I had LASIK treatment almost two years ago now to correct severe short-sightedness. I cannot recommend it highly enough. I did a lot of research, had a great surgeon in Birmingham who had not only years of experience but had gone so far as to correct his own wife and daughter's eyesight and that to my mind meant he was clearly pretty confident in both the treatment and his own ability. He was brilliant with me as I was terrified, a nervous wreck. I went in at ten past and was out and done by twenty past! Zero pain before, during or after and that is the truth. I had both eyes done together and after he finished my right eye - I was actually able to glance around the room and see the screen he was using to magnify my left eye! I didn't watch, but I could see it - that soon after surgery - it wasn't even finished yet!!
I sat up and could see the clock and the whole eye chart from where I sat on the edge of the bed immediately after surgery. AMAZING.
They give you drops to keep your eyes moist after surgery and if you use them frequently you won't even notice the dryness until you wake on a morning where you will need to pop a couple of drops on your lids to ease opening your eyes because they dry a little over night. That is the extent of any inconvenience/discomfort you would feel - nothing! The dryness lasted about a week, I was allergic to my drops because of the preservatives in them and after two days of perfect vision I lost most of my sight. I went right back to my surgeon and he knew immediately what the problem was and simply changed my drops - within hours I was 100% back to normal and now almost two years on I've almost forgotten I ever used to wear glasses or contact lenses.
The clinic I had my surgery at is no-longer there unfortunately, but I'd like to say a huge thankyou to Boots Laser Eye Clinic as it was then.
