I took a long time to make a decision about having laser eye surgery. Firstly I hate hospitals, and secondly because I didn't really believe I needed it.

However, I recently turned 34 and my prescription was now a fairly stable -7.5 in my left eye, and -7 in my right. Contact lenses were starting to irritate me after 15 years of almost constant wear, and glasses were just a pain in the backside and just too limiting for how my lifestyle is developing.

I went to LaserSight on a recommendation from my opticians. The thing that stands out about them is that both their surgeons are specialist corneal surgeons and I felt somewhat comforted in the idea that if anything should go wrong with the proceedure, these are the guys that I'd want to be there!

I saw Mr Kasaby and I was the proverbial patient from hell. I had numerous questions and I ended up having 4 appointments prior to making my decision. At no time was I made to feel like I was being difficult, they had all the time in the world for me and answered every single one of my concerns in a way that I could understand.

I had the wavefront proceedure and it was nowhere near as bad as one would think. There is absolutely no pain, but it can be described as slightly uncomfortable from a pressure sensation point of view - they are working on your eye after all! The proceedure was done in a BUPA operating theatre, they were all in scrubs and the whole experience was hugely professional.

The worst thing for me was the few hours after leaving the hospital, in that the tears stung! But in fairness, my eyes have always been sensitive. Beyond that, there really wasn't anything to it. 9:30am surgery, by the afternoon the world was looking like a much better place.

2 days ago I had my 6 week followup. My prescription is now a pretty stable -.25 in both eyes which is awesome considering where I'd come from. I cannot be happier, I cannot tell you how fantastic LaserSight is and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Forget the fact that they aren't cheap, I believe that you get what you pay for in this world and I'm never going to take a chance with my eyes so the cost wasn't a problem despite it being every penny I had.

I have one small critism...their office is a PO Box address and I can't send them flowers!!! Thank you LaserSight.
