Manchester Centre for Vision at Manchester Eye Hospital
Had lasek with wavefront on 29/8/09, it's been 1 week and my eyes are near perfect.
I can see probably better than with my glasses already. I had the bandage lenses taken out last Monday, 2 days ago, and my eyes feel much better. My eyes are still a little dry but that's to be expected. I'm still taking the mandatory antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye
drops at the moment. I have artificial tears to provide comfort from the dryness for as long as I like.
Although if it's only been a week and my eyes are this good, can't imagine needing them for very long.
I researched laser surgery for years before actually going for it. I had consultations with MCV
and one of the main high street clinics. I found there was an element of pressure sales at the
other clinic but at Manchester Centre for Vision there was no sales pitch, just honest
answers to questions. I was given all the options and I decided on Lasek. I could have had monovision
which is a correction for my inevitable old sight but I tried simulating it with contact lenses for
a bit and couldn't really get used to it. Apparently lots of people can get used to it.
The surgeon, Khalid Ikram, did the surgery, him and his team were fantastic. All the way through the
surgery I was told what was happening, I felt in safe hands.
If anybody wants to know more about the actual procedure and recovery of lasek whilst it's fresh in my mind, you can ask me questions by emailing me via the link on this page.
