I was the most nervous patient for laser eye surgery that you will meet, but I decided to go through with it, and now have better than 20/20 vision! I would not hesitate to recommend Laservision in Harley Street. Everybody I have met there has been so helpful and friendly, and they take all the time that you need to answer your questions. Mr Williams was not at all grumpy (like I have seen other people mention on this site) but very professional and reassuring while he was operating. It is a difficult decision to make to have the surgery, but the people at Laservision did all they could to help make my decision as informed as possible and have really looked after me (and my nerves!) befor ...  More...

I would definitely encourage anybody thinking about laser treatment to go ahead with it. I am really pleased with my results. I have gone from -6.50 to -0.25 which is fantastic. Mr Aziz and all the staff at Manchester are great. I was a little negative early on in the year but following my enhancements I can honestly say I have no regrets. Feel free to email me if you wish.  More...

I had Lasik in both eyes on 2 October at the Shaftesbury Avenue Clinic. Prof Mortimer was the surgeon. My prescription had been -3 and -3.25. It's difficult to give an overall rating. In terms of the procedure and the results, I would definitely give five stars. I now have 20-20 vision and am delighted. But the service from the clinic was mixed. After a Iot of research, I first arranged to have treatment at the clinic in August. At the final stage of the consultation, I was asked "why aren't you having wavefront - it's much safer". This was the first time wavefront had been mentioned. So I decided to postpone the treatment until I could have the wavefront (to their credit, they ag ...  More...

I had Lasik on 02/10/03 (2 days ago) and am absolutely delighted with the whole experience and outcome. I'm at work at the moment with better than 20/20 vision. My prescription was -9 in the left eye and -6 in the right and I have worn glasses and contacts since the age of 11, I'm now 29. Professor Mortimer performed my surgery, at the Shaftsbury avenue clinic and he was excellent. He was obviously very experienced in his field and explained realistic expectations and disscussed possible side-effects and potential problems without being frightening, in fact I felt very reassured after speaking to him.I was nervous about the proceedure because I was found to have larger pupils, which increase ...  More...

Had the wavefront procedure in London on 18th August. Professor Clive Mortimer carried it out - a really nice guy. Had a chance to talk to him for 15 minutes or so as we had to wait for the room temperature to come down to be back in the laser's operating range. It was hot outside! Everything went well. Absolutely no pain whatsoever. Had the op at 2pm & was watching "Calamity Jane" in the Shaftesbury Theatre that evening - that's how well it went! One month check-up shows everything to be fine & healing has gone well. Vision isn't 20/20, but still pretty good. I would have rated the Eye Clinic as "very good" but front-desk staff aren't as good as those that take care of you for ...  More...

I had Lasik surgery in both eyes on 3rd September in the Milton Keynes Eye Clinic. The actual surgery itself wasn't too bad - no pain whatsoever. In fact the hardest thing for me was looking at the little red spot because the white light around it was just a bit too bright for me to be able to do it comfortably. Unfortunately during the surgery some fibres found their way under the flaps on my eyes. This meant I had to go back and have the flaps lifted so they could be removed. Again this wasn't too bad (the bright light being the only issue). Because of these problems I have been suffering from some inflammation (DLK or 'Sands of the Sahara') but that doesn't hurt and has been c ...  More...

I had Lasek (shaftsbury avenue) on on the 7th of August and today (3 weeks later) I have better than 20/20 vision with non of the side effects that the surgeons said I might get. Least to say that I'm very happy with the end results although I have to say that I wasn't expecting the amount of pain that I went through just after the op to be as much as it was. However this was only for a couple of hours and although the contacts they give you just after the op are uncomfortable they are taken out a few days later. When weighing up the odds its more than worth it.  More...

