which initially seemed ok, and was referred for surgery to Bristol's Cribb's Causeway. The Cabot Circus branch initially seemed good; new store so quick getting seen. Due to having strong myopia and astigmatism, and the fact that Wavefront offered a better correction (whereas glasses and contacts measurements use lenses measured in 0.25 diopter increments, wavefront sensors work in 0.01 diopter increments), I was sold Wavefront Intralase LASIK at over £3K. There was initially a minor mix up with admin - Cribbs called to say that their Cabot Circus colleagues should have taken the fees already, and made comments that they ought to know better ...  More...

I had my surgery approx 2 months ago, I still cannot not believe the result , amazing! Better than 20.20 vision. Initially the wait prior to the operation was too long,really . However once with the surgeon and his team, the procedure went very well and quickly. This was quite an unnerving experience, the team were very reassuring during the procedure, which put my mind at ease. Afterwards,my eyes were very sore and stung for several hours afterwards, resting was difficult. My experience is a bit of a mix bag with Optical express. Having said that having laser surgery is one of the best things I have ever done! I have just had my consultation ay Optical Express Brighton & I am seriously considering having surgery at the Bluewater Clinic. I am suitable for for the basic Lasik procedure with the manual flap cut!! as my prescription is -1.5 & -2. Could anyone tell me if they have been to the Bluewater clinic & if they have had the basic surgery with the manual flap cut. I keep putting myself off by reading horror stories on the net!! I've had worse hairdresser appointments than laser surgery, honestly it was the most bizarre experiance ever, I felt nothing during the surgery and afterwards just 2 hours worth of irritiation like an eyelash was caught in my eye and after the 2 hours i had the best vision of my life!!!! Colours look different to me now they are so much brighter, and i can put my make up on properly and not look like a drag queen !!! Had the treatment 6 days ago fro a -6.5 with -3 astigmatism in both eyes. The pre op care and the surgery all was very good, courteous and professional. At present I am extremely disappointed with the results and am wishing that I never went ahead with it. I was expecting a vast improvement when I got the contact lenses removed 2 days ago. However my vision is blurred and I am seeing all the characters on my keyboard in double. The computer screen is impossible to read.. And driving is not possible, my vision is nowhere near this standard. I cannot go to work as I need good vision and use computers all day. My prescription used to be -8.75 and -7.5. I had LASIK treatment on Friday 5th June 09 in Aberdeen with surgeon Susanna Boytha. Two days on and I have 20:20 vision. The staff at Optical Express were great, before, during and after the procedure. On the morning of my op, I arrived at 9am and was seen immediately for a re-check of the wavefront measurements of my eyes. After that I waited for about 45 minutes before an initial meeting with the surgeon, followed by preparation and treatment. The treatment was disconcerting but not at all painful. I have a spinal injury and use a wheelchair. I found the staff to be extremely friendly and accommodating, but the equipment was not disabled friendly at all. It was not an easy process doing the numerous tests and scans. Although the technology itself is amazing, I wish I'd thought more carefully about it before having it done. I've only ever heard great things about it, so it never occurred to me, nor was I told, that by correcting my short sightedness, my near vision would worsen. I had my treatment in December 2008 at Liverpool One by Mr Qazi. The surgeon is amazing, very reassuring, and all the staff in the laser room were lovely. After I had had it done, I went home and went to sleep. I had slight discomfort for a couple of days until the bandage contact lenses were taken out. Now I have better than 20/20 vision!!!! The thing I have noticed most about having my eyes done is walking around in the rain - I can normally be seen with a big grin on my face when it is raining now, as I no longer need windscreen wipers on my glasses anymore!!!!!! I had my surgery last Friday at the Harley Street branch by Jonathan Carr who talked me through the whole thing before and during I was very impressed with the staff and their attention to detail. Both the surgeon and the back-up staff made me feel at ease and answered all my questions on the day. I had relatively little pain or discomfort (take your own pain killers as soon as you go to the after-care room) and after getting home and going to sleep for a few hours I woke up with the streaming gone and pretty much perfect vision. The staff were fantastic and put me at my ease. My surgeon talked me through the procedure and also whilst undergoing the surgery. I was looked after very well and the aftercare was informative and friendly. I have had two check ups since the procedure and all is fine. My recovery has been quick and painless. I was -5 in each eye with astigmatism in both, and had worn glasses since I was 3. For the last 6 years I have worn gas permeable lenses, which left me with dry and bloodshot eyes every day. At age 21, my prescription was stable, and I had my surgery on 18th May after a lot of research and a lot of putting it off! I would say that the surgery is completely painless but quite uncomfortable. The flap creation took 20 seconds on each eye, and the changes to my prescription, 30 seconds on each eye. My surgeon was Dimitri Kazakos at Optical Express Cribbs Causeway. Its now 24hrs later and I have better then 20/20 vision from a prescription of -6.75 in both eyes with 0.25 astigmatism. Staff were great. Procedure had 2 lasers, one for the flap and once to burn off the cornea. Creating the flap really hurt even with anesthetic drops but only lasted about 30 seconds. They do the flaps on each eye first then the sight correction. The flap is cut at the top half of your eye approx a millimeter around your iris. Sight correction bit doesn't hurt at all. Only been lasered today-eyes really were stinging on way home, felt like I'd peeled one hundred onions!! but after a few hours sleep, I've actually been watching telly and looking at my surroundings without the aid of l contact lenses or glasses!! I have just completed my consultation in preparation of my Laser eye treatment. I only walked into the shop in Braehead for information on laser eye surgery, however before I knew it I had been introduced to Kerry who explained everything to both myself and my husband. I was very happy with her explanation of laser treatment and about the after-care offered. I was then introduced to Lisa who gave me a full eye test and before I knew it I am now looking forward to my treatment. I had my surgery just over 2 weeks ago now and what can I say....it's absolutely fantastic! I had my surgery at the Meadowhall branch and all the staff, since my first consultation there have always been brilliant - really friendly and helpful. I was so nervous on the day of my procedure, but there was absolutely nothing to be nervous about. My surgeon Dr Samuels re-assured me and answered any last minute questions I had before going in. I had my laser eye surgery at Optical Express in The Trafford Center, I was really nervous about the whole thing but I really don't know why I was now! as the surgery is completely painless, after the surgery my eyes were stringing but once I had been to sleep for a few hours that soon disappeared. I had my surgery on Saturday 21 March 2009 at the Edinburgh clinic. My surgeon was Dr Sanjay Mantry. The surgery was very quick, totally painless and not at all scary. I had done the research before had, read lots of reviews and check every site and feedback forum I could find. Only into second 24hours but already am really pleased with the results. Optical Express very profesisonal. I was absolutely bricking it before hand and nearly bottled out. The surgeon Mr Stefan Klopper was fantastic: calm, gentle. He offered me more time to think things over and made it clear that it was my decision to have the surgery. He also made the risks and complictations completely clear to me - no flannel, no sales talk, no 'pushiness'. I do not feel I can give full ratings at this stage but will reveiw as the days progress. I would feel comforted to know that my experience is not unusual and that I am not the only one experiencing this slow progress, but more importantly to know it turns out right in the end.
