Excellent service received at Optical Express in both St Albans and Cambridge where I had the treatment. The staff at Cambridge on the day of my op were really nice and very welcoming. The surgeon Stephan Klopper was excellent. The actual procedure was abit uncomfortable but considering I was in the theatre room for less than 15 mins it's over in no time. After the op and the anesethetic had worn off it was quite painful but after 3 hours sleep and some strong pain killers I felt alot better and the pain had gone. I had my procedure performed at the Newcastle clinic, by Mr Lorrimar Esselaar on the 12th December 2008 for short sight. Overall the experience with Optical Express has been fantastic, in terms of results. However there was an admin mix-up in terms of the treatment location, I was sent the wrong details and turned up to the wrong clinic. Apart from this the service has been first class. My initial checks could have been better. I was not happy with lack of privacy. In the shop, I was not warned that I was in a high risk group and would probably need treating again. I had surgery at Cribbs Causeway on 04/11/08 and all my consultations and post-ops have been at Bournemouth. The Bournemouth staff have been excellent, very helpful and informative. I was very disappointed with Cribbs Causeway as we (all the patients) were basically sat in the waiting room for 2 hours with no-one telling us what was going on. The actual surgery took about 7 minutes and was easy and painless. The results of my surgery have been incredible! On the day of the surgery I was initially a little nervous but as soon as I met with my surgeon, he and the nurses put me totally at ease. The procedure itself was not at all painful and it was over so quickly, I could see straight away - it was amazing! My first post op appointment the following day confirmed I already had better than 20/20 vision and I've not experienced any pain or discomfort. This summer I had LASIK surgery at the Optical Express on Renfield Street, Glasgow. From the initial consultation through to the surgery itself I found all the staff to be very helpful. 3 months on and all is still brilliant! I had my left eye done in Milton Keynes (Rodney Blumenfeld) on 6 June 08. My right eye was done on 25th July 08 in Newbridge, Ireland (Nafa Bader). Rodney would not risk doing both eyes at the same time, and he was right due to my massive prescription: Left eye was +4.2, -4.5 astigmatism, lazy eye and a squint! I had my treatment carried out by Lorrimer Esselaar at Optical Express in Newcastle on 4th October 2008. My prescription was (R) -1.75 with an astigmatism of -0.75 and (L) -2.25. The procedure was very quick and pain free. I was told I may have grittiness after the anaesthetic wore off but all I suffered was a sensation similar to peeling very strong onions for about an hour. I had a standard LASIK done two days ago. The results are unbelievable. My vision is better than 20/20 in both eyes. The first hour after the surgery was a bit painful but after a 3 hour nap I could see perfectly fine and the pain was gone. The next day I felt completely normal and I'm back at work today in front of a computer. No problems. I would recommend it to anyone, worth every penny. I had surgery 10 days ago. At my initial consultation I was advised that due to my astigmatism and the number of anomalies in my cornea that wavefront would be the best option for me - as this would correct my vision to better than with my glasses on - unfortunately this hasn't happened. My vision has improved, but not to the expected levels. I still have a slight prescription in both eyes & although my vision is now within the legal range to drive without glasses I feel disappointed. At my 1 week post op on Saturday my optometrist confirmed that the results weren't as good as anticipated & I may need enhancement surgery in 6 months time. Nearly one week on, so far, Brilliant! Went to Cardiff OE, staff were great. The Surgeon was: Dr Tom Materman - quiet but professional. My eyes were -6.00 and -5.50 before, and the day after surgery they were better than 20/20, I am very happy and hope they stay this good. They are a bit dry etc. but drops work fine. The surgery for me was fine, not painful at all. But, everyone is different. It is a big decision to make, and personally, I was glad that I read all the good and bad points people had written and I decided from there. I have a scar tissue on my right eye back in 2003 they were unable to do surgery. Now in 2008 with advanced technology they were able to do Lasek wave front with out interfering with the scar tissue. Consultant Trevor Pilley was excellent and gave me the good news surgery was very much possible, i saw the surgeon Stefan Klopper and he confirmed 100% they could now do surgery with the latest technology with out causing any problems with the scar tissue. After 6 months I am reasonably happy. There was a period around 3 months when I was given the impression that the surgery would have to be repeated to achieve good acceptable vision. I have now realised that the problem was more to do with my expectations than the results of the surgery. I was promised good distance vision but told that reading would need simple glasses and that has been achieved. My distant vision is not perfect but I suspect it was not perfect when I wore glasses. When