Considering Laser Eye Surgery in the UK?, then you have reached the right place. This is because the content of this website is almost all provided by feedback from those who have already experienced Laser eye surgery in the guise of either Wavefront, Zyoptix, Lasik, Lasek or PRK eye surgery.

I had both eyes done by lasik treatment in Glasgow. The treatment and the expertise of the people involved was nothing short of fantastic. I would recomend it to anyone and I already am.There was absolutely no pain whatsoever and the results are amazing. Thanks very much for giving me a new outlook in life.  More...

Hi - I had teatment by the Advanced Laser Eye Clinic in Aberdeen. By all accounts it is the same two surgeons that treats in all their clinics, both of whomn are experienced. I had a massive prescription before surgery and now have 20/20 vision. This has transfromed my life. I'd say go for it - I'd never look back, but it's really down to each individual. Good luck!  More...

I recently had the Zyoptix zywave testing and the technician couldn't get the numbers the match up exactly with the refraction numbers. He tried sever times, dialated my eyes and tried several more time, then he sent me back to the doctor to have the refraction redone on both eyes and then tried the zywave testing again. He got the numbers for the right eye to match up exactly with the redone refractive testing. He still couldn't get the number on the left eye to match up. He said that I might not be a candidate for Custom surgery on my left eye. I really did want to have the custom done on both eyes. Would it really be in my best interest to just get the standard lasik on my left ey ...  More...

I had my LASIK the 8th Sept. So far so good. Thought i'd share some hints. I was quite nervous about the whole thing so bought some homeopathic remedy.. Star of Bethlehem to take as a tincture in water. Started to use it 3 days before and it seemed to calm me down. I also bought some 30c Arnica pillules which i started taking at the same time, and still taking now, to promote healing and lessen shock and bruising. Don't know what effect the 2 things have really had, but according to the clinic my vision and healing is ahead of scheduled progress so who knows.. Also take with you to the clinic a pair of sunglasses, as dark as you can get , as your eyes will be pretty sensitive to ligh ...  More...

Six months ago i had Lasik done.I was -3.50 and -4.00. My eye which was -4.00 seems to have regresed. After the surgery they were both almost 20:20. Looking out both eyes everytings looks ok but with the bad eye covered i notice things arent as clear. I would like a top-up but feel the clinic will not offer this as they said they would they bring me back as far as 20;20 as they could. I had it done in ireland. I would be grateful of anyone advise regarding what they think i should say or what the clinic might say.  More...

I am considering lasik surgery and am based in Dublin. There seems to be a huge difference in price between clinics in Dublin and Belfast but I am obviously conscious of level of aftercare service, confidence in surgeons etc and to a large extent this would outweigh monetary factors. However, clinics in Belfast seem to be literally half the price... Has anyone from Dublin had any experience in this regard?  More...

For the past 6 months now I have been experiencing problems with my contact lenses ( previously wore lenses for over 15 years with no problems). After several visits to eye clinic and opticians it appears that I have developed an allergy to my lenses. Have tried different types all cause same problem of intense itch and swelling. Has anyone out there considered lasik surgery having experienced problems similair to mine pre-op. I'm concerned that I may not be able to tolerate the bandage lenses post op. I dont know my perscription but am only slightly short sighted. I wear glasses full time as i feel disorientated without them. I am also very worried about the afterpain. I am very queasy at the best of times. My main worry is looking after my daughter and driving. Does anyone knoe if the less the prescription the quicker the healing time? I am 35 years old and have worn glasses since I was 10. I love my eyes. If I had it to do over again, I would have done it the exact way. Oh, by the way, my husband went today. I have recommended the procedure to lots of people. I rate the experience as a 5 star experience!  More...

I am still trying to make up my mind whether to have surgery. See my previous mail re 45 years old and will lose my reading sight if have surgery. I am having a mono vision trial (6 days in) but really not sure about this. Distance is OK but not so sharp as with contacts. Blurry vision on the side which does not have a lens in and very difficult to read for prolonged periods. I am concious of my eyes all the time and it feels a strain. I would really like to hear from people in their 40's and 50's who have had monovision or bilateral surgery and how this has affected their near sight after a settling in period. Also does anyone know anything about Mr Giledi from the Eye Clinic?  More...

Hi, I have quite a strong prescription (+10 in left eye and +9.75 in right eye) and was wondering has anyone of this level of prescription had either of the above procedures carried out? I have been for a consultation at Site for Eyes @ Sunderland Eye Infirmary and the surgeon suggested that the best procedure for him would be a refractive lens exchange (clear lens extraction) however I have concerns over this as the procedure is non reversible and seems pretty drastic. Personally I would prefer a lens implant, however the surgeon suggested that it would be difficult to do a lens implant in a patient of my prescription as there would potentially not be enough space in my eye to accommodate ...  More...

Most people do not have the time or the opportunity to read the article cited by our surgeon comparing LASIK and PRK, in Ophthalmology. 1998 Aug;105(8):1512-22, so here are some of the interesting features. "There were three flap-related complications in the LASIK group. In the first case, the microkeratome stopped in the middle of the pass. The procedure was stopped, and the patient received uncomplicated LASIK treatment 3 months later. In the second case, the flap was completely cut off. The excimer ablation was completed without complication, and the corneal lenticule was replaced. In the third case, the flap was extremely thin. It was replaced without laser ablation. The procedure was ...  More...

I will post again after the operation to let anyone interested know how it went.  More...
