I have waited until after my 3 month check-up to post a report on this site. I had tissue saving surgery at Centre for Sight in June, having worn glasses for 25 years or so (prescription around -4.0 plus astigmatism). I had been following developments in eye surgery ever since the days of Russian radial keratomy, and earlier this year finally reached the conclusion that the technology was sufficiently advanced/safe to go for it. Had the blade free procedure end of 2005 and I am still amazed at the difference it has made to my life. I was short sighted (-4.25) and now have better than 20/20 vision. The aftercare was brilliant and the staff are very helpful. I especially liked the fact that this clinic turn away unsuitable cases, instead of just doing it anyway like some. They are very professional and do not seem driven by profit. A good sign is that they are always busy. My job involves much travelling, mostly to hot, sunny and very dusty places, living in extremely primitive conditions. After researching and considering eye surgery for at least 5 years I have finally taken the plunge and had my surgery on Friday 28th July. All the research I had done convinced me that Centre for Sight was the best place to go, and I was certain that Mr Daya was the only person I wanted anywhere near my eyes. Not suitable for laser? Don't despair -neither was I! But I now have 20/20 vision in both eyes having worn glasses or contact lenses since I was 11 - over forty years! Mr Daya's process of fitting "ReSTOR" lenses, whilst a less "instant" solution, was a wonderful solution. The procedure is pain-free (just a little discomfort for a very short time) and the following morning you can see! Had surgery on Friday 5th May with Mr. Giledi this was after initial consultation two weeks previous. Everything from start to finish was excellent and of the highest standard. The experience fills you with confidence and does not unlike some others give you the impression of being a sausage factory just interested in money. I had my laser treatment over one month ago. Building up to the op, I was very scared but it helped me to get all my questions answered thoroughly. After two years of lasik research, including wading through countless journals I decided to take the plunge on 22nd April. I had attended a prior consultation at Accuvision, who had stated I was a candidate, but decided I needed a little extra assurance. I had worn contact lens for 20 years and had poor eyesight, -7 and -6.5, six months after the operation I have 20:20 vision in one eye and 20:15 in the other. It’s very special waking in the morning and being able to see and my eyes seem much healthier for not wearing contact lens. Personal service with good aftercare. Easy asses to friendly staff on the phone for advice and surgeon offered extra check up to reassure when things went blur. Patient leaflets generally clear although separating artifical tear drop times and FML drops could have been clearer. Similarly it needs highlighting that bad vision can be experienced under artifical light (e.g. flourescent at work) with blurring and stars like some experience with car headlights making reading anything harder for up to 4 weeks in my experience. Remarkable efficiency and ease - within 3 weeks of my decision to have laser eye surgery, Centre for Sight undertook my consultancy for suitability and successful operation. I attended Centre for Sight August 2005. At the initial consultation I was told I had thin cornea's plus astigmatism, but that I would be a suitable candidate for laser surgery with tissue saving. I was extremely nervous about the results but proceeded with the surgery and am ecstatic to say I have 20/20 vision. Initially I experienced some night haze, but that has faded. I have perfect crystal clear vision and I still find it amazing. All the staff are supportive, professional and informative. For 60 years of my life I have not been able to see without glasses or lenses. Eventually I wore lenses - and added glasses for reading and another pair for driving. Since my surgery I now have perfect vision. I can read the newspaper without reading glasses as well. This is so fantastic I can still hardly believe I can see when I wake in the morning - it is too wonderful to explain to anyone who does not suffer poor vision. I had Tissue Saving IntraLasik in September 2004, and it was the best thing I ever did. Mr Daya and his team were superb in every respect, at every point, and the operation itself, although uncomfortable, was not actually 'painful' and within hours of being home, I knew that it was the best thing I had ever done.