Yesterday, I attended the eye clinic in Southampton to undergo lasik. It is something I have been thinking about for quite some time, but was always put off by some bad publicity. As I work in an opticians, most of the professionals I have spoken to about it were never very keen on the idea. As I have worn glasses since the age of two and relied solely on my specs (prescription -5.75 with a -2.50 cyl) it was going to be by no means easy to correct the short sightedness let alone the astignatism. Everyone at the clinic were very helpful and put you at ease. Luckily, didn;t have to wait long. Professional Clive Mortimer was the surgeon and after a chat with him he put me totally at ease ...  More...

I'm one year on from my Lasik procedure which was done at the Reading branch in August 2002. I've been very happy with the results. My daytime vision has been excellent, it's as near to perfect as I imagine. Nightime vision isn't quite as good but still well within acceptable limits. The real bonus is my close vision, before surgery I was told I would need to wear reading glasses post-op. This came as no suprise as I had to do this when I wore contac lenses. After a couple of days I noticed I was not wearing them any more! No complaints here. The dryness problem (which never was excessive anyway) disappeared after a few months.  More...

My experience was the cup slipped and only made a half flap so they could not finish the surgery. I had the other eye done the next day and plan to have the right eye done again soon. I have not seen anything where this has happened to anyone else but would love hearing from a clinic or anyone that might could tell me just how common this is and the liklihood of it happening again. Had my assessment at the Eye Clinic at Southampton and am suitable for surgery. Have slighter larger pupils than normal at 7mm, and also thinner corneas. Have been recommended Lasek instead of Lasik. Can't seem to find anyone that's had this done at Southampton. Am currently deciding whether to have it done or not. Nervous of night-glare & possible complications outweighing indisputable benefits. Anyone who's had Lasek done here please help me decide! Thanks  More...

I'm French and I heard to the radio about Maxivision what is now Eye Clinic.I did it at Birmingham, they have a new laser with tracer. I took my first appointement the May 27th and I was suitable for the lasik. It was great. My treatment was June 18th, it was very nice, They are very kind and would like to say thank you to the Surgeon Dr Kantilal Jain and assistants Jo and Sabrina. I have any regrets and for me it's like a miracle to see everthing. My sight was -5.25 each eye and -1 astigmatism et the day after the treatment it was 20/20 or 6/6. My month appointement will be next monday and I hope that my sight will be the same.  More...

I have been to the Southampton branch twice now for an initial assessment and then to see if my eyes have settled down enough to have laser treatment. I am seeing Mr Jain, the Southampton branch surgeon, next week to discuss the surgery as my corneas are only just thick enough apparently. Has anyone had him as their surgeon and if so, what is he like/how were your results? I am flying back from my home in Dubai to have it done so am a bit nervous and want to make sure it is okay. There don't seem to be many postings about treatment at Southampton!  More...

Please see previous comments dated 10th May 2003 relating to MaxiVision. I have now had my 3 month check and for this I went to The Eye Clinic in Birmingham which was my first visit there. I was a bit apprehensive as I had been used to going to a local optician for my aftercare but since the takeover by Optical Express the aftercare locations are now different I had no need to worry - The staff at the Eye Clinic were super. My eyes are now very close to 20/20 which is fantastic. My eyes are still on the dry side so just need to keep on using the drops four times a day. I am so pleased I had the op - my confidence has improved as has my quality of life as a result.  More...

Had my eyes done - finally but that delay due to the Maxivision fiasco not Eye Clinic - Fri 30th May. Yesterday had my wk check up - am 20/20 with potential to be better (eyes seeing 3 lines below 20/20 but at moment not firm focusing). My old vision was 5.75 and 6 shortsighted so very happy. Surgery was strange but not painful and I did not need relaxant as sooo releived to finally get there to have them done - third time lucky.Afterwards eyes watered like crazy and was light sensitive - take sunglasses/cap to shield eyes but not tiny glasses as they need to go over your eyeshields but no pain or grittyness once anesthic drops wore off. Went to sleep as advised and vision much improved and ...  More...

