Following my consultation and weighing up the pros and cons I chose to have Lasek as this involved no cutting of the eye.

I was rather nervous when I first went for my surgery, but as soon as I was in the theatre with Prof Shah I was made to feel at ease, the surgery went very well with Sunil explaining everything he was doing as it went along, including what noises the machinery will make etc - nothing took me by surprise. The whole procedure took approx 20 minutes. I didn't really expect to be able to see very well after I left the clinic, but I was amazed at what I could see!

Following my surgery I had some complications with swollen eye lids and this worried me, but Sunil saw me straight away and put my mind to rest, this was just my body's reaction to the surgery and it cleared up quickly. In the weeks since my surgery I have been amazed at how my eyesight has improved, and after having an eye test at MEI last week was very please to learn that I have no prescription at all in either eye!

I was very impressed with everyone at the Midland Eye Institute, right from my initial consultation every member of staff was very professional and explained everything very well. After the surgery the nurses were great at explaining my medication, when to take it and what to do.

I cannot recommend both the Lasek procedure or the Midland Eye Institute enough they were truly fantastic!
