I am due to have Lasik on both eyes in just over a week at the Southampton branch of The Eye Clinic. My eyes are currently -4.25 and -4.75. My surgeon is going to be Mr Giledi, I have not read any comments about this surgeon so if anyone has had any dealings with him then please email me with more details as I am worried about his level of experience. I also have to admit that I do not know if I am being treated for astigmatism, I know that I have seen a slight astigmatism on my prescription but don't know if I still have this and if it is being treated. They didn't tell me and it is only now that I have considered this. I'll have to contact them and ask. I have found the Eye Clinic very poor so far as they have really messed me about with appointment dates and never called back when they promised. The consultation was very thorough though and I was pleased with that. I am looking forward to the prospect of surgery but also apprehensive at the possible risks too. However, I've done my research and feel I've made an informed choice. I'm in my mid 20s, my pupil size is slightly larger than average at 7mm, my corneal thickness is satisfactory. I've been warned of starbursts and haloes due to my larger pupil size but my sight isn't great with contact lenses now and so that hasn't really put me off too much. I do have a slight dry eye problem which accounts for my 'not so great' sight when wearing contact lenses. I understand that dry eye can be a problem after the surgery and am a little worried that this may cause a problem for me. To be honest though, I really want freedom from contacts and glasses and being able to have better vision seems so great. I've basically detailed everything here with the hope that some people who have had Lasik might email me and let them know their experiences. I will post again after my surgery and let you know the outcome.