Had my enhancement on 30 May at Manchester and it was a lot more pleasurable than first time because i took the valium and felt far more relaxed. Staff were as lovely and caring as ever during the actual procedure which didnt take long as i only had the left eye done. Went for 1 week check up today and it is doing fine. The right eye enhancement will have to be done in a month as there is a slight prescription there, and it is below the legal driving limit. The only moan I have is having to travel from Liverpool to Manchester 3 times in the last week but The Eye Clinic are now training up staff for the Liverpool clinic which will be much easier for me to get too. I had my Lasik treatment in April in London. The surgeon and nurses were very professional and personal. They ensured I was 'comfortable' each step of the way. I was offered the choice of taking the valium tablet before hand which I did; consequently, I was relaxed during the operation but able to concentrate so that I hardly moved my eyes. The surgeon said it went very well. (During the op it is best for you and the surgeon if you relax, don't be too nervous and don't move your eyes!) Strangely, I found the smell from the laser (though quite normal) the most disconcerting. My eyes were not so sore or red afterwards but I believe that just depends on the individual; I was lucky. Now, I ...  More...

Had my surgery on Friday 16 May 2003 at the Shaftesbury avenue branch. My prescription in my right eye (the one I had done) was -5.25 before surgery and +0.25 after my third check up on Thursday 22 May 2003. I am very pleased with the results and the staff and surgeon were very attentive. The waiting time is very long though and you have to be prepared to be there for at least half a day! This is to ensure that they check all the equipment thoroughly before each patient. A word of warning though, if you prescriptions are very different in each eye and you are going to do both eyes at some stage, but not together on the same day, be aware that you may experience double vision, which I wa ...  More...

Received a letter from the company that purchased Maxivision in administration. It stated that they had no obligation to but have decided to pay amounts owed by Maxivision and that I would shortly receive monies due to me by Maxivision (£75 referral fee). I hope this means some of the other postings out a serious amount of money soon get repaid.  More...

I have had a brochure from Maxivision for some time now and heard they had been taken over. I called to find out what was going on, but was pleasantly surprised to find that it has basically made them part of a much larger company. I live in Glasgow and instead of having to travel to Manchester, which was my main concern, I can have the surgery in Glasgow. It was my freind who originally recommended me and she is still having aftercare treatment. Although she has had to move location for her aftercare the eye clinic she has visited is superb and the aftercare fantastic. She was concerned at first about moving to a different optician but has found everything to be superb.  More...

I too have just visited an eye clinic for my aftercare but can't conmplain. Their facilities are excellent and although I have had to travel a little further I felt totally at ease with the Optician I saw. I can imagine some people being upset if it is alot further, but I think it is worth it. I think the fact I can see perfectly without my contacts is the best feeling I have had. A few extra miles for aftercare, which isn't that often is worth it for not wearing contacts anymore.  More...

I finally got my surgery in Manchester on 8th May which meant a 4 hour drive and overnight stay. I took the decision to make the journey as Maxivision couldn't guarantee when a London clinic would be available. I honestly didn't want to go through the trials of trying to get my money refunded which also sounded highly unlikely. The op went very well - Mr Aziz and I'm now back at work without glasses! My eyes are very dry but getting better. The follow up check with the Eye Clinic was good - they seemed very professional and knew all about the Maxivision problems. All my paperwork for the op were from Maxivision although there were also logos on some of it for the Eye Clinic and Optical ...  More...

I had Lasek at Manchester a month ago, from reading the the latest comments sounds like I just missed all the problems. I have had to change opticians for my follow up appointments, luckily for me there is an Eye Clinic close to my place of work. As for the surgery itself, I would like to reassure anyone worried about Lasek. I was extremely nervous (take the valium, it helped me) the surgery was completely painless. I did have some discomfort after and my eyes have taken about a month to settle completely. My vision is now -0.5 in both eyes, I was -2. I don't need glasses anymore which is what I wanted! I thought Maxivision was good, the staff were friendly I don't really have any major ...  More...

