At First I was very worried about having this done, however after the consultation with my surgeon I could not wait. The Surgeon and Nursing staff were just great, the treatment was very quick and a little weird but very painless. The after care ( which is in my opinion the most important part ) was second to none, i followed the course of drops and my eyes were just fine. I cannot thank the Staff at Optegra enough, from the initial consultation through to surgery and post surgery consultations, I was made to feel at ease and nothing was too much trouble. They were all professional, friendly and polite and the coffee was excellent! From the ease of getting there, friendliness of staff through to the actual results etc I've been very impressed. The staff took time to explain everything that was going on and came over as highly professional and thorough. I won't pretend the surgery was painless, but it was no worse than getting a speck of dust behind a contact lens and over in a few seconds. Within 6 hours my eyes were totally pain free and no longer light sensitive. I'd worn lenses for 20 years and glasses for 12 years before that and was about -7 in both eyes. I would like to say a big thank you to the staff at Optegra. Everyone I met were very friendly and helpful which instantly made me feel at ease. The whole experience was seamless and although i had a relatively low prescription, two weeks on i feel my eyes are almost perfect. I visited several clinics prior to Optegra and decided that for the price the clinic offered superior technology, staff and facilities. Right through the process I was impressed with the professionalism of the staff and the quality of the technology and overall look and feel of the clinic. The treatment options were well explained during the consultation and the actual operation was painless and relaxed. I was -1.5 in both eyes wih mild astigmatism and now have better than 20/20 in both (0.0). The whole process is quite incredible and was very easy for me as I am usually a squeamish and cowardly patient… • Initial eye test & consultation; • About 6 minutes in a comfortable recliner (no pain); • 20:20 vision 5 minutes later! I really was very impressed throughout with my experience at Optegra. After thinking for years about having this treatment done I finally took the plunge. I cannot put into words how absolutely delighted I am. I had the treatment done just over a week ago and you would never know. I had my weekly check up 2 days ago and it was confirmed that I had even better than 20/20 vision. Optegra have been wonderful. My base prescription was around -9.00 in both eyes with high astigmatism and I had worn gas permeable lenses for 15 years. I am now 6 days post op and as far as I can tell, the sight in my left eye is already perfect and although my right eye is perhaps still a little short-sighted (no more than, say 0.5 a dioptre) the quality of vision is improving daily. The Optegra facilities themselves were top noch (certainly more modern than Moorfields, where I had also had a consultation), with what I understand to be the latest technologies. Very welcoming environment with pleasant and knowledgable staff. The whole team was very professional. They explained and kept me well informed of the procedures at every stage of treatment from the initial examination, during the operation itself and the after-care follow-up. I am extremely pleased with the end result as I no longer need to wear glasses. I can now drive, ride my Harley and play sports without the hindrance my glasses gave me (although it hasn't improved my tennis backhand?!*).
