I had my lasik surgery on 12/12/07 with Osama Gildi at the Shaftesbury Avenue branch just before my 26th birthday and it's now just over a week since the operation. Originally my eyesight was Right -5.0 and Left -5.5 diopters and used contact lenses to correct my shortsightedness. I could barely read a book more than 25cm away A week on I've been told I now have -0.5 in both my eyes and have better than 20/20 vision which is a vast improvement than before and I can now drive without glasses! My original prescription was fairly severe -7 in both eyes plus a slight astigmatism...basically blind as a bat without my glasses!! I had Lasek surgery in Glasgow on 17th Dec, operation performed by David Teenan. I was really nervous about the operation and had even went to the doctor a few days before to get some sedatives to calm me down!!! Had LASIK Treatment carried out in Glasgow Renfield Street on 22nd of May 2007.I have very sensitive eyes that stopped me wearing contacts after only 2-3 hours. After surgery found it impossible to keep my eyes open for the first 3 hours till I had an hours sleep(This I knew about in advance). When I got up eyes were much better and within 4 hours immediate improvement in vision. Next day better than 20/20 vision. Only down side so far is that my vision comes and goes from day to day but must admit getting better as time goes by. Slight dry eyes but again not using drops nearly as frequently as I did. The service I received was professional but friendly. All the staff who attended me were extremely helpful and were technically very able. On the day of the surgery, my eyes were measured again to ensure accuracy of data and the information double checked by the surgeon who, prior to surgery spent a lot of time going over the procedures. wavefront lasik with intralase:surgeon Mr Giledi, (following morning better than 20/20). I have just had my consultation and have been recommended for Lasik treatment. I have a fairly light prescription and the cost quoted is £395 per eye for standard or £995 per eye for Wavefront. Obviously quite a difference and I am in two minds which option to take, any suggestions? Is the extra cost worthwhile? Also an extra £300 per eye for Intralase. Not sure what to do. The op will take place in Bristol. My main concern, however, is the fact that my near vision is very good at present, I'm in my mid 40's, and I am worried that this may be affected by the surgery. Hi everyone, I had my consultation at Optical Express in Bristol and am due to have my treatment on Friday 14th December. So far the clinic have been excellent. The staff are very professional and caring and even took me to see the operating room etc on Thursday when I went in to arrange payment. Everything they have said as put my at ease. Had Lasik Surgery on the 23/11/07 at the Reading Optical Express branch. Been 2 days since and my vision is great. I now have 20/20 vison in my right eye and 20/16 in my left and told they will still improve. My prescription before surgery was -4 in right eye and -3.75 in left eye. The surgery went really well and i was advised on what was happening, it was only slightly uncomfortable and went by in a flash. I do have slight inflammation in my left eye which i have been told is common in my left eye but have no pain at all. Very unusual sensation but pain free. minor irritation afterwards - like feeling tired. had twenty twenty or better in both eyes within 24 hours. amazing. best thing you could do if you wear glasses. took a couple of weeks for redness to go away but now eyes look perfect and feel perfect.  More...