After much deliberation, research and recommendation from a friend I opted for MaxiVision in Manchester. I had surgery in February 2003 with Mr Aziz. I found the actual procedure very distressing but nurses etc were great, and the results are fantastic (my right eye is better than the left) and although I had a few initial problems I have no regrets. Two weeks after surgery I experienced extreme 'dry eye' to the extent that I had plugs inserted to my tear ducts, and I also had a reaction to the preservative in the eye drops. I now use preservative free drops which were initially provided by MaxiVision on request. Now I buy Allergan from the chemist. I live in Coventry, West Midla ...  More...

Maxivision - I have been through the 'burst water pipe' scenario and the 'taken over by Optical Express' scenario. I was told on Friday that there was nothing to worry about and confirmed my new surgery date for this Thursday. I called today and am now told there are no gaurantees and it's 'highly unlikely' my surgery will now go ahead. When I asked about cancellation I was informed that I would not get my money back as I paid Maxivision and they no longer exist . I am now stuck in limbo wondering whether I am ever going to get my surgery or indeed a refund if not.  More...

As a satellite clinic for Maxivision in Leicester, we have been dealt with very indiscriminately over the financial fiasco recently. We have been performing consultations for over 16 months and my only bugbear has been the failure of accounts to pay up on time. Perhaps the writing was on the wall as far back as December 2002 when staff initiated the start of many high profile resignations within the company. DCM holdings, the company taking over Maxivision have stated they will NOT be liable for any debts. Indeed, a vast sum is owed to myself and many other practices I have spoken to. They failed in their basic rights of courtesy to inform any of the practices personally of the ongoing s ...  More...

UPDATE spoke to June @ Optical Express - Maxivision's new owners and were told some interesting facts. Maxivision went into administration Friday morning 25/4 due to financial problems - so burst pipes at London conincidence or fable - I think the later esp with the info later. Late Friday early Sat Optical Express bought them from the administrators. They are now on a factfinding mission led ably by June to find out the status with current and expectant clients...basically if you have had the surgery cancelled wait for an offer via Eye Clinic or Optical Express - if you go elsewhere you may have a long battle getting any money out of the company that was Maxivision and or administr ...  More...

Its now almost 6 months since i had the op. My eyes are perfect, can see everything i could with aided vision! its amazing how many people now i have had the op and were scepitcal to start with are now considering or having the op themselves. I cannot thank maixvision enough. one small point and i dont wish to piss too many people off but if your in no rush to have the op, make some enquiries with maxivision, get on there mailing list and see what offers they come up with over a period of time. Last december i had both eyes operated on for less than £1000 total. i believe they do regular offers in quiet periods (summer and particularly close to christmas). best wishes to anyone having t ...  More...

Un-confirmed reports would seem to indicate that Maxivision have been sold to Optical Express (described as a Scottish optician with an eye for acquisitions). Both companies declined to comment on the news. However one said that a press release was expected on Friday 2nd April... At this stage there is no reason to believe that existing patients have any reason to worry.  More...

I had lasik done on 2 April at the Maxivision clinic in London and have been very pleased with the results. The procedure itself was not painful at all (the sedative is a good idea!), I only experienced some stinging in my eyes during the evening after the surgery - the following day was fine. Maxivision staff are very helpful and answer any questions you may have. Have just had my one week check up and was reassured to be told everything is fine. Up until then I was worried that something could have gone wrong but now I am feeling more relaxed about it. I wish Maxivision had a local clinic where I could get my check ups done on the Isle of Wight as the travelling is a pain (and expensive) b ...  More...

I had lasik on Thursday 10th April in Manchester with Mr Aziz. I was long sighted with some astigmatism. Before the surgery, I was using monovision contact lenses so that I could see both into the distance and read. My lenses were +5 and + 3.5.... so you'll realise that my eyesight wasn't too good! Today is Monday 14th and I am sitting at my friend's computer - no glasses - and my 1 week check up is days away! Apparently when you are long sighted, your vision improves for up to a couple of weeks - can't imagine it could get any better than this. Delighted? Ecstatic! I was concerned about having the surgery, as I have been 'reading round it' for almost a year and read about both good ...  More...