I arrived at my initial consultation I was greeted by the store manager, Ross and he introduced me to the counsellor that would be looking after me. I had treatment 3 months ago and it has been the est thing i have ever done. My vision is the best it ever has been I've gone from +3.75 right and left to having 20/20 vision. On my follow up appointment my vision was already better than 20/20! I was very nervous in waiting room, but i was put at ease with seeing people come out still being able to see!! I have lasik at OE in Bluewater yesterday morning and I can't believe I'm sitting in front of my computer typing this without glasses today. The staff at Bluewater were great. They talked me through everything. I can't believe how pain free the whole thing was. I have better sight in my right eye than my left but that I'm sure will improve with time as it is very bloodshot at present. 5/5, what more can you say. I had the procedure done on Sat 2nd August. So that's just a few days ago. The procedure itself was completely pain free, ok so there was a little discomfort when clamping the eyes open and applying the device for cutting the flap. But that wasn't anything to worry about. Hazey for a few hours after the surgery and a little blurry. But compared to pre-op without glasses it was certainly a huge improvement. Having had the lasik eye surgery done in april. My life has changed for the better.For me it was like going from the old black and white TV to the new HD quality. 11 weeks since surgery at Meadowhall. Had read lots of reviews before treatment so was feeling very relaxed about it.Hardly anyone mentions the treatment as being anything more than uncomfortable (at the very worst). It was a doddle. Very soon after treatment the stinging and streaming eyes began so home to bed for a few hours and a quiet night. The next morning my vision was less than 20/20 but still wonderful by my standards. It's 10 weeks now since I had my eyes lasered. Initial consultation at Meadowhall, Sheffield was fine, sorted out the date for treatment which couldn't have been better. I guess by the time I had surgery (also at Meadowhall) I had read so many reviews that I felt totally relaxed about the whole thing, it's a rare review that mentions anything other than slight discomfort during treatment so I knew that wouldn't be a problem. I went to Optical Express to get my surgery done as they had been highly recommended by a friend. I was quite nervous about the surgery as i did not know what to expect but all members of staff, including the surgeon were very nice, they put me at ease and explained the whole procedure in detail to me. What's the point in living if you don't feel alive? Being only 18 many people (including my mum, dad and previous opticians) thought that I shouldn't get the surgery done at such a young age. To be honest, I was in two minds about the surgery, what if the whole thing goes wrong?! But I couldn't do many of the things I wanted to: go swimming, dance all night or stay up all night in London without worrying about vision! Very impressed with the few seconds it actually took to complete the operation, unbelievable. Did experience intense stinging after the operation but this literally lasted a couple of hours and after that I had perfect 20 20 vision and no discomfort at all and over a month later I can honestly say that the recovery took 3 hours and ever since I have had 20 20 vision. I kept up with my eye drops and I have had nothing to complain about at all. It has made a massive difference and I have to say more than i expected. I just wish I had had this done years ago. I had my surgery carried out at the Birmingham City Centre branch on 6/6/08 which was 4 weeks after my initial assessment. The décor and facilities are very clean and modern and all the shop floor staff / receptionists are very pleasant and friendly. On the day of my initial assessment I received a text reminder of my appointment time and was seen within 15mins of my appointment time on arrival. The 1st session was with a 'counsellor' , then a whole raft of tests with the opthamologist. Went to the clinic in Sheffield Medowhall and things didn’t seem right from the start. They mixed my appointments with others and during the consultation he realized they had the wrong patient records in front of him. Advised me on Lasik and was booked at Nottingham clinic for surgery, however when arrived they had mixed up the appointments I was informed and they were unable to do the surgery. I was disappointed and went to Ultralase same day and they did an examination and said that I was not even suitable for LASIK as I had very dry eyes and thin cornea and were surprised that this was not picked by Optical express. Had my Surgery on 14/06/08, only a few day ago and I'm really happy with the results so far but my eyes are to settle over the next few weeks, I found the whole experience OK actually wasn't nervous and was talked through everything, worst thing i can say is that i wasn't seen until an hour after my appointment time but who really cares not like you can do much after having it done. Excellant service. I had a very low prescription 0.50 in right eye and 1.00 in left. The charges are worked out on a scale depending on prescription strength so mine were on the cheapest end. The consulatation was great and I booked for surgery there