Can't recommend Focus highly enough, they were brilliant throughout. Had surgery on 1 eye only (PRK) so that I could still read without glasses as well as see to drive (I am 52). That was the doctor's recommendation. Was dubious at first but eyes blended together and no glasses for anything now. Am envy of my friends and their reading glasses!!! I cannot recommend FOCUS Laser Vision enough! Having worn glasses for nearly 16 years - enough was enough. I play a lot of sport and bike to work every day. Rain in this country and glasses don't go together! I'm not rich and do not have a lot of money to spare. The price of the surgery was important to me. This was the best price available by far, and at Focus they are professional, friendly and reassuring. The clinic itself is very clean and smart, and put me at ease. I was in a conundrum about whether to get laser treatment, my prescription being only -1.25 with astigmatism in one eye, but I felt if I could negate the need for glasses at such an affordable price then why not? I can't speak highly enough of my experience at Focus Laser Eye Clinic. Prior to my consultation there I had had a consultation with another large laser clinic. There was no comparison between the two. Focus was much more personal and right from when I entered the reception area I felt " looked after ". The staff were friendly and cheerful. I arrived into London from Somerset on the day of my operation 21st October as nervous as hell. I had already backed out twice before from two other Lazer clinics over the years as I did not feel secure in the knowledge that they had my sight in their hands and lost my deposit both times. Excellent ophthalmic assessment. Surgeon was excellent and very reassuring throughout procedure and gave me his personal mobile number to contact afterwards even in the evening - which I made use of and he was helpful. Good follow-up care. They also have a very nice waiting area with an impressive coffee machine which makes delicious cappuccinos! I also think that the price is excellent; note that it includes full after-care. My only criticism is that they could have given clearer guidance on the reasons for after-care medication and emphasised more the consequences of not taking it exactly as prescribed. I researched many different clinics and procedures and couldn't have been happier with choosing Focus Laser Vision, and so glad someone I knew recommended them to me. At first I was apprehensive as they were so much more affordable than the other clinics, but there was nothing budget about the place! Absolutely top facilities and excellent customer service. I was a bit scared but paid for the M-Lasik blade which is older technology but value for money. I expected to pay the 299 per eye but unfortunately one eye was +1.50 so it cost extra but despite my minimum wages I decided that I was going to dump my glasses look for good. I think it is more the money than the operation that put other people off. Perhaps they are scarred they would not bother to have an operation done hoping it comes on the National Health. Expecting to have both eyes done I was surprised to find I was advise to have only one eye done. This meant considerably less cost and more years where I wouldn't require reading glasses - I am 40+ and at that age where most people start needing reading glasses. If you are wondering about pain then don't, its just a little discomfort both during the surgery and in the post op. period. The impact to my vision was almost perfect immediately and as it settles down it only gets better. There are no words to describe how incredible it is to be able to see clearly again. Without the use of glasses, my vision was quite blurry. The morning after the treatment I could see perfectly. I'm usually pretty conservative in my opinions, Not in this case. I can not say enough good things about the FOCUS clinic. They advised me to only have one eye done so I could preserve both my near and distant vision, resulting in a big cost savings for me. And it was the right choice. The clinic itself is beautiful. I underwent LASEK treatment to correct short-sightedness in my right eye only. Being in the unusual situation of only being short-sighted in one eye, it seemed a no-brainer to have corrective surgery. I can absolutely recommend laser surgery. It has been life changing for me, I very rarely wore my glasses and spent 29 years walking around partially sighted and seeing the world through a haze. Initially, I went for blended vision, but when I was shown 'what it would be like' I decided against it. I was then told my distance vision could be treated, so this is what I went for. It has now been two months since my treatment and I can honestly say it was the best thing (healthwise) I've ever done! I have been highly impressed with Focus and all of the staff there from the moment when I just popped into the clinic reception to ask for some information. The clinic is excellent. All the staff are very helpful and welcoming. I had been to Ultralase for a consultation previously, and was not very impressed. My initial consultation was thorough and the optometrist spent a lot of time going over the options available to me and took me through the whole procedure. On the day of surgery, Dr Allamby carrried out a pre-operative consultation and when he had checked all the details, and I was happy he carried out the blade free (Z-Lasik) procedure. I chose Focus Clinic, after having a consultation with another well know clinic - the treatments were to be the same, however the price was about £1,000 more and the "hard sell" put me right off - at Focus, I had all the tests, received costings and information on the proceudres, all without any hard sell! Absolutely excellent customer service, they achieved the perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness. There was absolutely no "hard sell" of the treatment, and all the risks were very well explained before I decided to go ahead. The facility in Winpole Strret, London (just next to Harley Street) is very modern, clean and seemed well equipped. I stayed with the same surgeon (Dr Ali Mearza) for my treatment and follow up visits. They even provide you with your surgeons mobile phone number which you can call at any time if you have problems or worries following the treatment. I had a consultation at Ultralase 3 years ago and was completely put off having surgery. It was very much a hard sell approach and didn't give me confidence that I would be able to see as well as with my Glasses/contacts as they said my prescription was quite high especially with the astigmatism(-5.5 & -4.5 and astigmatism -1.5 & -2.75) I gave up on the idea until I saw Dr Allamby on This Morning and this got me thinking about it again. I am amazed by the change in my sight. I had obviously expected benefit from the treatment but not to the degree I have recieved. I drive a powerboat as my chosen sport and was reaching a position whereby my licence would be difficult to achieve. I am now in a position to continue driving for some years!! Incidently I am 70 years of age. I cannot express my gratitude for the difference the Staff at Focus have made to my continued pleasure in my sport.