I had Lasik surgery performed a few weeks ago and am very happy with the results! The only thing that I found odd, was the fact that my direct debit had been refused over a silly reason like the company I work for is not registered with a specific telecommunications company. I am actually the sweetheart of all credit card company's and have never been refused before......regardless I was so excited to have the surgery that I paid for it up front without giving it another thought. Now a few of my friends I have recommended it to, seem to be having the similar referals regarding the interest free direct debits and it has just made me a little bit suspicious.  More...

I went to Maxivision and was suitable (luckily as I had my heart set on it) and booked for treatment in Manchester. I was so impressed with the surgery centre. Unfortunately I have had to put off my plans for a while, but if anyone is unsure, just go along for a consultation and I am sure you will change your mind. Enquired about the surgery by calling the 0800 number. Spoke to a lovely lady who really put me at ease. I think her name was Mary. She told me all about the procedures and answered any questions I had with efficiency! I have yet to decide whether to proceed with the surgery but Mary has put my mind at ease. If I do proceed with the surgery I will go with Maxivision. I have not had a consultation yet but am I thinking about it, At the moment I am very nervous and having read some of the comments on here about getting money back afterwards, has made me unsure. But if the staff are friendly like Mary then I don't think I'll have a problem. I will keep you posted as to whether or not I have ...  More...

Had LASEK surgery at London Clinic on Nov 6th 2002, and when I had my last check-up (at 3 months), I was discharged !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My vision is excellent. I can read bottom line of chart unaided, with each eye. I was -5 in right eye and -4.75 in left eye (plus astigmatism in both). I only had discomfort really for first 4 days (back to work after a week). Several weeks afterwards, my right eye became very dry, and I just changed eye drops which did the trick. Now all is well - no halos, starbursts, blurred vision - NOTHING ! The staff were great (everyone, from optician who initially checked me, the councillor, and the staff and Surgeon in London - Dr S Boytha - hope I've sp ...  More...

I had LASIK surgery on 26.3.03 at Newcastle Eye Clinic & am extremely impressed with the result. The surgeon was Rodney Eve. The only negative comment pre surgery is that after having an initial appointment for 10.30am I was called & asked to go in for 8.30am with an operation time of around 9.15am, I was actually operated on at 11.00am. I was really nervous on the morning of the operation but I was given 2 valium to calm me down. The nurse that was assigned to me for the operation was lovely, she held my hand all the way through the procedure. The procedure was completely painless & over really quickly, I wasn't even aware at what point the flap was cut, the laser was on for 16 seconds ...  More...

I've just been to a consultation and was pleased that they told me I couldn't have it. A less risk-conscious company would have allowed me to pay the money and have it regardless, but they said that my eyesight wasn't bad enough (it's +2.25 long sighted) for my age (28). Apparently I've got better than 20/20 vision without my glasses anyway. I was also impressed with the staff and procedures they used for a first consultation.  More...

Really impressed!!! I had LASIK 2 days ago at Shaftesbury Ave with Clive Mortimer. I give him & the Eye Clinic 5 stars!! Not only is he a professor at the forefront of this field but as a surgeon he had a very lovely, calming character which instils in you a lot of confidence in him, and in yourself as a LASIK candidate. He really puts you at ease!!! I remember him saying pre-surgery that with my low precription (-2.75, -3.00) he expects to get it right the first time...and he did. And by getting it right it means getting the best cut (the flap), the speed and ease of manually moving the flap away, irrigation, carefully replacing the flap, as well as the actual lasering. From beginning to ...  More...