and then. I had to wait 6 weeks for a Friday slot and every day my glasses seemed a huge burden! Having worn soft contact lenses for 8 years, I've experienced all the inconveniences and discomforts that come with them; from drying out and popping out to getting stuck at the back of my eyes. I had always thought about getting laser surgery one day in the future but never got round to doing anything about it. Until recently that is! I would definitely recommend this procedure to anyone. I was very nervous and apprehensive before my treatment and this was mainly because I was unsure of exactly what was going to happen. I knew roughly what the treatment would involve but it was the actual process of doing the treatment that scared me, however I can safely say it was painless, quick and very easy to go through. It lasted probably no more than 5 minutes and the after-care was excellent. I can highly recommend Optical Express for this treatment. I had my treatment carried out by Tom Matermann at the Cardiff branch. My vision just 24 hours after the procedure was better than 20:20 (could read the bottom line of the chart!) and now 7 days on seems better than it ever did with contacts or spectacles. I have no prescription in the right eye and 0.25 in the left which may improve yet as it is early days post op. Wish I did this years ago. Got the procedure done 1 week ago. Could see clearly 24 hours later. The contact lens bandage stayed in for 5 days. I experienced no pain during or after the surgery., only the feeling you get when your conact lenses have been in for too long. The eye drps provided helped with this. As soon as the contact bandage came out ive felt no dryness at all. The staff at the Silverburn branch of Optical Express have been fantastc from the first consultation and the after care has been superb. It was a small price to pay to have perfect vision without having the inconvience of glasses and contacts. It was a very quick procedure and didn't hurt. I took a couple of paracetamol a couple of hours after the surgery as my eyes were feeling slightly uncomfortable. The following day I really did feel back to normal. I had my procedure at Optical Express in Milton Keynes and can recommend them wholeheartedly (provided you are satisfied and comfortable with the risks). All the staff have been wonderful, particularly Trevor (optometrist) and my surgeon Mr. Stefan Klopper. Initial consultation was carried out in Inverness but I had the procedure performed in Glasgow as the Inverness laser wasn't working that day but Optical Express paid for us all to go to Glasgow and be treated and stay overnight in a hotel. Although initially I was worried, Optical Express showed fantastic customer service and this put me at ease. The best thing about this is my being able to drive with ordinary sunglasses again! Everyone at Optical Express was very professional and friendly. I had my surgery in Leeds, though my consultations were in Meadowhall, Sheffield. On the day of surgery, everyone put me at ease - all very calm and relaxed. I was in surgery for literally 10 minutes... the procedure is a little uncomfortable, but completely painless. It is 2 months ago since I had my eyes lasered and the results are nothing short of a miracle. I now have perfect long distance vision and only need 1.25 glasses for prolonged reading. If I go out I don't even take glasses as I can easily cope with menus etc. even in 8 point. In terms of pain the operation was 2 out of 10 and although uncomfortable it soon passed. The next day in Cambridge whilst waiting for my day +1 check up, I read a newspaper without glasses for the first time for 15 years. The proccedure is very quick and painless. The team at Inverness are fantastic and good at holding hands! I was more aware of the second eye being treated and although slightly uncomfortable, it wasn't too bad. My vision was slightly blurry when I left the center but I could read the pringles tub on the other side of the room in the holiday inn within 5 hours!! On Saturday Morning, I had terrible short sightedness, by Saturday Evening I could almost see as good as when I wore my glasses. By today, Mondayit's even better. The aftercare so far from the Hull branch has been perfect, friendly staff, and completely professional. The whole procedure took around ten to fifteen minutes, its hard to believe a week ago I could barely see, now today, it feels like I've never had to wear glasses. I have looked through the comments but can't find anyone that states they've had their surgery done in Newcastle....please let me know if you have - what the place is like etc.. In fact I have recommended three family and friends already! I cannot recommend Optical Express and this treatment highly enough. I have worn contact lenses for 15 years (-5.50 prescription) and within a day of the procedure was at better than driving eyesight in my left eye and better than 20/20 in my right. The staff at Edinburgh (for my consultation) and after-care and Glasgow (for my surgery) were very friendly, re-assuring and professional. Had treatment on 26 March and very happy with results so far. Can see very well, enough to drive already after 48 hours. Have slight inflammation in left eye so am attending clinic daily as they want to keep a check on it. No other problems. Found the clinic to be very helpful.  More...
