Mr Daya performed surgery on my brother and me on the 1st of November 2004. We decided to make it a family affair! The whole procedure was most efficiently run with great care being afforded to each patient. After most comprehensive pre-operative tests performed at Harley Street we opted for Intralase surgery which proved to be an excellent choice. We have made an excellent recovery thanks to a superb surgeon and his caring staff (especially Carolina!). On the 6th December 2004 and at the age of 47, male with –8.00 and –7.50 defective vision, I decided to have Lasik surgery. Having worn glasses for the last 40 years for once I had the opportunity to correct my vision. I had to start wearing glasses from around 9 years old and last time I had my eyes checked they were around -6.0 with astigmatism, to be honest I struggled to see much without glasses. I tried contacts but never really got on with them. So last year I decided to see what could be done surgically and looked up the centre for sight and went to a consultation. I had needed glasses from a small child, and so have no recollection of ever being able to see clearly. I had the Lasik surgery in Feb 2004, as a 50th birthday present! It was undoubtedly the best birthday present I could ever have had. I am still enjoying the sensation of waking up in the morning and being able to see clearly, and at times still catch myself thinking that I've left my contact lenses in! I decided to have IntraLASIK surgery because I wanted to be able to see better and it was the latest and safest technology through which I thought I'd get the best results - particularly considering my high prescription. It's a miracle. 15 minutes of painless surgery and I have 20/20 vision in both eyes. Why didn't I do this sooner. I had my Intralasik surgery on Mon 15th November 2004 performed by Mr Sheraz Daya at Centre for Sight in East Grinstead. Tuesday 16th November I drove, without my glasses, to the routine 24 hour check up. I could see more clearly than when I wore glasses. It was absolutely brilliant!!! I've worn my glasses for over 25 years, my prescription was -3.5 in both eyes with an astigmatism. Mr. Daya recomended the Intralase with Tissue Saving treatment. I had my surgery on 15/11/2004 and it was amazing -no pain at all !!! because a flap was created with the Laser rather than a blade. After the operation my eyes were checked by Mr.Daya and I was discharged from CFS an hour later with full instructions as to what to what to expect and how to take my drops. Amazing, absolutely brilliant, I just can’t believe it. My sincere thanks to Mr Oz Giledi and the team of friendly professional staff at Centre for sight at East Grinstead. I’m 43 have worn glasses since I was 10 and all types of contact lenses since I was 16. So it seems very strange to me that when I wake up I don’t have to reach for my glasses. I have needed glasses from aged 10yrs(I am now 40). Without glasses everything had become colours and indistinct shapes (-6.75D, and -8D). I had been knocked back from Boots, and was more concerned that Mr Daya might say that I was not a suitable candidate for LASIK. He, and his entire staff were first class, and at the end of a very comprehensive assessment I was relieved that I was OK for treatment. My Intralasik Wavefront procedure.. In a way I was quite looking forward to being one of the first patients to undergo the Intralasik procedure. I had attended a seminar, presented by Mr Daya at The Centre for Sight, at the beginning of July and the Intralase cutting procedure appeared to be an exciting step forward. After wearing contact lenses for over 30 years and recently experiencing some discomfort with them (they were drying out very quickly during the day)I decided make enquiries about laser surgery. As I already work at the Queen Victoria Hospital where Centre for Sight are based I was aware of the excellent reputation they held and decided to arrange a consultation with Mr Daya. I am 50 years old. I have suffered with very poor eyesight for my whole life. I hated wearing glasses and wore hard contact lenses from the age of 14. For the following 34 years these served me well, but then for some reason my eyes started to become sensitive to my lenses. I switched to gas permeable lenses which suited for a while but then they too started to trouble me. I then moved on to soft lenses. These I really had problems with. I found the concept of grabbing my eyeball to remove the lens rather disconcerting. I also found that I didn't see so well. I had me vision corrected in March this year by Mr Giledi using the Zyoptix method. I work as a midwifery lecturer and have always been very sceptical of new medical interventions. The decision to go for the surgery did not come lightly and followed many years of debate and reviewing the research in this area. It's almost 2 months now since I went from -10.5 in both eyes to 20:20 vision with centre for sight. The feeling of sheer delight when I open my eyes in the morning and see clearly has yet to fade. I was a very nervous patient and having to attend the clinic alone, while hubby dealt with 3 under fives made that worse. However, the staff went above and beyond the call of duty to look after me. I had laser surgery in March this year, after years of considering it and reading up about it, I finally took the plunge. No regrets!!!I went from -10 to perfect vision!!! It is now thirteen months since my initial surgery and I thought it appropriate to give a longer term opinion. My (sometimes lengthy!) previous posts detail the initial surgery and problems I experienced but I am pleased to say that my opinion of CFS and Mr Daya in particular have not changed. He has provided an exceptional level of care, along with his team, and has produced excellent results (Both eyes now 6/4). I’ve been wearing glasses since I was about 7 and contacts since I was 16. For me glasses and contact lenses have been the bain of my life. Wearing contacts dried my eyes out and wearing glasses put pressure behind my ears. By the end of the day I would either have very tired dry eyes or a sore head! I'm now 25 and had had enough! So when all this new laser surgery came in I suggested it to my father. My father is a GP but used to specialise in Ophthalmology, so was versed in these developments. Mr. Daya was recommended to me by my GP who advised that he had the best reputation for Lasik surgery. I had -2.5 in each eye with a mild astigmatism prior to surgery and was deemed suitable for Zyoptix/Wavefront treatment. The surgery was uncomfortable but not painful and the recovery time was remarkable. Within hours of surgery I had perfect vision and now several weeks after surgery have 6/4 vision (two lines better than 20/20). A truly liberating experience which I would recommend to anyone. I had worn glasses since the age of 11, could not tolerate contact lenses, yet found more and more that glasses got in the way of me doing the things I wanted to. As a GP, I was aware of the benefits but also the possible problems associated with surgery, so I thought hard and chose carefully. After reading the various ratings and comments posted at this website for the Centre for Sight, I decided to book myself in for a consultation and for the surgery the following day, provided that I proved to be suitable. (16-01-04) The initial consultation was at the clinic located on Queen Anne Street in London. My initial impressions were that the staff were excellent and that the premises were clean, well decorated and welcoming. Had my Lasik surgery done on Saturday 17th January at the Centre of Sight by Mr Daya. I was assessed on the Thursday, and had already decided if I was suitable that I would go ahead. After extensive tests I was seen by Mr Daya who said my eyes were ideal for treatment. After having to wear glasses for a couple of weeks (as you have to rest your eyes from contact lenses) I wanted to go ahead asap and so was given a date 2 days later. I was short sighted (-4.75 and -3.50). I was extremely apprehensive, but everyone put you at ease and having a mild sedative helped (even though mine was forgotten about until 10 minutes before).