I went to the Eye Clinic in Regent Street, London for a free consultation. It was performed by an optometrtian and not a qualified surgeon. In fact I would not have mee the surgeon until the day of the operation. At first I was told I could have either PRK or LASIK (-1.75 on both eyes), but they recommended PRK. When I asked about LASEK the optometrist did not even know, what I was talking about. After the consultation I was bombared with phone calls and various mailings (at least one per week). When I told them, I rather want to have LASEK, they called me back again and said they could offer this now as well. All this did not make me feel at ease at the Eye Clinic, so I opted for LASEK ...  More...

Had my surgery on Friday 14th March at the Manchester Clinic with Dr Aziz. Staff during the surgery are excellent. Explain exactly what is happening & make you feel very relaxed about the procedure. Felt terrible on journey home. It was a very bright sunny day & even though I had on sunglasses I couldn't open my eyes fully. No one had explained this side effect to me & it was quite scary. After using the eye drops at home & sleeping for a couple of hours I woke to almost perfect vision! I was quite emotional after wearing glasses/contact lenses for over 15 years to be able to see. Had 1 day check up & my eyesight is already above the legal driving limit & should hopefully keep improving. Apa ...  More...

I had my assessment for Lasik treatment carried out at Laservision in Harley Street on the 28th Feb 2003, and after a long afternoon of extensive tests I was informed that I would be suitable for Lasik surgery. Although understandably apprehensive regarding surgery, I booked treatment for the following Monday 3rd March 2003 with Mr. Keith Williams who has treated many celebrities successfully. The surgery went well on the Monday morning, and I have nothing but praise for Mr. Keith Williams expertise & professional manner, as well as the staff. Within 20mins of the surgery, I could tell that the operation had gone well, and by the next day, following the check up, Mr Williams advised that I h ...  More...

I can highly recommend LaserVision as being extremely professional and their staff very informative. Mr Williams was excellent his main concern being your eyes, not pleasantries, which was fine by me. The treatment was a little uncomfortable but certainly not painful. Ten weeks post op and having followed the aftercare regime exactly as instructed, I am happy to report not a single complication and perfect vision after being –4.75 –5.25 with astigmatism for over 20 years. It’s a miracle.  More...

Booked in for my enhancement today, for end of May! Argh, scared! My eyes are now only -1.25 in both eyes so fingers crossed they will be perfect after the surgery. Not bad considering my eyesight was -6.50 and i was blind as a bat! I am going to ask the surgeon if I can have plugs in the next day on my first check up to help with any dryness as I really suffered last time but as soon as they put them in a week later it really helped. Aftercare has been really good.  More...

Extremely disappointing consultation. Had no real problem with the ophthalmologist although he would answer no questions, telling me that consultant would answer them and also he forgot to dilate my pupils and then went to lunch. My "consultant" Stephen was no more than a poor salesman. He rushed through a pre-prepared form and did not answer my questions apart from to repeat the form. He said he could not give me an answer as to whether I would be a suitable candidate but that would be in touch within 3 days to let me know what the surgeon had decided. I also asked for and was promised a copy of the CV of the surgeon who would be performing the surgery and details of complication rates ...  More...

Hi Everyone. I am going to the Eye Clinic in Southampton this Monday just to chat and see if it's possible to get the Laser done. My friend Fiona (who left comments further up the page) had hers done recently so it was great to speak with someone that has had it done, so i feel better about it. I can't help thinnking though that i might be the unlucky one if i get it done. Fiona looks great, and i am more confident with it since reading all these comments. I will keep you posted if i get it done. Take care.  More...

Paid all money yet Friday 21/2 had a call looking to reschedule app due tp surgeon being unavailable- when pressed it chged from trying to get another surgeon to all surgeons at American conference - as the comments on websties do seem to rec not going straight back to work - 3 days seems common throughout the diff clinics the chg means altering my time off - + partners as you have to take someone with you. Highly inconvenient when spending this money less than 2 mths before app due - and here is me thinking conferences so large as to be held over in America takes mths to arrange - not 2 months. I had Lasik surgery for short sight at the Shaftesbury Avenue clinic at the end of November 2002 and can't recommend it (the surgery) highly enough as have had perfect vision since then. The only problem I have had is slight dryness but this has now cleared up - and to be honest, it was nothing compared to how dry my eyes used to get whilst wearing contact lenses in an air-conditioned office every day! The op itself was painless and very quick, and the surgical team and carer were brilliant. The only comment I would make about The Norwich Eye Clinic (where I had my consultation and am having my follow-up appointments) is that I have never been seen on time at any of my appointments, ...  More...

