Having my eyes lasered was the best decision I have ever made. I could see virtually straight after surgery and by the next day - perfect vision. I thought my eyes were good with my contacts/glasses, but after surgery you can actually see how distorted contacts/glasses make everything. Hi All I had IntraLasik performed at Centre for Sight 7 months ago. I've got 6/4 vision in both eyes now and no astigmatism at all (from an original Rx of approx -6.0 D wth astigmatism in both eyes). My corneas were on the thin side thin so we opted for the tissue saving Zyoptix Wavefront treatment. I stayed at a Premier Travel Inn which is not too far from the East Grinstead hospital as I didn't want to be disturbed during the first 24 hours after the op (I've got 2 young children). I had the wavefront lasik in mid March and waited this long to post as I was one of those people who didn't immediatly have perfect sight a day after. Yes I could see and had 20:20 in each eye but when my eyes would get tired in the evenings, I had a lot of problems with star bursts and dilated pupils. The staff at CFC told me this was normal and could last up to three months. Well, they were spot on except that each week I could see better and better at night, (daytime was perfect). WOW! Mr Giledi carried out Zyoptix wavefront techniques on both eyes on Monday 16th April 2007 to correct high myopia and astigmatism and although I was uncomfortable for 4-6 hours post-op, easily managed with ordinary painkillers, my vision was amazing immediately - and this morning - just 24 hours after the procedure, I have no discomfort and my sight is like I have never experienced with specatacles or contact lenses - FANTASTIC! Everyone has been so kind and helpful. It's only "day one" and I can't stop reading out people's number plates and road signs. My world has opened up! Had intralasik tissue saving op two days ago with Mr Daya. I can't remember ever being able to see this well even with my glasses! This morning, when my husband pulled back the curtains in our bedroom as I was sitting up in bed, I not only saw the tree next door with all its branches - but a green woodpecker sitting in the tree!! How much is eyesight worth? I have been thinking about the possibility of laser eye surgery for some time, but considered it just too expensive - after all, I could wear contact lenses so who would know? In the last few years though, I have found contacts increasingly uncomfortable, and stopped wearing them full time about 2 years ago. With a severe prescription -9 in the right eye with astigmatism, and -11.5 in the left, these were very expensive - but I was advised that lasik would not work for me by some of the high street clinics. I had Intralasik performed by Mr. Daya on Monday 29th January, after about five years of research and a couple of visits to other establishments. !Amazing! -9.75 in both eyes back to 20/20 vision in the space of 24 hours. Have been shortsighted since I was 7 and in lenses for the last 21 years. This is nothing short of a miracle! No more lenses being blown out on the ski slopes, or that sinking feeling when your told to cut down on your contact lense use. 6 month update. Today I had my first eye test with my regular optician since having Lasik at Centre for Sight last July. Everything is stable and I have 20/20 in each eye. Previously I was -8.75 and -7.25 with astigmatism. My optician gave my eyes a thorough examination and said it was the neatest surgery she had ever seen and could barely see any scars. The reason why I went to the Centre for Sight was after watching all the statistics and reports/reviews over the last 10 years the best of the best in the UK is the Centre for Sight. (also one of the more expensive, but hey you only get one pair of eyes!) I found this forum very helpful, so here is my experience: About -7 in both eyes, worn glasse since age 10, contacts from age 15, now in my 40s.