I'm 20 and i went for my free consultation two days ao in Belfast. However, they had to stop it half way through as i was so nervous i felt faint and very sick and everytime i felt better and they started again the sickness came back. From the tests that they did they could tell me that i need Lasik Wavefront with Interlase. I REALLY REALLY want to get this surgery done but i'm terrified i start feeling sick again in the middle of surgery as this could cause major problems. Can anyone help calm my nerves? I had laser eye surgey using intralase and wavefront 5 weeks ago. I had some minor problems with inflammation in the left eye which resolved after about 3 weeks. The staff at Norwich were excellent and very supportive. The procedure itself was very quick and mildly uncomfortable. Afterwards it was extremely uncomfortable for about 3 hours but got better and better as the day went on. No discomfort the following day and the blurryness gradually resolved after a few days. I can see perfectly now, it's absolutely amazing, they told me it's rare for someone to have zero readings which I now have. Had my surgery on 19/10/07 with Mr George at Birmingham. I was petrified before the surgery, but there was nothing to worry about - it didn't hurt a bit. The staff were excellent - explained everything about the procedure and reassured me throughout. My vision is still a bit misty, and the left eye is much better than the right. I had lasik wavefront with Interlase done a month ago now. Best Thing I've done so far. It's great to get up in the morning and see without glasses. All the team at Optical Express High Street Dundee are very helpful and look after you very well,right from the very start. I went in to ask about the procedure, went into depth with what was undertaken. Also went in for Assessment to see if i was viable to have it done (99% of people are). A couple of weeks later, i went in to have it done on one eye. I was a quivering wreck. Within 20 minutes i had it done, and i was walking out the surgery with my dark glasses on. absolutley painless!!!! Day 4 yesterday. Vision slightly better than day 3, but left much better than right. Haziness still persists. Evening/night is not great as discomfort increases [mainly dryness discomfort] and vision worsens specially with blurriness. I had my surgery - intralase wavefront LASIK on Saturday [29/9]. Procedure: I was stressed prior to it, hence could not focus on the red beam for my first[right] eye. left was fine. Intralase for the flap was uneventful. I was concerned at the end of the procedure whether my right eye was treated completely. Day 1 - went for check up. I could see clearly with both eyes open, but vision was excellent in the left eye, and blurred/hazy/not too clear in the right. I had surgery at milton keynes in June 2007, 3 months later and i have better than 20/20 vision. This was probably the scariest thing i have ever done equalled with the best! No more specs no more contact lenses i think 2 words sum this experience up: LIFE CHANGING! The staff at Optical Express in Milton Keynes were great, although there was a very long wait on the day of surgery so make sure you take a good mag or book!. Staff PR needs working on, for example, whilst waiting for surgery in a room full of other nervous customers (for nearly 3 hours) the laser technician was talking on the phone in front of us all discussing problems they'd had with some of the laser settings! Apart from the excessive waiting around before hand, the service was great. I had watery, light-sensitive, uncomfortable eyes for about 3 hours after surgery but that was it, then I could see clearly! I still can't quite believe how well I can see and go to remove my glasses when I stop the car - but I'm not wearing them! I have been told that my cornea's are thin and the shapes are not suitable for lasik, but they can offer me lasek. I have booked to have this procedure carried out in October with wavefront. Can anyone give me any advice on this as most people seem to have lasik.  More...

WOW! I know everyone else is saying WOW on here but it really is. I had my sugery at 4pm on Friday 17th August 2007 in Leeds; I was at home by 5:30pm with great vision. I had my post op check at 9:40 Saturday morning and the optician couldnt believe I didnt have any discomfort at all and my vision was better than 20/20. I could see the bottom line on the charts perfectly. On my way to the check I was sat at the back of the bus and was able to read the timetable right at the front - AMAZING! The proceedure doesnt hurt at all it's just a weird experience; it took less than 1 minute per eye! I had my surgery on monday at 3 pm. Their was no pain at all, my whole procedure was explained to me prior to anthing happening. The whole procedure took ten minutes and I felt nothing. Everyone here has been so helpfull explaing everything, making me feel relaxed and completly at ease. It was not nerve wracking or stressfull at all. Now I have 20/20 and can throw away my glasses, which i wore full time. It was so wonderfull. I had Lasik Wavefront on 13/07/07 with Mr George,who was very skilled and reassuring.The whole experience was fantastic.Clean,professional,efficientand friendly. The surgery itself was a strange experience but not at all uncomfortable. For the first few hours afterwards,my eyes felt gritty and watered continually,but were never painful. I am extremely pleased at the whole experience. I went in for my first consultation 2 years ago but at the time I was not suitable for treatment due to the size of my pupils (they are larger than average which would’ve caused night-glare if I’d had the operation at the time). But 2 years later I went back and due an advance in technology and a new procedure called “Wavefront” I was able to have this operation in both my eyes. I Couldn't believe that I woke up 6 hours later with most of my vision back and able to see my clock, which I could not do before without glasses! Lasik Intralase Wavefront 10 August 2007 It would be wrong to claim the procedure was fun - but I didn't find it to be much worse than a trip to the dentist. 16 hours since I was zapped and I've just been told my vision is better than 20/20. Apparently there is a little inflammation in one ey, but I'm not really in any discomfort. I'm overjoyed, if my eyes were capable of producing tears, I'd probably shed one. Fantastic - Thank you. Just been for consultation in Birmingham. Staff were very nice and only thing I was slightly suspicious of is that when I was looking at the patient comment books, the current one was only started in July. When I asked about the previous one I was told it had 'gone missing'!! In reply to Angela Beales I gather the 'suction' is the method of removing the flap of cornea prior to performing the actual procedure. Can anyone who has had it done comment on exactly how uncomfortable the procedure is???  More...