I have recently had a assesment, and was told that my pupils are onthe large size therefore I would be more at risk of night time vision problems. I was impressed with the honest information given and have decided that I am not prepared to under go the procedure at the present time. With all the current publicity I am sure I have made the right choice, I would advise anybody to listen to the surgeon, and act accordingly. Whilst all lasers claim to be better than another, there is not one that will guarantee a reduction in night time vision problems, if there was do you think all clinics would be using it??? had lasik performed by Dr Aziz on Friday 14th February. Only one minor complication with flap in right eye moving immediately after surgery. Sorted this by inserting a daily-disposable lens for 24hrs. Decided not to have valium before treatment, and must say I did find it very uncomfortable, but the nurses were super. Following day reported excellent vision in left eye, but too soon to tell in right eye due to some abrasion frosting vision. This cleared up totally after 48hrs and I can see perfectly now. Eye drops are a pain in the neck, but obviously necessary. Will report further comment after one week check up, but so far so good, other that haloing I am experiencing at night. I still cant believe that I can see without glasses. My vision is better than 20/20, I can see the bottom line of the chart with both eyes (which I could do from day 1 check-up). I have visited the Eye Clinic in Southampton and have been really impressed by the professionalism of the clinic. I have booked to have lasik in both eyes on 15th February. I was worried about the whole procedure and so booked an appointment to meet the surgeon Miss Huda Flayeh and again was reassured by her and her impressive qualifications. However the eye clinic have just phoned me to say that she has left their employment and so I will now be operated on by Mr Kantilal Jain. Does anyone have any info about Mr Jain? His qualifications seem very good but I am a bit thrown as I only met Huda last Friday and they have changed the surgeon with two days to go to my operation.  More...

On 13th January i had Lasik eye surgery at the Milton Keynes Eye Clinic. I was not at all nervous due to the wonderful care of ALL the staff on the consultation visit. I was also thrilled to find my surgeon was to be Clive Mortimer who i believe is one of the best in his field. The surgery was painless .My eyes were watering until i got home and went to bed. After 4 hours i got up and have not looked back! Today i went for my 4 week checkup. Apart from a slightly dry left eye, my vision is better than 20/20. I do need glasses for reading but at 56 its par for the course. I really wish i could have had this done when i was younger but its never to late! So to anyone thinking about it, ...  More...

I wrote on this board New Year , I've since had the Lasik treatment and to Lynn Herbert all I can say is go for it girl , if your eye sight is anywhere as bad as mine WAS, you'll never regret the decision. I had my treatment at Northumberland Road Newcastle, I don't live far from there, Killingworth if you know it, and I can tell you the difference is immediate, I couldn't possibly write this email without my "specs" before . The staff were great. the treatment wasn't painful, more uncomfortable, but there's always someone there to reassure and dispel any fears you may have. It's only ten days since I've had this done, but believe me, every day is a new experience . I'll keep the board poste ...  More...

Update following my comments on 10th January. I went along to Accuvision who have the new Wavefront technology and large pupils were confirmed, even though I had 2 separate measurements at my local opticians saving they were smaller than average! Turns out that if I had had the standard LASIK then I would have been very likely to suffer significant night vision problems. My thanks to Mr Panjit for discouraging surgery - despite the initial disappointment he did me a huge favour! I'm booked in to have surgery at Accuvision on 28th February. highly recommend MaxiVision if your eyes are 'normal', Accuvision if you wan the very latest technology - diagnostics and treatment (but at a cost). good ...  More...

