Had the procedure carried out last week and the results are perfect. Great set up at FOCUS - the facilities, staff, equipment and follow ups are all of a very high standard and I never felt pressured in to anything. My Prescription was around -1 to -1.5 in each eye with astigmatism and the correction went brilliantly. I currently have better than 20/20 vision in each eye. For what ever reason you want the op - be that sport, driving, swimming, vanity etc. then I can only say go for it and I highly recommend the FOCUS group. I had my operation for short-sightedness in both eyes on 17 October 2009. I am mid 40s. Prescription was around L-3 and R-3 plus astigmatism in the right eye. As I do a lot of training and sport I went for perfect long distance vision rather than the blended vision option (one eye for short vision and one eye for long). I chose this clinic because it had such good ratings on this site. The consultation took about 1.5 hours and was very thorough. Everything was explained clearly and I was given a chance to ask as many questions as I wanted. At the end, I was given a price and was put under no pressure to book the surgery. I did not receive any calls between the consultation and the day I called to book it. A couple of days before the surgery I had a problem with my eyes (blepharitis, a recurring problem of mine), so I called and they asked me to come in. I had my treatment done just over a month ago. What can I say other than WOW! I had been for consultations with both Optical Express and Optimax before choosing Focus. The main factors contributing to this decision was the non-pushy sales approach, value for money, atmosphere at the clinic(you don't feel as though you are on a conveyor belt) plus the vast experience of the surgeon. Having undergone Z-lasik yesterday, I'm already thrilled with the results I have better than 20/20 vision, my vision is miles clearer then with contact lenses and a massive improvement over glasses, it' like my eyes have been upgraded to full HD! All the staff were very helpful and professional my surgeon Mr. Mearza is clearly very skilled at what he does there is an air of confidence which certainly helps the nerves, I felt very little discomfort whilst having the procedure you hardly see or feel a thing. I would highly recommend Focus laser vision to anyone thinking about having eye laser surgery. Although they were not the nearest clinic to me (I’m in Warwickshire) I felt that their professional care and standards justified the distance travelled. Based on results alone, I fully recommend Focus Clinic. After putting up with 15years of glasses and having medium-severe short-sighted & astigmatism in both eyes (-4.75 & -5.75) so felt it was time to get this procedure done. The clinic is efficient, and the procedure itself was very quick. Just one evening's discomfort on the day of op but the eye drops they give you bring quick relief. Next day, I was 100% fine, no discomfort or pain and could see better than 20/20. Slight starburst effect when looking at car lights but hoping this should settle within next few months. I had my treatment on 25/06/09 with Dr David Allamby and I cannot recommend FOCUS highly enough. I attended 4 consultations before deciding to go ahead with FOCUS. My initial consultation with FOCUS was carried out by Connie who answered all my questions and concerns competently. There was no hard-sell from FOCUS at all. On treatment day Dr Allamby carried out a thorough examination and noted that my right eye seemed to prefer slightly higher prescription and he also suggested to create a slightly smaller diameter flap to avoid the bruising/blood shot eyes after the surgery. I cannot speak highly enough about my experience with Focus Laser Vision. From my initial consultation right through to my day of surgery (3 June), I was given fantastic advice with no 'sales' pressure whatsoever. At my consultation I was offered contact lens of varying prescriptions to 'trial' a simulation of the blended vision option but I elected to go for Z-Lasik treatment to both eyes to cure my shortsightness. From the moment I picked up the phone to make an enquiry to my recent 5 week check up, the service provided by Focus has been first class. The staff were extremely helpful as I was particularly nervous and prone to fainting. I even had a member of staff hold my hand throughout the quick 9 minute treatment and I felt completely comfortable and it was so fast. All the staff at the clinic were professional and welcoming. They made me feel totally at ease and explained every step of the procedure. Caroline who did my eye test was excellent and really knew her stuff!! She was extremely thorough. At the end of the consultation there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted the procedure done as soon as possible and amazingly I could have it done in two weeks. I'm not good at words so I'll be brief.......!! I've always been a bit eye phobic so it was a big step for me to consider laser correction but...........I couldn't get on with contacts (the only time I could see properly was when I was crying - quite often with the lenses in - yuk!!). I've worn varifocals for a number of years and absolutely hated them - I could walk through a clean room and my glasses would be dirty by the time I walked out (they could have had "Dyson" written on the side of them!!!). My experience at Laser Vision Focus was nothing but excellent. All the staff are very friendly and caring. I was fully informed prior to the surgery and therefore felt very comfortable during my entire treatment. The only clinic I visited where I got to meet the surgeon before the day of the op. David put me at ease, made me feel better about LASIK over PRK (when I sometimes do contact martial arts). The staff here all seemed to know what they were talking about, unlike other surgeries I visited. Not only the most comfortable experience, but also the cheapest?! Day of surgery: I was a bit nervous, I'd have been worried if I wasn't!. There was some slight discomfort in the last 10th of a second when the suction thing for flap creation was applied other than that, painless. So strange to be sat up afterwards and be able to see. Totally amazing, best present to myself in 2008. I would recommend getting your eyes lasered to anyone, especially at FOCUS Laser Vision, the team there are truly amazing, extremely friendly and very caring to ensure you feel at ease before, throughout and after the surgery. What a fantastic experience! From start to finish, Focus were excellent. From the peaceful waiting area, the extremely helpful staff to David Allamby the surgeon himself. The pre-op appointment went extremely well and I instantly felt in the safest hands. All the staff at the clinic were incredible, answering every question I had and helping with settling my nerves on the day of the operation. I found the whole experience really personal and I still now think it is brilliant how the receptionist, I didn't catch her name, was so on the ball and remembered my name even after only one visit. The surgery was great. A little unnerving, but the team helped me to feel very comfortable and at home. Everything went smoothly, I had good vision very soon after surgery and 8 months later everything is still great. I think my vision is actually better than when I was wearing contacts.