Hi I am just looking for advice here really. I am booked in for wavefront with intralase in 3 weeks time, but I have been told I am on the borderline as to whether I can get it done or not so my surgeon has left the decision with me. She said my eyes measure 48.25 on some scale or other, where the recommended limit of treatment is 48. She said although this is a very small bit over, she still must warn me that it may not go as well as I'd hoped. She said getting treatment cannot make my eyes worse, but I could get dry eyes, longer healing periods and may need a second treatment. I am just wondering if anyone has been told this too? The surgery staff at Leeds were great and so too were the Shipley staff(where i had my consultation & after care)! They made me feel at ease and looked after me well. The surgeon, Mr K Khan was brilliant, very efficient and has done a fantastic job. I would recomend it to anyone and everyone. From arriving for a consultation service was 100%. Everyone instore was amazing! The surgery was slightly uncomfortable, but everyone was was supportive & talked me through the whole process - it was so quick!! The whole whole procedure was nothing like i imagined - I joked with other patients afterwards "It's like popping out to get your hair cut!" I had laser vision correction two weeks and I am amazed at the results. I can now see better than 20/20 in both eyes. I had my consultation at the Edinburgh George Street branch of Optical Express and My laser counsellor Graham was first class and the laser optometrist Sinead was brilliant. Couldn't have faulted anyone. On the day of surgery I was told to allow 2-3 hours for the surgery to be carried out, but I was out in an hour and half. My surgeon was David Teenan, himself and the surgery team were fantastic and constantly reassured me as I was quite nervous. I had my surgery done in Manchester, Barlow house. My prescription was very high and i thought that i wouldn't be able to have it done, but i was delighted when i was told by the really helpful optometrist, Christopher Price that I was suitable. Surgery: Inverness on 23/08/07 No pain!! Consultation went well and the service was excellent. Surgery was extremely painless and the surgeon and her staff were lovely and put me at ease. I could see more or less straightaway, and after an hour of watery eyes and a little stinging I could see number plates and road signs. By the afternoon everything was crystal clear. My vision is now better than 20/20! Should of done this years ago!!  More...

Hi, I am just looking for some advice. I am really quite scared about getting this procedure done, especially the creation of the flap. I have heard from a few people that the drops they put in your eye mean you can barely see anything, but others have said this is not true. I am looking for feedback on this from people's experience. I had lasik wavefront surgery at Bristol on 23rd July. I am 60 years old, had -6 and -8 prescription, have worn glasses for 50 years and have very dry eyes. I also had astigmatism in one eye. I am now still struggling with distance vision. I have reasonable nearsight, which is a GREAT improvement to what I could see without glasses before, but all past a few feet away is blurred, slightly out of focus and a bit like double vision. I have been assured that the surgery was a success, I am no longer short-sighted and it is the above factors, mainly the dryness, which is causing the slowness of recovery of the distance vision. I had lasik laser treatment on my eyes 11th May at the Cambridge branch. The staff there, Elaine especially, are extremly friendly,helpful and most of all made me feel at ease. I felt that I was treated as an individual, they always remember my name and who I am which to me is very important. The procedure was extremly quick and completly pain free and within half an hour I was eating in the pizza hut !! Results are supurb, which is a far cry for wearing my glasses from the moment I woke to the moment I went to sleep. I would strongly recommend this surgery, I felt very apprehensive as your sight is precious but the surgeon is first class. Go on what are you waiting for ????!!!!  More...

This was a scary procedure but over in 10 minutes. Take care of your new eyes afterward an you will be fine. It is one of the best things I have ever done. So much more freedom. I do not have to hide behild my glasses anymore. Everyone can see me now and I can see them too!  More...

I had lasik with intralase last thursday at bluewater, the staff were excellent especially the surgeon Wayne Crewe Brown, he put me at ease straight away and talked to me all through the procedure which it's self was unpleasant but not painful the worst thing was the pressure on my eyes and the loss of sight when the flap was lifted but i was re-assured all the way through. Mr Crewe Brown even came to the recovery room to tell my husband what a good patient i'd been and what a brave lady I was!!! i am very pleased with the results, at my 24hr check up i had some mild inflammation for which i had an extra appointment yesterday, this has now clearded up and my eyes feel good after seve ...  More...

WOW- Had lasik wavefront with intralase at Glasgow branch yesterday. What can I say!! AMAZING,SHOULD HAVE DONE IT YEARS AGO. I was VERY nervous but the procedure was plain sailing. No pain, even the suction was not really what I expected it to be. It was over in 10 minutes. Not even 24 hrs have past yet and I can see brilliant!