What can I say! I went to the Shaftsbury Ave clinic on Thursday for Lasik. I've been very short-sighted for most of my life and when I came out a few hours later I could see! The staff were excellent, v professional and v reassuring. Got there for 8.30am. My eyes were checked out on an interesting contraption that checked the layout of the eyes. Went upstairs. Paid the money to the very nice Anna, the Laser Clinic office manager, then saw the surgeon who did the some double checks (same as when I went for the suitability consultation.) Went in for surgery half an hour later and that was it! Foggy sight for the first day - went home took one of their prescribed sleeping tablets. Woke up ...  More...

Hello, just thought I would post again to let you know how I got on, I got my surgery this morning in Manchester and I'm back home in Scotland now, and all I can say is - Its Brilliant, I can actually see!!!! The procedure was completely painless, (I'm not exaggerating) I took the valium beforehand so I was very calm, which I definitely think helped. The staff were great, they talked me through the whole procedure telling me what was happening next etc, they even told me afterwards that I had been really good, I just stayed as calm as I could, and got though the procedure no probs. But to be honest the procedure itself never really bothered me, it was always the results afterwards that ...  More...

It's now been three and a half months since my treatment, and everything has settled down fine. Initially my night vision was a bit worse than before the op - haloes etc around lights. This has now disappeared. My prescription has ended up as 0.0 as far as the short-sightedness is concerned (in both eyes), with just a small amount of astigmatism left in each eye. I have not needed even to get reading glasses made up yet. The Eye Clinic's after-care service has still been faultless. I don't know why I didn't have the treatment before !  More...

Thought I would add an update as I had PRK on my right eye only back in April 2002. However, I'm now back to wearing glasses as the improvement in my vision is very minor- I've gone from -1.5 to -.75 - so legally I can drive without glasses which means it's a 'success' - but I can't read road signs until I've gone past them- can't see the t.v. clearly and stuff like that. The surgery was an absolute doddle - but was has alarmed me has been the after care- they were in capable of getting my prescription correct- I needed to have my glasses amended as I needed them for driving. They came out with some story about how the eye that hadn't been operated on had actually changed it's prescription s ...  More...

I have made an appointment for my initial consultation at Milton Keynes and so have viewed this web site for feed back. However can't find any comments from people who are longsighted that have had the surgery. I would greatly appreciate hearing any comments good or bad regarding post operative results.  More...

Went to London clinic today for treatment but was surprised to find I had large pupils which increased the risk of night glare. This was particularly odd as I had been told my pupils were below average at my initial consultation in Winchester. I drive a lot for work and felt that this risk was too significant when combined with my astigmatism. Mr Panjit the surgeon was very patient explaining the issue and did not push me to have surgery. He did suggest I consider Wavefront technology which should be available with Maxivision later this year. This should reduce my chance of night glare significantly. So, I've left disappointed to still be wearing specs but reassured that the intervention w ...  More...

I am due to go to Manchester and have Bilateral Lasik on the 17th of January. My surgeon is Mr Aziz. I am very nervous about this, but have found this site quite reassuring, most of the comments have been favourable, and I think it is down to pure luck if you have any complications afterwards!!! I am due to get the surgery at 9.15 in the morning and then travel back to Glasgow afterwards (I'm not staying overnight in Manchester) I'm then getting my follow up appointment the next day in Glasgow. Does anyone have any advice regarding the procedure, do's and don't before hand and also about the train journey home!!! (I've a vision of me on a train with everyone looking at me because I'v ...  More...

I have worn glasses for 47yrs and thought that I was "doomed" to wear them all my life. I made an appointment at the Newcastle branch for new years eve, I am absolutely astonished to be told that after treatment all I would need was maybe some "Woolies" or "Bootsiz" glasses for reading only . I am going to have the procedure done in the very near future. I know its expensive , but what the "hell", the pro's out way the cons , I cant wait for the day that I can walk outside etc and not have to wear corrective lens. I'll keep you posted on the out come.  More...
